Catalog Corrections:

  • Empty stamp cases are still available but were left out of the catalog. They can be used for your stamps or storing other items. Maybe you want to cut this illustration out of your OLD catalog and paste it into your new catalog. Or print out this photo below.

  • In the Regals Collection (page 4), the color swatch for Garden Green is incorrect. Click here to see the correct color.
  • The Soft Sayings Card Kit Refill (page 11) does not include a clear stamp block. The text should read as follows:
“Includes everything from the Soft Sayings Card Kit—minus the stamp set, ink, clear stamp block, and box—so you can create 20 cards.”
  • The It’s Your Birthday sample (page 73) uses the bows from the Balloon Pop-Up Thinlits Dies (in the 2017 Occasions catalog), which retired May 31.
  • The Super Duper Stamp Set artwork (page 74) makes it appear as though the dotted line image is part of the Yay! Image. They are actually two separate images.
  • The photo for the Whole Lot of Lovely Designer Series Paper (page 188) shows the two center papers with the wrong designs on the back. The black paper with the bold flowers should be shown with the multicolor stripe design on the back, and the green paper with white leaves should be shown with the pink and white flowers on the back.
  • The Stampin’ Trimmer Replacement Mat (page 205) includes two replacement mats, instead of one as listed.
  • Some of the images in the Tranquil Tulips Stamp Set artwork (page 223) are sized incorrectly.

I hope you will find the new Stampin’ Up! Catalog exciting and inspiring!  Just think of the millions of ideas, card and projects that will come out of all those wonderful products in the catalog!

The Store is open! You can shop for anything you want in the new catalog.  There are a few things backordered.  You can figure those were extremely popular with Demonstrators during our Preorder. The New Stampin’ Up! Catalog Begins Today!

Quick and Easy Birthday Card with Doily

Today is the day we’ve all been waiting for!  The new Stampin’ Up! Catalog begins today! At least, this afternoon! Ordering from the new catalog should begin by Noon (Mountain Time).

Here is a birthday card I made with the new Happy Birthday Gorgeous Photopolymer Stamp Set.  The card base is one of the new In Colors, Berry Burst, and the layered designer paper is from the Fresh Florals Designer Series Paper Stack.  This paper is copied from the popular Floral Boutique Designer Series Paper from the previous catalog, but in the In Colors. It’s beautiful!

The Happy Birthday greeting is stamped on a piece of Whisper White with Berry Burst ink and die cut with the Stitched Shapes Framelits Die.  The little stamped flowers are also in that stamp set. Then this circle is layered on a pretty Delicate White DoilyAfter adhering that to the front of the card, I couldn’t resist adding one of the new Glitter Enamel Dots. You for sure will want at least one package of these in your stash, although they were so popular with Demonstrators that they are backordered but more are on the way early next week! Get some while you can in case they go on backorder again.

This was just a quick and easy card to use some new products to celebrate the new Stampin’ Up! 2017-18 Annual Catalog!

Coins on Military Tombstones

Memorial Day Cemetary

Fort Rosecrans National Cemetary

Today is Memorial Day, a day commemorating those men and women who gave their lives in military service to our country. It’s something we should all think about as we often go about our holiday activities on this day. It used to be called Decoration Day and used to be celebrated on the real day, May 30, until we went to the Monday holidays.

On the local news yesterday, I heard this story about leaving coins on a military tombstone. I’m not sure that I’d heard of it, or if I did, I didn’t remember what it meant. This story said that leaving a coin on a tombstone lets the family know that someone stopped by to pay respects to their soldier.  A penny shows that someone visited. A nickel means you trained with the soldier. A dime means you served with that soldier. A quarter means you were there when that soldier was killed.

You can watch the video below, it’s quite touching, or read the article HERE.

Are You Backing Up Your Photos??

Computer photos

Do you back up the photos that are on your computer or even on your phone?? Do you intend to do it just as soon as you get the laundry done, after your vacation, after dinner, after you buy an external hard drive, after you get a new computer, after you organize all your photos first??!

Yesterday I listened to a Facebook Live video (it was live the day before) by Becky Higgins, the founder of Project Life®. Stampin’ Up!, of course, has partnered with Becky and Project Life on kits using Stampin’ Up! exclusive colors to make memory-keeping easier so we “get it done”. But this isn’t about Project Life, nor even Becky Higgins.

I know we all assume our “stuff” is all safe on our computers, laptops and phones and hard drives crashing is something that happens to someone else. Well, on this video, you can hear how one of Becky’s employees, who DOES know better, had her external hard drive crash where she had thousands and thousands of photos stored. You’ll hear the very human story at the beginning of her realizing what had just happened. The good news is that as she searched the house she found a pile of old CD’s on which she had backed up photos a long time ago and previous hard drives and she took all these devices and probably retrieved most of her photos, as best she can remember, without paying a LOT of money to try to recover data on her external hard drive that crashed. The two ladies have many suggestions for how to keep your photos backed up in case anything happens, although, as they claim, they are not experts and different systems work better for other people, but at least you can get some real ideas and then do your own research.  If nothing else, maybe it will remind you that this is something in this digital world, that we need to do in exchange for the convenience of all this computer stuff! As they say, if your hard drive hasn’t crashed yet, it will! Sometime!

Watch this recorded Facebook Live Video on Becky Higgin’s Facebook Page and start thinking about your digital photos and files and what would be best for you to do to protect them!  If you aren’t on Facebook, it probably will eventually be on her YouTube channel.

Back Up Your Photos! Don’t lose them!!

Chevron Houston Marathon 2017 Runner Card

Chevron Houston Marathon 2017 Runner Card

This morning was the Chevron Houston Marathon, a very big event here in Houston, Texas, so I thought I would celebrate the day with a marathon runner card! Early this morning 27,000 runners began running through the streets of Houston, either running the half-marathon of 13 miles or the full marathon of 26 miles! It’s amazing to see the massive crowd of runners passing by, from the elite runners to the regular people who are just doing it for the experience.  There are people of all kinds – I saw a few little kids running with their mom, men older than my husband (who was running the half-marathon), super-skinny people, not-so-skinny people, lots of dogs out with their owners watching from the sidelines, families watching for their loved ones, lots of people with cowbells or in costume, music, whistles, boxes of tissues, anything they could think of to inspire the runners and entertain them to take their minds off the difficult task of the run. Runners come from all over the world and from right here in Houston. It’s amazing!  Only to watch, of course, for me!

To commemorate the Houston Marathon, I put together this card with Stampin’ Up! punches and paper, just making it up as I went!

Congratulations to all the runners, the people who put on the marathon, and ALL the Houston Police (HPD) and other security people I saw EVERYWHERE keeping the streets closed off, keeping the runners and observers safe. It really is a tremendous undertaking!

If you would like to make cards or scrapbook pages to commemorate the special events in your life, and just for fun, please consider Stampin’ Up! products!  Everything you need for papercrafting and stamping!

Did You See Sara Douglass on the Today Show?!

Sara Douglass on Today

Image Stampin’ Up! 2016

Did you see Sara Douglass, CEO of Stampin’ Up! on the Today Show yesterday??  She was there to donate $2.5 million dollars in Stampin’ Up! papercrafting products to the annual Today Show 2016 Toy Drive.  In fact, the donation was so generous that the Today Show electronic screen didn’t even go above $2 million!

On display was the Tin of Tags Project Kit, and Sara mentioned part of the donation would be kits, that make it easy for anyone to create!

See Stampin’ Up! Cardstock Being Cut and Packaged!

Stampin' Up! Cardstock Cutting and Packaging

I LOVE seeing behind the scenes for just about anything! Yesterday Sara Douglass, CEO of Stampin’ Up!, was in Kanab, Utah at the Stampin’ Up! manufacturing facility and did a Facebook Live video showing how our beautiful cardstock is cut and packaged. I love finding out things like this! The top Demonstrators who always got to go on a special retreat always got a side trip to Kanab to tour this facility and meet the employees, but for the rest of us, this is mostly our first glimpse.

You will see the giant sheets that our cardstock starts out being and how it is cut with an amazing cutter that slices right through the stack and then how it is packaged before it is shipped out to us!  Sara says she will do more videos for us! Kanab is also where they make our stamps!  That would be interesting to see!

Click on the photo above or HERE which just takes you to Sara’s Facebook business page. Then depending on when you see this, you will have to scroll down or find the video in her feed. I don’t think there is a way to link directly. Perhaps it will be on YouTube at some point if you are unable to view it on Facebook. I also shared it on my Facebook page, Stamping with Karen.

I hope you enjoy the video. And if you need any of that cardstock, you can order it from Stampin’ Up! Online HERE!
