Candy Pop Flower

Candy Pop Flower

I bought a bag of these candy pops for Valentine's Day and had almost forgotten them. Here is something easy and fun to make for Valentine's or any time really.  Just choose your colors for your occasion.  I used the Flower Folds Die #115970 to cut my flower layers with my Big Shot.  You can use whichever flower sizes you want (I did not use the largest one) and whatever paper you want.  I used Real Red and Pink Pirouette card stock, and a piece of the Love Patterns Pack #124156 designer paper special  going on now until Feb. 14th.  I used some SNAIL adhesive to tack the flower layers together before poking a hole in the center for the candy pop stick.  I even cut off some of the paper wrapper at the bottom so the pop would fit closer to the flower.  Then I wrapped some Old Olive card stock around the stem and punched out some leaves with the beautiful Two-Step Bird Extra-Large Punch #117191.  You could attach a greeting to the stem also.

Here's a view from the top.

Petal Cones for Valentines

The new Petal Cone Die #121810 in the new Occasions Mini Catalog is really a fun new thing to own!  I almost passed on it at first, but then I started to see the cute projects other demonstrators were making with it, and now I'm very glad I own it!  The possibilities are endless!  It can be used for any occasion, just vary the colors and embellishments.  Here are some of the Petal Cones we made at my recent stamp camp!

Red Valentine Petal Cone

I applied strips of the Love Impressions Specialty Designer Series Paper #121780 to the sides and stamped some hearts with VersaMark #102283 on the sides of the cone from the set Love You Much #113756 in the Stampin' Up! 2010-11 Idea Book & Catalog.

Pink Valentine Petal Cone

Here's one my customer made in pink with a different pattern of the same paper.  So soft and pretty!

Blue Valentine Petal Cone

And here's one someone else made in blue for her little son, stamped with Early Espresso ink and stamps from Valentine Defined and Love You Much, with a red Glitter Paper heart on the top flap!

With Sale-A-Bration going on, now is a good time to purchase those Big Shot dies (and maybe the Big Shot!) so that you can also earn "free stuff"!  Check out the Sale-A-Bration Mini Catalog HERE.

Easy Valentine Pouch

I've often told you, as demonstrators, one of our favorite things is our monthly Stampin' Success Magazine we receive from Stampin' Up! Every issue has business tips for us and many new projects including ones easy enough to demonstrate at workshops.  If you've ever considered being a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator but thought you wouldn't know what to do, this one resource alone would be enough to teach you, inspire you and give you plenty of ideas!

The Valentine Pouch shown in the January 2011 issue of Stampin' Success caught my eye and was fun and easy to make.  I changed the colors from green in the sample to Real Red.  Surprisingly, the pouch is actually made from a Medium Crumb Cake Envelope #107297.  Just seal the envelope on the back, then use the Scallop Edge Border Punch #119882 to punch one side of the envelope, which will become the top of your pouch.

Valentine Envelope Pouch

Valentine Envelope Pouch back

Just stamp with the set "Valentine Defined" from the new Occasions Mini Catalog, apply a strip of designer series paper, and tie a ribbon around.

I'm sure you can see how easy it would be to switch things up a bit…..if you don't have the Crumb Cake envelope, use one you do have.  Don't want to use an envelope?  Use Crumb Cake card stock and make a card base instead of a pouch.  Have some Mini Lunch Sacks leftover from the Holiday Mini? Use those!

Now you can figure out what to put inside….some wrapped candy bars or other little treats, some notecards to match, a pull out tag or card…..the possibilities are endless!  After Valentine's Day, make the same thing but change the colors and change the greeting and make it for a birthday or Easter or new baby or anything!  Simple and cute idea! Let me know if you make one!

Eat Chocolate Stamp Set

The Eat Chocolate stamp set in the Occasions Mini is really a fun one…..at least if you are a chocolate lover like me or if you know a chocolate lover!  You can make some kind of chocolate holder or gift box and use any of these sayings in the set perfectly! Wouldn't these be cute for Valentine's Day or really any time?!

Eat Chocolate Chocolate Holder

Chocolate Holder Inside

I even copied myself to make these!  I came across this post from 2009 with the same little chocolate holder.

Here are the directions in case you don't go back to that post:

Base is 2 3/4" x 9 5/8".

Score at 2 3/4and 3;   6 1/4 and 6 1/2.

Fold up and then open back up.  Use your Word Window Punch on the bottom flap, inserting as far as you can, a little to the right and then punch again the same hole but a little to the left.  That gives you an opening big enough for the Ghirardelli Chocolate Square.  Then flip the flap up and adhere, preferably with Sticky Strip, just at the top.  Insert chocolate and tie the ribbon around to close!  Very easy, very adaptable, and very cute!

These are very easy to make and so fun choosing one of the Eat Chocolate sayings to use!

Here are a couple others ones I made also:

Baby Shower Favors

Recently I was asked to make favors for a baby shower!  I had complete creative control…I could make anything!  There are lots of fabulous ideas to use for baby showers so it was fun to consider what exactly to make! Here is the final project!  Those are little teddie grahams in a cello bag that fit perfectly in the box.

Baby Shower Favor Teddy Grahams

Baby Shower Favor Box Tag

The stamp set with the baby is a retired one, "Baby Firsts"…one of those that nothing else can quite replace it.  Of course you can use other images and create an equally cute favor.

Before settling on the final project with the hostess, I used the same stamps, colors and materials several other ways:

This is just card stock wrapped around a small candy bar.  So easy!

Baby Shower Favor Candy Bar

Here is the Top Note Die #113463 used as a bag topper on the small cello bags with the Hershey Nuggets wrapped in stamped address labels (one of my favorite things to do!).

Baby Shower Favor Bag

And here is the same box with chocolate nuggets wrapped in the stamped address labels:

Baby Shower Favor Box with Chocolatees

I used the Matchbox die #114890 to easily make this box with Bashful Blue and Chocolate Chip card stock.  The lid is embossed with the Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder #117335.

See how handy the Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine #113439 is for lots of projects?  It's my go-to machine, that's for sure!

If you are needing a Big Shot or any new dies and embossing folders, remember that Sale-A-Bration begins TOMORROW, Jan. 25.  With every $50 you spend on product, you get to choose a free item from the special Sale-A-Bration Mini Catalog!  Shop HERE tomorrow!!

Valentine Hearts Box

I used the Bitty Box & Envelope Die #115967 to cut out this box with my Big Shot and punched the heart with my Full Heart Punch #119883, and then it sat undecorated on my table for several days.  Then I got the idea to punch out a bunch of little colored hearts with my Heart to Heart Punch #119881 to decorate the box!

Valentine Hearts Box

It was fun to play around with all the hearts and colors until I had a pleasing layout.  I also needed a small greeting, so I stamped "Happy Valentine's Day" from Teeny Tiny Wishes #115370.  Talk about a useful stamp set with its variety of sentiments!  I just cut the words out and played them a little off-kelter on the box and there you have it! Behind the lid I adhered a small piece of window sheet to close the heart opening. Now it is ready for candy or small notes or whatever treat I choose for Valentine's Day!

(To punch the large heart in the center of the lid you do have to fold up the box flap in the front or the punch won't slide all the way in.  But you are able to just clear that flap in order to punch the heart, so it works!)

Christmas Gift Wrapping

In case you need a nice presentation for a gift, here's an old idea, back from when I first became a demo.  Just decorate (or not) your gift bag that has handles.  Take a sheet of card stock and cut a slit in the middle, just wide enough to fit over those gift bag handles.  Fold in half, decorate, and slip over the handles.  Voila!  Nice gift bag!  Easy to open, easy to close, easy to hide the gift inside.

Christmas Gift Bag

I think this bag has been around a few years, but it still looks nice.  The bag was wheeled, making it real easy to decorate!

Dasher Framed!

This Dasher is one of Stampin' Up!'s Decor Elements vinyl art from last year.  In fact, he was a Hostess gift.  Did you know you may choose a Decor Element for Levels 2 and 3 as your Hostess gift instead of a stamp set?  Just check out the Definitely Decorative Catalog HERE!  I never got around to putting him up, but today I took a few minutes to put him on the glass of this 16" x 20" frame.  I covered the cardboard within the frame with white wrapping paper since it is wider than our 12×12 paper. And for a little extra, I added a red satin bow!  This way I can put him up and take him down for many Christmases to come rather than putting him directly on the wall.

Glass Glitter Word Ornament

Glass Glitter Word Ornament

After seeing some similar glittery word ornaments at a store, I thought "I could make that!"  My only mistake was in using too heavy of card board with the "Join In the Cheer" Sizzlit Decorative Strip Die #113452.  It does say in the catalog, "…for cutting through card stock and Designer Series Paper."  This die is not made for cutting through heavy layers and I did have to use a scissors to fully cut out the word, what I was trying to avoid by using the Big Shot.  I also used the Big Shot Multipurpose Adhesive Sheets #120805 in the Holiday Mini Catalog to adhere designer paper on the back of the card board and also on the front after cutting to adhere the Silver Glass Glitter #120995.  I have to say, I was really pleased with the ease of using the adhesive sheet!  Now I just have to try again with thinner materials!

Be sure to get your Stampin' Up! orders in soon so that they arrive well before Christmas!  You can shop at my Online Store HERE  or contact me with your order and I'll be happy to help you with it.

A “Sweet” Candy Turkey for Thanksgiving!

This is one of my all-time favorite things for Thanksgiving, even though it is not made out of paper!  I'm not sure where I learned to make these, but probably in a magazine, could be about twenty years ago.  I know I have made LOTS of these turkeys for class parties for my children in preschool and probably elementary school and they were always a hit! There are lots of similar turkeys out there made with Oreos or more pieces of candy corn involving frosting and all kinds of stuff.  I always thought these were the easiest and still darn cute!

Candy Turkey

Supplies: Keebler Fudge Stripe Cookies, Hershey Kisses, candy corn, Kraft Caramels

Directions: Take a Kraft caramel and microwave it just a few seconds until it is slightly soft.  Not melting or anything!  Just a little soft.  Have a Hershey's Kiss unwrapped and sitting on the plate or napkin and a cookie and candy corn ready.  When the caramel comes out of the microwave, plop it on top of the Hershey's Kiss.  Immediately "smoosh" the cookie against the backside of the caramel until it sticks.  Take the candy corn on edge and stick it into the caramel.  Voila!  You have a turkey!

Caramel Turkey

These turkeys are so fun to make for Thanksgiving!  To make multiples, just have your ingredients ready to go.  You can soften several caramels at a time on a paper plate in the microwave, maybe about six.  You want to be able to work quickly when the caramels come out of the microwave so you can stick everything together.  Have extras on hand because there will be some broken cookies!

A Favorite Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator Perk!

You've heard me say before that one of my favorite things about being a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator is receiving the special Stampin' Success Magazine every month!  You would think we would all become accustomed to getting this magazine and become rather ho-hum about it after awhile…..but ABSOLUTELY NOT!  As soon as they start hitting the mailboxes, demos are posting that they received theirs and others start posting wondering when theirs is going to arrive!  We are always anxious for the next issue packed with business tips and fabulous projects!  Stampin' Up! even posts the magazine online so we get a sneak peek before it hits our mailboxes, even though it is nothing like having it in our hot little hands!

The November 2010 issue had a great article about preserving memories with handmade albums, just small simple ones.  I took the basic idea and used it as a project in my stamp camp last weekend and added a few different touches.  I thought it was a great idea for a generic little album, whether people wanted to make it for a few Thanksgiving photos or something else.

Here is the little scrapbook we made, starting with just a 10" x 5" piece of card stock!

Mini Scrapbook

Mini Scrapbook Inside

Click on the photos to enlarge.

You can make this album any size….just fold your paper in half, open, then fold each side to the middle, producing four sections.  Fold the bottom up for the pockets.  Make a few tags or photo mats, do a little stamping or punching little scraps of paper, add a couple little embellishments….whatever!…..you have a nice little album ready for photos!  On this project we used the stamp set "Just Believe".

November Gratitude Bag

I so enjoyed decorating these Mini Lunch Sacks #121031 for Halloween in the Holiday Mini that I decided to do one more for the first day of November. Is it really November already?!  I guess so, and that means Thanksgiving isn't far behind! Wouldn't this make a nice little gift to take to someone at Thanksgiving?  You could fill it with some special treat or gift or perhaps some little 3"x 3" notecards like the one I made.  Once you start working with this beautiful Autumn Spice Specialty Designer Series Paper #120808 (also in the Holiday Mini) you won't be able to stop!  This is textured, heavyweight paper so it really is rich and special.  You can see another sheet of it in the background of my photo.  Pair it with the stamp set "Day of Gratitude" in either wood-mount or clear-mount and you will have a wonderful way to stamp lots of beautiful fall projects!

Happy Halloween! Halloween Treat Bags!

I hope you have a fun Halloween planned with your family!  I expect to have some trick-or-treaters at my door tonight and I always enjoy giving out the candy!  The little neighborhood carnival is just down the street, so we always do get a lot of kids at our house as they come and go from the carnival.

Here are a couple of treat bags I made for my "big" kids so easily out of the Mini Lunch Sacks #121031 in the Holiday Mini Catalog.  Just a few scraps of Wicked Fun Designer Series Paper #117400, some card stock and maybe a little stamping from Wicked Cool.  Use your punches!  Really fun!  I think I might make a couple more bags today for some special trick-or-treaters!

Ghosts Halloween Treat Bag

Did you know you can make ghosts out of the Owl Punch #118074?

Just punch out the owl in white, cut off his feet, and turn him upside down! Put some eyes on him and you've got a ghost!  Love it!

Spider Web Halloween Treat Bag

I finally caught up with myself and found out I DID order the Spider Web Textured Impressions Embossing Folder #120889!  Just run this through your Big Shot and you have a great spider web!  To make it show up, I just rubbed my Craft White Ink Pad lightly over the spider web.  On another one I sprinkled on some Iridescent Ice Embossing Powder #101930 and set it with my Heat Tool #100005!  Nice and sparkly!

Have a Happy Halloween!!!

Halloween Candy Bars

Halloween Candy Bars

Candy is a huge part of Halloween, so I thought it was time to play with some! These are just the "snack size" Hershey bars, but of course if you had the regular size or even the giant size bars you could do the same thing.  I just took small pieces of card stock and Wicked Fun Specialty Paper #117400 and wrapped it around the candy bars.  Then I decorated with my Bitty Bat Punch #119279 and some stamps from Wicked Cool #120600.  Doing these was so much fun!  I may even make some more!  One of my favorites is the bottom candy bar where I punched out the bat and wrapped the black paper over the Pumpkin Pie card stock.  Well, I like them all!  Get out your punches, some scraps of card stock and some Halloween or fun stamps and see what you can come up with!  Wouldn't a bowl full of those be cute to hand out on Halloween?!

More Halloween Spooky Things Decor Elements!

Spooky Things Halloween Decor Elements Frame

Now that I've found my Spooky Things Decor Elements #122296 that I ordered from the Holiday Mini Catalog, I had to make another project!  Of course I forgot to measure before going to the craft store so the frame I bought was a little larger than I needed.  But it still fit using the mat since the frame opening was larger than 12 inches across, and that would have been more difficult to fill.  Anyway, the vinyl Decor Elements….the "happy halloween 31" is placed on the front of the glass of the frame.  Directions come with the vinyl so you will know exactly how to apply or you can read my post from yesterday and watch a video from Stampin' Up! on working with Decor Elements.  I taped a piece of Wicked Fun Specialty Paper #117400 behind the mat for the background.  And then I went wild stamping on the mat!  I used stamps from Extreme Elements #115181 and Wicked Cool #120600 to decorate the mat!  Of course I wanted to use my Bitty Bat Large Punch #119279, so you see three bats flying around, eyes are dots with the white Signo Gel Pen #105021.  Don't worry that just because Halloween will be over you won't be able to use the Bat Punch because clever people have already figured out ways to use the punch for other cute things.

Sometimes it is fun to think of using your stamping supplies for some home decor instead of a card or scrapbook page!
