Stylish Stems Cutout Die Birthday Card

Stylish Stems Cutout Die Birthday Card

I saw a card like this one and immediately thought I needed to make one like it, a Stylish Stems Cutout Die Birthday Card.  I used a Pool Party card base with a Whisper White layer die cut with a flower die with a glimmer paper behind it. I love the simplicity and elegance of the card, and it has tons of possibilities! I want to make more!

Just think!  Using this basic card idea, you could make a card for almost any occasion! Die cut the flower, put some contrasting paper behind it, and stamp a greeting! So simple and so easy! I was going to make the card white on white like the sample I saw online, but decided to add some color with the Pool Party cardstock. To make the flower I just used my Big Shot and the Stylish Stems Framelits DiesThese dies are special because the large flower die just cuts out the flower pieces as you see on the card above. If you want to die cut the whole flower to use elsewhere, then you can add the shape around it to die cut it. I just adhered a piece of Silver Glimmer Paper behind the die cut flower for some pizzazz!  The greeting is from the Window Shopping Stamp Set.

There is a coordinating stamp set, Special Reason, to use with these dies. If you want to save 10%, the Special Reason Bundle comes with both the stamp set and the framelits dies. I’m sure you will want both sets to make beautiful cards and projects.

Check out the Stampin’ Up! video below to see how to use this stamp set and framelits dies!

And don’t forget……Sale-A-Bration is going on!  For each $50 you spend at Stampin’ Up!, you get to choose a FREE product in the Sale-A-Bration Brochure!

Die Cut Hearts Easy Valentine Card

Die Cut Hearts Easy Valentine Card

In playing with my new Love Notes Framelits Dies, I decided to cut a lot of hearts and make a die cut hearts easy Valentine card.  I just chose some Real Red card stock and Silver Glimmer Paper for the hearts. Then I just played with arranging the hearts until I came up with a pleasing layout.  You can see that one of the dies makes the hearts pop up on a center fold! On one of the them I snipped the inside heart off so that I had just the thin outline heart. The card base is just Whisper White Thick Cardstock although I have it laying on a piece of red cardstock for the photo. But as you can see, it would be a pretty card with a Real Red card base and a Whisper White layer with the hearts adhered. In fact, you could use pink or many colors of hearts! Makes me want to play some more with this same idea!

The greeting is a stamp in the Sealed with Love Photopolymer Stamp Set.  There are so many great stamps in this set and they don’t all have to only be used on Valentine’s Day. We can use hearts in lots of ways for lots of occasions. And along with the Love Notes Framelits Dies, you will really be in business!  One of the dies even makes cute little bitty envelopes! If you would like to save 10%, just purchase the Sealed with Love Bundle to get the stamp set and framelits!

Valentine’s Day is coming, but you do still have time to order Stampin’ Up! supplies to make your cards and projects! And remember, you can use them for more than Valentine’s Day!  You will be making wedding cards, baby cards, birthday cards, love notes, all-occasion cards!

Stamp Tee Shirts and More with the Custom Tee Stamp Set!

Custom Tee Bundle

Images (c) Stampin’ Up! 2017

One stamp set you possibly could have overlooked in the new Occasions Catalog is the Custom Tee Photopolymer Stamp Set by Stampin’ Up! along with the T-shirt Builder Framelits Dies.  You can purchase both of these in a Bundle, the Custom Tee Bundle, and save 10%! Just add a little something more to your order and you will earn a FREE Sale-A-Bration item in the Sale-A-Bration Brochure!  Surely you want free stuff! To go along with this Bundle, one thing you might want to choose is the Designer Tee Stamp Set on page 19 of the Sale-A-Bration Brochure.  You could use these greetings on your tee shirts you stamp but also on any cards or projects as greetings!

Here is a new video from Stampin’ Up! telling you about the t-shirt products!  Enjoy!

This stamp set also reminds me of when I was a young girl and I loved designing and drawing clothing. It wasn’t a phase that lasted too long but I do remember a little booklet I put together drawn with colored pencils! If you yourself or a future clothing designer in your family likes that sort of thing, they could have lots of fun with this tee shirt stamp set.

This stamp set is also good for making masculine cards, something we always seem to have a bit of difficulty with.  And as Holly describes in the video, you can use some of the stamps just for adding a little background interest or as greetings on other projects.

Red White and Blue Patriotic Card for Inauguration Day

Red White and Blue Patriotic Card for Inauguration Day

Today, January 20, 2017 is Inauguration Day here in the United States. No matter everyone’s political choices, it is the day we celebrate the peaceful transition of power from one President to the other. In honor of today, here is a red, white and blue patriotic card for Inauguration Day!

This card is made with the Balloon Adventures Stamp Set and the Balloon Pop-Up Thinlits DiesI made it extra glitzy with the Gold Glimmer Paper, die cut with the big pop-up piece. Then I stamped the balloons with Real Red and Pacific Point Ink, punched out with the Balloon Bouquet Punch and adhered them over the Gold Glimmer paper balloons.  I also stamped the banner and greeting and just cut out by hand. The red paper behind the balloons is in the Sending Love Designer Series Paper Stack.  The card base is Pacific Point cardstock and cut the length of the paper, 11″ x 4 1/4″ with a fold at the top.

Just in case you don’t need an Inauguration Day card, you can easily use this card for a birthday!  Lots of possibilities with this stamp set and dies! Want to save 10%?  Buy the Balloon Adventures Photopolymer Bundle!  Get both the stamp set and set of dies at a discount.

Stitched Shapes Framelits Dies Are Available Again!

If you recall, back in November, Stampin’ Up! released these new Stitched Shapes Framelits Dies as an early release from the upcoming new Stampin’ Up! Catalog. Well, they were SO popular that Stampin’ Up! couldn’t keep up with the demand until they got a lot more in stock! Well, that day was yesterday so now the Stitched Shapes Framelits Dies are available again!  I ordered mine at the time and have been using them ever since.  I really love these dies!  They just add a little something to the piece with the stitched look, just a little something that looks really nice.  And as stampers, we are always looking for that little extra that finishes a card or project.

Easy Ghirardelli Candy Holder

Here is just one sample I made with the Stitched Framelits Dies to add that stitched look border to my greeting, If you have some of the other shape dies with the scalloped edges, you can add another layer underneath the stitched shape and it adds a nice look, too.

Watch this Stampin’ Up! video for more ideas on using these framelits!  Then go to Stampin’ Up! Online and order yours today! (And remember, these were originally released before the holidays!!)

Check out these dies and other products at Stampin’ Up! today!  And don’t forget, with every $50 purchase you get a FREE Sale-A-Bration product!

Big Shot Die Cut Window Box

Big Shot Die Cut Window Box

Here is my first try making this Big Shot Die Cut Window Box with the dies from the Occasions Catalog. This was one of the products I was excited to purchase because I think it makes a beautiful little gift box and lots of other projects. To make this box I used the Window Box Thinlits Dies.  For my first time, I would say the process is a little bit tedious and I don’t think this first box is the best I can do……but on the other hand, how else would you make a cute box like this in just a few minutes without Stampin’ Up! products?!

You can just use the box die to make a plain box or you can die cut the top design with any of several different dies and or the sides of the box.  Lots of possibilities to explore! You can line the die cuts underneath with another color paper or Window Sheet or Vellum or whatever you like,

You can also use the dies to just make intricate designs on cards! There is also a coordinating stamp set, the Window Shopping Stamp Set that you can use for greetings with the box.  Save 10% when you buy the Window Shopping Bundle  to get the stamp set and thinlits dies together.  The clear-mount Bundle costs $50.25 which then earns you a FREE Sale-A-Bration item!

Watch the Stampin’ Up! video below to see how Donna Griffith at the Home Office uses these dies. You need to cut two of the box pieces in order to make the full box and she shows you how to cut off the side tabs on one of the pieces.  You will see when you assemble the box that you don’t need those side tabs on the one piece because the other piece has them!

With a little practice and patience I think we will all be able to make beautiful boxes of many designs!  I can’t wait to play some more!

Coming January 4th ! New Stamps & Framelits in the Stampin’ Up! Occasions Catalog!

Now that Christmas is over, we can look forward to the new Stampin’ Up! spring catalog, the Occasions Catalog and Sale-A-Bration! I loved the Holiday Catalog and hated the thought of it going away.  By New Year’s though, I think we will all be more than ready for fresh new products!

One of the new Bundles coming in the Occasions Catalog will be the Special Reason Bundle. When you purchase a Bundle, you save 10% on the products over buying them separately. This Bundle contains the Special Reason Stamp Set with flowers and greetings and the Stylish Stems Framelits Dies. When you watch the video, you will see the new design of these particular dies! I have to admit, when I first saw this stamp set and framelits I did say, “More flowers!” but after watching the video,  I know I will have these on my list for sure!

If you are new to Stampin’ Up!, Sale-A-Bration is a special annual promotion from Stampin’ Up! With EVERY $50 you spend on Stampin’ Up! products, you get to choose a FREE Sale-A-Bration item in the special brochure.

If you are a regular customer of mine, I ordered these catalogs for you from Stampin’ Up! and hopefully you received them in your Christmas mail (unless the mail lady is reading them first in the back of the post office!). If you don’t receive them by January, let me know.  If you are new and would like the hard copies of the catalogs and do not have a Demonstrator you are working with, then email me at Karen@Karenstamps.com and I would be happy to send you some catalogs. They will be online when the Occasions Catalog goes live and Sale-A-Bration begins on Wednesday, January 4th.

Floral Thinlits Dies 40th Anniversary Card

Floral Thinlits Dies 40th Anniversary Card

When you’re kids and growing up, you probably can’t imagine that someday it will be years, and years, and years since you used to play together and be part of each other’s everyday lives. I recently made this Floral Thinlits 40th Anniversary card for the “boy” who lived next door to us and was best friends with my brother. When he met his future wife, she would sit in a lawn chair on the carport while my brother and his friend would fix a car or a lawn mower or go cut a neighbor’s grass or whatever they were up to. They eventually got married, 40 years ago, and my husband and I got engaged the following weekend if I remember correctly. How can we “kids” be celebrating forty years of marriage??!

Apparently 40 years is “Ruby”, if anyone still goes by things like that for anniversary gifts and cards. I decided to make the card pretty fancy since it was for such a special occasion. I found a sample online that I liked and fashioned my card mostly after that one. The Floral Thinlits Dies are perfect for when you want to make a fancy card!  I used a Whisper White card base and die cut the Red Foil (retired). I only used the bottom piece, not the top piece. The card opens at the top so I could wrap the Whisper White 5/8″ Organza Ribbon around the card. To jazz up the ribbon, I also used a piece of Silver Sequin Trim and a piece of Silver trim that I just tied into the white ribbon.  The greeting is from the Floral Phrases Stamp Set and is embossed with Silver Emboss Powder  and the Heat Tool.  The little hearts are punched or die cut (I forget how I got those!) and just glued individually above the Floral die cut piece.

There are other ways you could make this same card.  You could use Gold or Silver Glimmer Paper for the die cut piece or a piece of cardstock and put some glimmer paper behind it.  You could stamp the greeting above the die cut piece rather than tie on the greeting on a tag. You could turn the card sideways, putting the die cut piece on the other side. For sure, the Floral Thinlits Dies can make any project look spectacular!

Notice the Floral Thinlits Dies are on SALE in the Stampin’ Up! Year-End Closeouts, so don’t miss it!

Santa’s Sleigh Warmth & Cheer Christmas Tree Card

Santa's Sleigh Warmth & Cheer Christmas Tree Card

I saw an idea on Pinterest similar to this Santa’s Sleigh Warmth & Cheer Christmas Tree Card, but the person used washi tape behind the tree. I thought it looked like a nice simple design, but I got the idea to use the Warmth & Cheer Designer Series Paper Stack (It’s on sale right now for half-price on the Year End Closeout Sale!) behind the die-cut tree.

Just start with a card base of Whisper White and add a layer of colored cardstock. I decided to use three of the different green patterns in the pattern stack, so on two cards I used Real Red cardstock for a layer and on one I used Garden Green. Just to make another change, I used Crumb Cake for the top layer. I used my Big Shot and the tree framelit in the Santa’s Sleigh set of dies. Then just adhere a piece of the patterned paper behind the cut out, making sure the whole open area is covered!  Save the trees you cut out, maybe you can use them on another project! If you wanted to, you could adhere a piece of brown cardstock for the tree trunk. There is a small star die in the Santa’s Sleigh Thinlits Dies so I cut a gold foil star for each card. The greeting is in the Santa’s Sleigh Photopolymer Stamp Set, but you could use any greeting you liked.

Here is a close up so you can see the die cut and the patterned paper underneath.

Santa's Sleigh Warmth & Cheer Christmas Tree Card

You could probably even add some bling to this card if you wanted to like some sequins or Enamel Dots or some die cut bows, but I think it looks perfectly fine simple as it is! Sometimes you have to know when to stop!  Try this Santa’s Sleigh Warmth & Cheer Christmas Tree Card for a simple design and easy assembly.

Layered Letters Fa La La Christmas Card

Layered Letters Fa La La Christmas Card

Usually I don’t know what I will end up when I start to make a card or project even when I “think” I know what I am going to make, as is the case with this Layered Letters Fa La La Christmas Card.  And you never know where your inspiration will come from – and how much your final project will change from that inspiration!

On a store website, I saw a pillow with “Fa La La” printed on it, and I immediately thought of the Layered Letters Alphabet Stamp Set.  I thought their colors looked a lot like Cherry Cobbler so that is how I started. I decided to stamp the letters and then die cut with the new  Stitched Shapes Framelits Dies.  These dies are unavailable right now but will be back! The Garden Green background layer is cut with the Layering Squares Framelits Dies.

I couldn’t fit just the three words on the card very well so I tried to see what else I could do.  I thought the Christmas tree from Santa’s Sleigh would be nice. You can get the stamp set and framelits in a Bundle and save 10%! And in the Bundle you also get little bows, which I used to decorate the tree!  I added a Rhinestone Jewel to each bow since I hadn’t stamped the bows first, and I like the way they look!  I thought the background needed a little something, so as I looked for the Sparkle Embossing FolderI came across the Cable Knit Dynamic Folderwhich is probably good for almost anything!  It’s so beautiful!

And that’s how my card turned out that started with just “Fa La La” in Cherry Cobbler on Very Vanilla turned out!

Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer Mini Treat Bag

Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer Mini Treat Bag

Last year I decorated a kraft gift bag much like this Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer Mini Treat Bag and it was quite popular. This year I thought I would try something similar with one of my favorite products, the Mini Treat Bag Thinlits Dies!  I loved this project because you can use the treat bag as a treat holder, a small gift holder, or as a Christmas card! If you look closely you can see the top of the card I inserted in the treat bag with a strip of the Candy Cane Lane Specialty Designer Series Paper.

Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer Mini Treat Bag Card

To make the mini treat bag, of course I used the Big Shot and the Mini Treat Bag Thinlits Dies. I made this bag out of our Kraft 12″ x 12″ Cardstock. Rudolph’s antlers are punched with the Tree Builder Punch.  The eyes are punched with the 1 1/4″ Circle Punch out of Whisper White and the black pupils with the 3/4″ Circle PunchI marked a little “highlight” on the eyes with my White Stampin’ Chalk MarkerThe Red Glimmer Paper nose is punched with the 1″ Circle Punch.  And I had to tie a bow on the reindeer with the Real Red 3/8″ Stitched Ribbon.

The card is cut from Whisper White Cardstock to fit inside the treat bag. I adhered a strip of designer paper to the top and stamped a greeting from the Tin of Tags Stamp Set. You don’t have to have the Tin of Tags in order to make good use out of this stamp set. It stands on its own!
