You Plus Me Heart Card

You Plus Me Heart Card

This is a sneak peek of the new stamp set You Plus Me, available tomorrow in the new Stampin’ Up! Occasions Catalog, plus the new Stacked with Love Designer Series Paper Stack. You can actually purchase the stamp set and paper stack in a Bundle and save 15%! It all starts tomorrow, January 6, 2015! And Sale-A-Bration also begins, so with every $50 purchase, you get to choose a free Sale-A-Bration item. Catalogs will be available online tomorrow! If you need hard copies, please just ask. I have some extras at the moment. On this card I also used the Big Shot and the Hearts Collection Framelits Die.

That’s why I am off to a slow start stamping today!  I haven’t taken down my Christmas tree or put away all the Christmas decorations yet. In order to put up the tree we have to move a desk that is normally by my kitchen table and heaped with my current stamping stuff! So that’s in the other room and so are a lot of my stamping products. Since we actually ate Christmas dinner at the formal dining room table, I had to move my Big Shot and mess off of that. I did find my Big Shot under a chair today and the container with my dies and framelits and embossing folders underneath something else! So now, at least, I am back in business with my Big Shot and accessories!

If you wonder why I used a black heart, it’s because I was influenced by the opposite side of the heart paper, which is a black and white chevron design. Maybe I will make a similar card with the other side of the paper! I had also intended to use some of the coordinating Stacked with Love Designer Washi Tape but I forgot! Next time!

It’s so fun to have new stamping products to play with, especially after everything being about Christmas and the holidays! If you place your spring time order tomorrow, in just a few days YOU will have your new products as well!

But before you think about tomorrow, go through the Holiday Catalog another time and also check the Year-End Closeouts in the Stampin’ Up! Store and see if there is anything you want as these will end tomorrow. Go to my Stampin’ Up! Online Store now and check through the categories on the left sidebar to make sure you don’t miss a thing! Remember, even if you looked at the Closeouts early on, they added more items at some point and reduced some prices even more! Really, you should check it, just in case!

Top Note Thanksgiving Cello Bag Treat

Top Note Thanksgiving Cello Bag Treat

If you haven’t had time yet to make some kind of Thanksgiving treat or table favor, here is something easy. Put your candy or treat into a cello bag and decorate with a topper made with the always popular Top Note Die and Big Shot. Just fold it in half and decorate! I stamped some leaves from the Fall Fest Photopolymer Bundle and cut out with the matching framelits, both of which come in a Bundle so you can save 15% if you buy the stamps and framelits together. The words are from a stamp in the For All Things Stamp Set, only the words I wanted colored in with an Early Espresso Stampin’ Write Marker and punched out with the Extra-Large Oval Punch.

Wedding Anniversary Card with Heart Framelits

Wedding Anniversary Card with Heart Framelits

This is the wedding anniversary card I made for my daughter and son-in-law using the Heart Framelits and a technique I saw online by Deb Valder. To make the card special for them, I used the same color card stock (Concord Crush), and embossing folder (Vintage Wallpaper) I used to make their wedding invitations four years ago. (The Concord Crush color is retired now as is the beautiful Vintage Wallpaper folder.) I also used Brushed Silver Card Stock as I did on their wedding invitations, plus, of course, Whisper White.

Here is the inside of the card.

Wedding Anniversary Card withHeart Framelits Inside

The idea is that the front of the card is cut out in the shape of the framelit so that the die cut on the inside of the card decorates the front of the card!  And it is not that hard to make!

Take your usual half sheet of card stock, but to make the flaps, score 2 1/8″ from each end and fold.  Make sure the center meets. Layer a piece of card stock or designer paper inside the card, 4″ x 5 1/4″. On the two outer “flaps”, decorate however you like, perhaps with designer series paper, remembering that you are going to cut through those layers with a framelit so you don’t want it too thick. I made this card over a month ago so I don’t remember exactly, but I made have had to do some extra trimming to cut through entirely that the framelit couldn’t do. But you need to have the front done before you cut with the framelit. Lay the framelit cutting edge UP inside the card, centered and exactly where you want it, knowing that it is going to cut the front flaps of the card. Close the flaps over the framelit and cut out with the Big Shot. Now you want to cut the same framelit shape to go on the inside of the card, keeping in mind it needs to fit exactly in the shape you just cut out on the front of the card.  This didn’t matter with the heart, but if you did another shape you need to make sure it is going in the same direction and perhaps cut with the framelit cutting edge “up” again. When you have your shape, pop it up on Stampin’ Dimensionals and adhere inside the card so that it fits perfectly with the front cut-out. Hopefully you can kind of tuck the front flaps underneath that die-cut a bit to hold them closed.

This is a neat idea to experiment with and make an elegant card.  You just have to think about what you are doing and which way things are going to make it all work! But we paper engineers are pretty good at doing that!

If you don’t already own a Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine, I heartily recommend one.  I use mine almost everyday.

Easy Snowman Christmas Tags to Make

Snowman Christmas Tags

It feels like winter today, even in Houston,Texas!  I even wore my real winter jacket this morning to go out since the temperature was about 43 degrees.  That is pretty cold for Houston!  I know there may be blizzards in other parts of the country, but cold weather here just means “put on a jacket of some sort”. So in honor of the polar vortex or whatever cold blast most of the country is seeing right now, I thought some snowman project was in order! Here are some super simple snowmen that could be placed on a card or scrapbook page or in this case, I have made them into tags.

You can make them whatever size you like.  Either use the Circle Framelits as I did for three different sizes or use your circle punches. You just need any pleasing sizes of small, medium, and large circles.  Then cut a square for the hat (mine is 1 1/4″ square) and a piece from the Word Window Punch (who knew how handy THAT punch was going to be when it came out!). I sponged a little White Craft Ink on his hat and brim. The snowman pieces are also sponged with a little bit of Soft Sky Ink. We used to make the snowman arms with the old Snowflake Punch (don’t know if that was the name or not) but since that is not current, I just punched out the branches/leaves from the Bird Punch and those will be the snowman’s arms. Stick on a little piece of ribbon for his scarf, maybe a little flower on his hat from either the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack or the Boho Blossoms Punch. I just used a black marker to draw in his eyes and coal mouth, handcut the little snip of orange (any orange will do) for his carrot nose and popped all three pieces up with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  You could do him flat as well. The hole for the tag is punched with the 1/8″ Handheld Punch and tied with Silver 1/8″ Ribbon. Before adding the Rhinestone to the flower on his hat, I colored it with the Cherry Cobbler Blendabilities Marker, but you could leave it plain. Another project that you can do as fancy or plain as you like.

Here are some of the main supplies I used for this project.  Just click on any picture to see it in my Stampin’ Up! Online Store!

Calling All Heroes Birthday Card

Calling All Heroes Birthday Card

This was a pretty easy birthday card to make for my son with the Circle Card Thinlits Die and the Calling All Heroes Photopolymer Stamp Set. I love that stamp set. You might think I didn’t get the buildings stamped very well on the front of the card and you might possibly be right – except for the fact that I read where another demo didn’t get her stamp on the block right and stamped something similar to what I did here.  But instead of calling it a mistake, she thought it made the buildings look rather hazy so she just called it a new technique! My “new technique” goes even farther, as you can see almost all of the buildings look as if they are in a haze or mist, which often happens around here in Houston. It almost gives a romantic look to the city skyscrapers! So I just have another look to my city skyline stamping!  Ha!

And with the Calling All Heroes Stamp Set, you can customize your characters!  You can stamp different heads and disguises to make them heroes or villains! I think it is a fun stamp set to play with! Great for girls or boys, children or adults!

Here is the inside of the card, stamped with a greeting from the Hey You Stamp Set. The stars are punched with the star punch in the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack.

Color Me Autumn Hello Fall Card

Color Me Autumn Hello Fall Card

The Stampin’ Up! Holiday Catalog goes live tomorrow, August 28th, and one of my favorite products in the whole catalog is this gorgeous Color Me Autumn Designer Series Paper. I really love the colors of fall and all the traditional autumn sights:  colored leaves, pumpkins, scarecrows, hay bales, acorns, just to name a few. That’s why this pack of designer paper really appeals to me. It’s not all leaves and acorns, though! Most pages have very pretty softly colored designs that all coordinate.  Remember, you can find the names of coordinating colors on the back of every pack of designer series paper these days! It’s on the back label.

This was a great opportunity to use the Mossy Meadow In Color card stock for the card base. And I was really drawn to using the Gold Foil Sheets as an accent on this card with this beautiful paper. The stamping is from the For All Things Stamp Set, coming in the Holiday Catalog. Love that stamp set as well! It has that soft watercolor look to it. For the centerpiece, I die cut the shapes with the Labels Collections Framelits and the Big Shot.  (You can purchase the Apothecary Art stamp set and the Labels Framelits as a Bundle in the Annual Catalog.)

With the summer heat, a lot of us are anxious to be able to say “Hello, Fall!” like on this stamp! Using the Color Me Autumn Designer Series Paper and the For All Things stamp set can get you in the mood for fall!

I have no link today for the Holiday Catalog tomorrow, but to put in your order tomorrow, just go to my Stampin’ Up! Online Store and you will see where to click for the Holiday Catalog somewhere!

Baseball Circle Thinlits Birthday Card

Baseball Circle Thinlits Birthday Card

It has been awhile since I used my Circle Card Thinlits Die and this birthday baseball card presented the perfect opportunity. This card copies a couple ideas I saw online in making a baseball card and I thought using the Thinlits Die so that it would open like this made it extra special. The Circle Card Thinlits Die makes it easy to make a card base as it does all the work for you! Then just decorate up a storm to make it into the card you want.

Here is what the card looks like on the inside when it is unfolded.  The hardest part of this card is photographing it, not making it!

Flower Fair Framelits and the Big Shot

Flower Patch Flower Fair Birthday Card

The Flower Patch Stamp Set makes beautiful flowers on a birthday card, but would you like to cut them all out after you stamped them, or would you rather use the Big Shot and the Flower Fair Framelits Dies? You could cut them with Paper Snips but it’s easier to use the Big Shot!

The background of the Crumb Cake card base is stamped with the stripe from the Work of Art Stamp Set. The Birthday greeting is from the Four You stamp setone that I love for greetings!

I really liked adding the sequins on the card from the In Color Sequin Assortment. Those three were just enough, though. I had planned to put some on the birthday greeting too. You have to know when to stop!

If you don’t own a Big Shot, you want to consider the August Big Shot special from Stampin’ Up!  Purchase a Big Shot and choose a select bundle free!  If you already own a Big Shot, choose any of the bundles at a 15% discount. Everyone who has a Big Shot loves it and uses it a lot.

If you are not familiar with a Big Shot, watch this Stampin’ Up! video! I had chosen a little notebook cover in the catalog on page 155 to copy as a card. When I watched this video again, well, check out the last project she shows you!  My ESP has been working overtime lately! Yes, I had seen this video before, but really was not thinking about it when I chose the design for the card!  Must have been buried in my subconscious!!

Just go to my Stampin’ Up! Online Store and order your Big Shot and choose your free bundle! You’ll be glad you did!
