Swirly Bird Pumpkins Halloween Card

Swirly Bird Pumpkins Halloween Card

I’ve been playing with the pile of extra stamped or cut out pieces on my table and this Swirly Bird Pumpkins Halloween Card is one card I’ve come up with! Sometimes when I am die-cutting pieces with my Big Shot, I cut extra pieces while I am at it and/or sometimes I just change my mind about what I am doing and don’t use the pieces I cut out.  Instead of throwing them all out, save the decent ones (in a pile on your table!) and if they don’t collect too much dust, get them out one day and see what you can make with them!

On this card, I had extra Swirly Scribbles Thinlits Dies pieces plus used the Swirly Bird Stamp Set to stamp the solid pumpkin image in Peekaboo Peach, one of the new In Colors and the little vines on the pumpkins. The pumpkin stems are pieces cut from leaves made with the Botanical Builder Framelits Dies.  The colorful moon is a Swirly Scribbles die cut sponged with some Pumpkin Pie ink.  The tiny little bats are die cuts from the Home Sweet Home Thinlits DiesI was trying out those new dies and since I had black cardstock I just cut a bunch of bats! They are perfect on this card!

For the background sky of the card, I used my Aqua Painter and various ink colors to make a colorful, spooky night sky! You could also sponge colors on with Stamping Sponges or Sponge Daubers.

While I don’t necessarily think this is my best card ever, it was fun playing with the pieces and coming up with a Halloween card! Even though the sky isn’t the best I’ve ever done, it’s okay because it is for Halloween and why couldn’t a fall sky look like this?! Not everything has to be a masterpiece! (I should use that for a quote!)

Look at your scraps (I know you have them!!) and see what you can make! We need to use up those scraps every now and then. They don’t do anyone any good just being in a pile or bag or box.  Use them!  Create something! Mail the card!

Need more cardstock to make more scraps??!  Order some today from

Home Sweet Home Halloween House

It’s so fun to play with the Sweet Home Stamp Set and the Home Sweet Home Thinlits Dies to make all kinds of little houses for holiday home decor, party favors, treat holders or gift box like my Home Sweet Home Halloween House.  You can make these as simple or as involved as you like.  Cut two pieces with the dies to make a house, then stamp or add additional die cuts, like for windows perhaps, and then glue it all together!  The Stampin’ Up! Holiday Catalog gives you photos of three types of houses – Halloween, Christmas, and a regular house. There are plenty of stamps and dies to embellish your houses for whatever occasion you like!

Purchase the Sweet Home Stamp Set and Home Sweet Home Thinlits Dies in a Bundle and save 10%!  #143516

For my Halloween house, I stamped the lines to look like the wood siding and die cut all the rest of the pieces. I put a gray ghost up in the top window! For the windows I just cut the black frames and cut pieces of Daffodil Delight yellow for the “light” behind them, sponged with a little Pumpkin Pie to look spooky for Halloween. I also sponged the house with Crumb Cake ink to look spooky.  The roof shingles are all die cut, plus I sponged those with Craft White ink. The little doorknob is one of the new self-adhesive Brights Enamel Shapes.

Something For Baby Card

Something For Baby Card

I needed a baby card so I turned to the Something For Baby Stamp Set in the Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog. If you look on page 59 you will see the sample that I copied.  I loved the little stamp that looks like the stacking colored rings that I’m sure we all had for our babies to play with! However, I did use a greeting from a retired stamp set, Big News. I also used a piece of retired designer paper on the front of the card,

To make the ring stack, just color each ring with a different colored Stampin’ Write Marker. I used several Brights colors plus Crumb Cake. Just color with the markers but then breathe (huff) on the stamp before stamping to remoisten the ink. Then cut out with the Big Shot and the Baby’s First Framelits DiesI popped it up on a Stampin’ Dimensional or two.

The little hearts are stamped from the Big News stamp set. I couldn’t resist using some of the Brights Enamel Shapes.

Don’t forget to use your Stampin’ Up! catalog for ideas and inspiration for your cards and projects!  There are more ideas than you can possibly use!  Even if you tried to follow each one, you would change it up some of the time and make something different. It’s an easy way to find ideas.

Swirly Scribbles Flowers and Watercolored Background

Swirly Scribbles Flowers and Watercolored Background

It was time to play with the Swirly Scribbles Thinlits Dies and make some Swirly Scribbles Flowers on a watercolored background. Once you cut out the flower pieces with the Big Shot, just glue them down with tiny dots of Multipurpose Liquid Glue or the Fine Tip Glue Pen. Then add any greeting you like for the occasion and any embellishments. I like to cut out extra scribbles to use another time.

It’s always best to use Watercolor Paper if you are going to do any watercoloring, but perhaps the next best thing is our Shimmery White CardstockYou can barely see the watercoloring on my card behind the flowers. It is very light and subtle.  I used Blushing Bride, Melon Mambo, and Soft Sky inks with my Aqua Painter to pick up the color. There’s no skill to it, honestly, it’s just picking up the ink with the Aqua Painter and smearing it on the cardstock in each area! Anyone can do it! The Shimmery White Cardstock is so beautiful with its very subtle shimmer and glimmer! You can perhaps see it in this photograph at the top of the card.

For some accents on the card, I turned to the new Brights Enamel Shapes . These are small and flat, great for mailing, and oh so pretty. They come in each Color Family, too, so you can have any color you need, plus Metallic. I also used the White Perfect AccentsThese can even be colored with Sharpies if you like.

For the little bit of stamping on the card, I used the leaves from the Swirly Bird Photopolymer Stamp Set and a small “Hello” greeting, making this a card for any friendly occasion, from the Crazy About You Photopolymer Stamp Set. Almost any greeting you could need is in this set and you can make your own combinations since the words are separate from each other.

The Swirly Bird Bundle has been very popular! If you don’t want to have FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out) then order yours from Stampin’ Up! today!  If you have Bonus Coupons to use, remember to use them during August.

Watercolor Words You’re the Best Card

Watercolor Words You're the Best Card

I’m still copying cards, like this Watercolor Words You’re the Best Card from the new Stampin’ Up! Catalog or at least getting some inspiration! The catalog is a great resource when you are looking for any kind of idea. Even if you see an idea for a card, you might be able to use it on a scrapbook page.  If you see an idea for a tag, you might be able to use that on a card. You will find ideas for boxes and gift-wrapping and home decor items, and the samples in the catalog are there for you to take inspiration from!

This is another sample I have made from page 135 in the Stampin’ Up! Catalog. It didn’t turn out exactly like the catalog sample, but it doesn’t have to. Change it up according to what products and stamps you have. You could have used different flowers on this card, a different greeting or different paper.

For this card, I used Pool Party cardstock and a piece from the Affectionately Yours Specialty Designer Series Paper for the banner, which is die cut with the Big Shot and the Banners Framelits Dies. The greeting and flowers are stamped with the Watercolor Words Photopolymer Stamp Set and the flowers and leaves cut out by hand. The greeting is cut out with one of the circles in the Layering Circles Framelits Dies. For a little extra something, I adhered some sequins from the Metallics Sequin Assortment.  Who wouldn’t like to receive a card that says, “You’re the Best”!

Flip through the catalog next time you need an idea for a card or other project!  If you need a catalog, please send me your contact information and I can mail one to you.

A Birthday Card with Sweet Cupcake

Birthday Card with Sweet Cupcake Stamp Set

Once you start playing with the Sweet Cupcake Stamp Set you will find so many possibilities with this stamp set and even more with the coordinating Cupcake Cutouts Framelits Dies. Buy these two products together in the Sweet Cupcake Photopolymer Bundle and save 10%, but most importantly, you will have all these tools to make great cards and other projects!

For this card, like yesterday’s card, I used Watermelon Wonder Cardstock for the card base. Then I die cut five squiggles with the Big Shot from the Cupcake Cutouts dies, also out of Watermelon Wonder, just to add a little texture to the background.  I love those squiggles! They are probably the reason I bought the framelits! To adhere them, I just used tiny dots of Multipurpose Liquid Glue. I like to use the Silicone Craft Sheet underneath any narrow pieces like the squiggles so that I don’t get glue on my Grid Paper where I am working on the whole card, and the glue can be wiped off the Silicone Craft Sheet.

I stamped the cupcake the same way I did in yesterday’s post using Pink Pirouette and Watermelon Wonder ink for the frosting and So Saffron and Crumb Cake for the cupcake bottom (or wrapper). I die cut this cupcake and popped it up with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  For some extra pizzazz on the cupcake, I used a few of the Brights Enamel ShapesThis is a product that you might overlook in the catalog, but once you have them you know that they are SO CUTE! Really a fun embellishment!

If you have them, use the Layering Squares Framelits Dies for the background for the cupcake and the little scalloped edge. The Sweet Cupcake Stamp Set comes with lots of great greetings for both the front of the card and the inside so you will get lots of use from this set!

If you are new to my blog or Stampin’ Up! and would like a copy of the new Stampin’ Up! catalog, please contact me at Karen@KarenStamps.com   I would be happy to send you the fantastic new catalog if you are interested in Stampin’ Up! products or would like to get started in the fun hobby (or even BUSINESS!) of stamping, memory-keeping, and papercrafting! Sweet Cupcake Birthday Card

Sweet Cupcake Birthday Card

It was finally time to play around with the Sweet Cupcake stamp set and make this Sweet Cupcake Birthday Card!  I think you can even see the glimmer on the frosting from the Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Brush. (Once you start painting on that glitter, you don’t want to stop!)  I didn’t realize that these cupcake stamps are actually 3-step stamping.  You can experiment with them with ink choices and whether to stamp them 1-2-3 or 3-2-1. The stamps are numbered inside on the plastic so you can use that for a guide.  That may sound crazy but the choice will be yours.  You can stamp this cupcake and cut it out with the Cupcake Cutouts Framelits Dies and the Big Shot and pop it up with Stampin’ Dimensionals to give it a 3D look. Get the Sweet Cupcake Photopolymer Bundle with both the stamp set and framelits and save 10% plus be all set to make some cute cards and projects!!

To stamp the cupcake frosting, I used Pink PIrouette Ink and Watermelon Wonder.  I meant to use the new Watermelon Wonder 5/8″ Mini Striped Ribbon on the card but I completely forgot! Maybe the next one!  The cupcake itself (or the cupcake wrapper) is stamped with So Saffron Ink and Crumb Cake. There are lots of combinations or single inks that you can experiment with.

And I love the sayings in this stamp set. I even took a picture of the inside of the card because we seldom show that.  Since the Watermelon Wonder card stock base is rather dark for writing a greeting, I added a Whisper White layer and stamped my greeting. Also, if you noticed on the front, since the stamps are photopolymer, you can actually bend them a little as I did for the greeting above the cupcake.  I also love all the die cuts you can make with the framelits, like the word “Sweet”. At the bottom I added a piece of doily, it’s not one of the new Delicate White Doiliesbut I wanted to use up the ones that I already had. If you don’t own any doilies, they are great to have on hand for just a little bit of texture or embellishment sometimes.

Sweet Cupcake Birthday Card Inside

Don’t forget Stampin’ Up! Bonus Days are going on!  When you spend $50 or more, or any number of increments of $50, you will receive (by email) a $5 coupon to spend in August! Spend $100 in July, get 2 $5 coupons to spend in August, etc. You must have an email address and keep track of your coupons yourself to take advantage of this offer.  Bonus Days end July 31. You can redeem coupons August 2-31.

Can’t you just imagine all the birthday cards you can make with this cute stamp set?! Remember how important it is to send real birthday cards in the mail to our friends, not just take one second to write a greeting on social media! If you want to join the movement started by Shannon West of the Stampin’ Up! Home Office, you might like to invest in this #IMBRINGINGBIRTHDAYSBACK stamp to use maybe on the back of envelopes!
