Create a Cupcake Birthday Card

Create a Cupcake Birthday Card

Let's celebrate one special birthday with a Create a Cupcake birthday card. August seems to be a big month for birthdays but I didn't think it was that way when I was growing up. There was mine and my grandpa's in August, making me on the young side when I started school.  By junior high I knew another girl that had a birthday in August. But now I know lots of people with August birthdays! And I need to make some cards!

This card started as being somewhat of a CASE of a card in the Stampin' Up! Catalog, but I went on to make my own version. The Create a Cupcake stamp set is a cute one and if you have the matching Cupcake Punch #121807 there's no cutting involved! I also made good use of the Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine #113439 with the background embossed with the Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder #117335, the pretty border cut with the Finishing Touches Edgelit #1217010 and the doily layer cut with the Delicate Doilies Sizzlit #126999. The little flowers stamped at the bottom with Versamark #102283 are also in the Create a Cupcake stamp set.

You can't see in the photo, but I embossed the tiny cherry with our Cherry Scented Stampin' Emboss Powder #127035. I think the cherry was too tiny to have an impact with the scent but it was fun to try. And for some bling I got carried away with the Basic Rhinestone Jewels #119246

Trendy Mason Jars!

Yesterday Stampin' Up! did something they have never done before! They live streamed about thirty minutes of the last general session of the 2012 Convention to us demonstrators.  I think it was mainly to give us all a taste of what attending Convention is like, for those who haven't attended yet. Next year will be the 25th Anniversary of Stampin' Up! and you can imagine that they will do that convention up right!

During the live stream, Sara Douglass, Shelli Gardner's daughter, gave a demonstration of some decorating ideas for mason jars!  When you see the Holiday Catalog August 1st you will see why! Apparently mason jars are trendy items right now!

Here are some photos that I took of my computer screen during the live stream from the Stampin' Up! Convention!

Tie DyeTag for Mason Jar

Here's a tag she made look tie-dyed just by embossing and then coloring in (not neatly!) with various inks.  The bottom tag is embossed with the chevron design.

Doily Mason Jar

Very pretty!  I'll have to listen again to catch the instructions! I'm sure you recognize the doily die.

Mason Jar Cards

Here are matching cards you could give as a gift or have people write advice or good wishes at a wedding or shower or whatever occasion. Then they get put in the mason jar!

Mason Jar Idea

And here's another creative idea…this time the jar is filled with something (mints?) to hold skewers attached to decorations or flowers or whatever you would want to make…just like a vase.

Rosette in Wedding Mason Jar

All Images copyright Stampin' Up! 2012

And here's one item she made to stick in the jar for a wedding gift for a friend.  She also stuck a gift card holder on the back.

Even thirty minutes of live Stampin' Up! was great fun!

Top Note Tag

Top Note Tag

This Top Note Bigz Die #113463 for the Big Shot has always been popular, but I hadn't used mine in a little while so it was time to dust it off. It's just good, that's all there is to it!  I was able to cut several sheets of paper and a thin piece of card board with it.  I used the card board to give a little sturdiness to this Top Note Tag in between the card stock and designer paper.

I used Soft Suede card stock on the back (which you can't see) and the new In Color Summer Starfruit for the front. I stamped the plant image from Papaya Collage with Summer Starfruit Ink. I even tried to emboss it with Clear Embossing Powder, but that didn't turn out well. The designer paper on the bottom of the tag is from Comfort Cafe #126898. The ribbon I tied around the middle is the Chocolate Chip 1/2" Scallop Dots Ribbon #124142 but I turned it over so the dots wouldn't show!  Two colors of ribbon in one!!  The greeting at the bottom is from the Perfect Punches stamp set…and of course you can punch those greetings out "perfectly" with various punches!

Making a creative tag like this for your next gift-giving occasion will certainly be appreciated by the recipient!  If you don't own the Big Shot or the Top Note Die, go right to my Online Store and order them!  If you do order those two items, add a little more to your order plus the $5 Reason to Smile stamp set and you'll have enough to receive Hostess Rewards!  At the $150 level you will have $25 to spend on another die for the Big Shot…or anything else!

Stampin’ Up! Essentials Paper-Piercing Pack

If you thought you liked the old Paper-Piercing Tool and Mat Pack with the one paper-piercing template, you will LOVE the new bigger and better Essentials Paper-Piercing Pack #126187. This pack has 3 templates, each 6"x6". There is also the new Paper-Piercing Tool #126189 and the Stampin' Pierce Mat #126199 You can find all these great new stamping tools on page 181 of the new Stampin' Up! Catalog.

Essentials Paper-Piercing Pack

In making this card, first I cut the edge with the new Large Scallop Edgelits Die #127019.

Large Scallop Edgelit

Next I matched up my scallop edge with the proper scallop template.

Paper-Piercing Design Template

Then I used the new Paper-Piercing Tool, which is much more comfortable to hold and use due to the ergonomic design of the handle. It even comes with a protective tip and storage tube.

Paper-Pierced Card

Isn't that lovely?!!  And so easy to do now with the larger template. With this finished card being 3"x6" I did have to move the template over to finish off the scallop but that wasn't difficult.

Christmas Milk Carton Gift Box

Milk Carton Gift Box

Summer may be here but the other day I made this cute Christmas milk carton with the Big Shot and wanted to show you.  And it never hurts to start thinking about Christmas crafts way ahead of time!  Of course you can make this for any occasion, just change the colors and papers.

While you can make just the usual milk carton box, I punched a hole in the center of one side (figure it out before you glue!) and added a piece of window sheet behind the hole.  Now you can put some colorful candies or a sneak peek of the gift and it will show through!

For this project some of the supplies you will need:

Mini Milk Carton Bigz L Die #117310

Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine #113439

Chock-Full of Cheer Stamp Set (p. 10)

I used a mini Library Clip on the top, but you could perhaps use a Vintage Trinket #118764, just to add a little interest and then hang the candy cane with some Baker's Twine or even Linen Thread.

I'm sure you can imagine lots more ways to embellish this project!

For any stamping supplies, please visit my online store HERE. (Especially if you have a large order…$150 or more….be SURE to go to my direct link to my store…not through Stampin' Up! first…to be able to get your Hostess Rewards!) If you have any questions, just ask me first!

Graduation Framelit Card

Graduation Framelit Card

It certainly is graduation time, and here is one card I made with the Labels Collection Framelits Die. I've been pulling out a lot of retired stamps and paper for just the right things I needed for this graduation project.  This "Happy Graduation" stamp is one of the a la carte ones we had called "Happy Grad".  If you don't own the stamp, you can purchase the download in My Digital Studio and print it out!  I just did that with a few other graduation projects going on with another graduation stamp brush set! The background is embossed with the polka dot embossing folder on the Big Shot, and I also used the Big Shot to cut out the letters.  I love the Antique Brads on this card!  The paper is Shimmery White…perhaps if you click on the photo to enlarge it you will be able to notice the shimmer!  Love that paper!

I hope this gives you some ideas if you are making some cards for those special graduates! If you need any stamping supplies or digital downloads, you can shop at my Online Store HERE!

Mother’s Day Nursery Nest Card for Mom

Mother's Day Nursery Nest Card for Mom

I had such fun playing with this Nursery Nest Designer Series Paper to make another Mother's Day card. I even found this scallop trim scrap in my Whisper White scraps from the Tasteful Trim Die #120893. I pulled out the Broadsheet Alphabet to stamp "Mom".  I thought I might add some bling to the word but decided to just add the pearls at the bottom.  It's just a nice, soft, pretty color scheme in this designer paper.

Be sure you send your mom a beautiful card for Mother's Day this Sunday!

The Beginnings of a Graduation Announcement

Graduation Announcement Beginnings

Here are the beginnings of the graduation announcements I am making for my son.  Of course they should be in the mail by now, but that's okay! These are such a combination of elements….from a retired graduation stamp, to paper from the college bookstore, to the frame and name of school made in My Digital Studio, retired Really Rust card stock to the current Naturally Serif Sizzlits Decorative Strip Die (but retiring) #113453 and the Stripes Textured Impressions Embossing Folder #123128. They're all assembled now…just have to adhere the actual announcement to the inside and get them in the mail! Nothing like the last minute!

If you need ideas for graduation cards or announcements, just check the "Graduation" category over in the right sidebar. And then if you need some stamping supplies (or My Digital Studio downloads) just go shop at my Stampin' Up! Online Store HERE.

Daffodil Delight Bitty Box

Daffodil Delight Bitty Box

So sad to think that this cute little Bitty Box & Envelope Bigz XL Die #115967 will soon be retired.  This box in Daffodil Delight measures about 2 1/2" on each side so it is "bitty" but very cute!  You could put little notecards, tags or a small gift inside, and the other part of the die cuts a little envelope you can use for inside the box.

I stamped some images on the box, a little flower from the retiring stamp set Clearly for You (available in wood- or clear-mount).  For the little monogram on top I used the beautiful Lovely Letters Alphabet #115030 and the Scallop Circle Punch #119854. For some bling, I added the tiniest pearls to the scallops. The ribbon wrapped around the inside of the lid is actually the 1 1/4" Striped Grosgrain Ribbon in Wild Wasabi #125059 (also retiring).

Be sure to check all the retired products right here in my Online Store!

Summer Smooches Petite Vellum Purse

Summer Smooches Petite Purse

Today is the last day to purchase any of the Summer Smooches products, including this Petite Purse Die #125606,  It will be available in the new catalog in June…..IF you want to wait that long!!

I made this purse out of White Vellum card stock #101856 and then embossed just the flap with the Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder #117355.  A few little punched flowers, rhinestones and a bow make it a cute little gift or favor or decoration.  You could put a little gift inside or make small little notecards or tags!  Very cute and so easy!

To place an order today for any Summer Smooches items, just go to my online store HERE.

Summer Smooches Bright Blossoms Card

Summer Smooches Bright Blossoms Card

Don't forget….if you can't live with the Summer Smooches Collection of products, you've got to get them by April 30th….or you'll have to wait until the new catalog comes out! This is such a bright, happy suite I'm sure you will love it!

On this card I just used the beautiful red dotted paper in the Summer Smooches Designer Series Paper, cut a square with the Bigz Scallop Squares Duo Die for the Big Shot, and stamped a vase with the Bright Blossoms Stamp Set.  The flowers are punched with the Boho Blossoms Punch #119858 to give a little 3-D effect to the card. And why not add some bling with the Rhinestone Jewels?!

You can find all the Summer Smooches products HERE in my Online Store!

A Gate-Fold Circus Big Top Birthday Card for a Boy

Circus Gate Fold Card

Often times we think it is difficult to come up with a card for a boy or a man, but once you put your mind to it, it's really not impossible!  And nothing says this card couldn't be for a girl, but I did need a card for a young boy.

This is a gate-fold card, which is very easy to make. Once you have the idea, you could vary the size to whatever you need.  I started with a 5 1/4" x 12" piece of card stock for the base. It is scored at 2", 4", 8" and 10". That gives you a 4" center with each side (4") folded in half.

Circus Gate Fold Card top

Here is the inside decorated with the Big Top Birthday Designer Series Paper #122348. Besides just using the paper, I cut out some images to place on the card.  Also, another fun thing is to add die-cuts from the Big Top Birthday Quick Accents #122368.

Circus Gate Fold Card Inside

You can do various things with the front of the card.  I chose to make a belly band around, cut out a medallion from the Perfect Pennants Die #123126 and stuck on a self-adhesive accent from the Quick Accents.  You can find the designer paper and the Quick Accents on the main catalog on pages 186-7.  All of these papers and Quick Accents are great for scrapbooking, but you can use them for any kind of project!

To shop for any Stampin' Up! products, just click HERE.  Be sure to check the Clearance Rack if you are doing an online order (last week Stampin' Up! added a lot of new items to the Clearance Rack but inventory can change rapidly depending on demand)….and don't forget about the Retired List of stamp sets! (this is an updated list to print in black and white if you choose).

Petite Purse Die Scored Design

Petite Purse Simply Scored Tool

Here is a fancy little purse made with the Petite Purse Die #125606 in the Summer Smooches Suite, available during April. I wanted to make it extra jazzy so I experimented with scoring it like some fabric you see and I used the Simply Scored Scoring Tool #122334 with the Simply Scored Diagonal Plate #125586.  Now my first try didn't come out perfect and it is a little tricky because you can't just lay the paper down flush with the sides….but if you place the card stock die cut down on the scoring tool, you can make it work.

Petite Purse Die Simply Scored

Next I will try scoring the paper first, although I think you would have to lay it in the same direction of the die to the score lines are going the way you like.  Anyway, this little purse turned out cute and has a little "bling" with the punched flowers accented with a Basic Rhinestone #119246 in the center and the little Rhinestone Brads #113144 attaching the handle to the sides of the purse.

There is so much you can do with this little purse!  Put one on your next order and have fun with it!

Punch Art Bunny Tails Easter Favor Treat Bag

Punch Art Bunny Tails Easter Favor Treat Bag

If you need just a simple little cute Easter treat with a bunny on it, this is it!  I saw this on Pinterest and remade it with Stampin' Up! supplies, of course! I think it would be cuter with little white marshmallows in the bag, but I didn't have any in the pantry so I used little white robin's egg Easter candy instead.

There is still time to make some Easter treats while you are waiting for the bunny to come!  Get out some punches and Whisper White card stock and punch away! It's really fun to make little Easter favors like this!

The top of the treat bag is die cut with the Big Shot Top Note die and folded in half.  The words are just hand-written with a Stampin' Write Marker and the little stitching accents are made with the Signo Gel Pen (just highlighting what is already scored on there from the Top Note Die).

I'm sure children would think it was fun to find a little treat bag made for them in their Easter Baskets!

Summer Smooches Halloween!! What??!

Happy Halloween!!

Halloween Cross-Stitch

April Fool's!!!

Ok, I know it is April Fool's and not Halloween!  But this isn't really even an April Fool's joke because I really got this gift just the other day!!  And I just LOVE it because I LOVE Halloween!! My college friend/roommate/fellow stamper Sally had asked me what my favorite holiday was.  I didn't know why she asked but I said I loved Halloween…..so this is what I got in the mail!  She warned me I had said Halloween! She made me this beautiful cross-stitch, which is something I could have picked out for myself because it is just my style!  In fact, before stamping, I used to do cross-stitch like this…and probably have lots of Halloween cross-stitch kits and projects and materials in the closet that I've never gotten around to doing!

Here are some close-ups of the ghost and Frankenstein!

Ghosts

Frankie

Isn't it the cutest thing??!! And what a nice surprise to get a gift like this in the mail!!  I don't know if I can put it away and wait until October.

And now that it is April 1st, Stampin' Up! is offering a sneak peek of a brand-new suite of products that will be in the new Stampin' Up! 2012-13 Catalog called Summer Smooches!  You can see a flyer of all the products right HERE. These products are only available during the month of April…after that, you will have to wait for the new catalog!

So I wondered if I could make a Halloween card with the Summer Smooches Designer Series Paper…..and sure enough, I could!!
