New Photopolymer Stamps for Travel Projects

Travel Photopolymer setsStampin’ Up! just released two new photopolymer stamp sets (photopolymer-what??) for your stamping pleasure! They are Map It Out and Greetings From. They both have travel themes so will be great for scrapbooking your summer (or fall) travels…..and of course they’re not “just” for travel!  And not just for scrapbooking!

Photopolymer are the stamps that are clear themselves and go on the clear blocks so you can see right through them when you stamp.  They’re very sticky so they work well on the blocks.

At Convention last summer, Shannon West showed on stage how she makes cards in My Digital Studio ahead of her trip with a map or states on the front and shows her travel, and then she sends them out.  Now you can use these new stamps of the USA map to do something similar.

Carryover Stampin’ Up! Stamp Sets for the Holidays

Just a reminder that there are several stamp sets for the holidays that are available for purchase that are not shown in the Stampin’ Up! catalog. For the first time, there are no holiday stamp sets available in the annual catalog, but these six stamp sets are still available during the 2013-14 catalog year. They are available in the Stampin’ Up! Online Store or through your demonstrator (like me!). Of course these stamp sets are available in wood- or clear-mount.

These holiday stamp sets really add to your choices for your holiday cards and projects besides what stamp sets and products are in the Stampin’ Up! Holiday Catalog. I don’t know about you, but I like to know all my choices when I am shopping for anything (which is sometimes a curse!!). So I just wanted to remind you of these past stamp sets that are still available this catalog year.

Whatever you need, you will find in my Stampin’ Up! Online Store!  Or feel free to ask if you have any questions!

Surprises Galore for My Milestone Birthday

What a weekend and what a birthday! I went from not having anything special planned at all for my birthday except probably my husband and I going to a nice restaurant for dinner, well not probably, for sure!!

My one son emailed and said he and his brother were coming home for the weekend (they live about 3 hours away). On Friday he emailed again that he and his girlfriend were coming that night but Steven would come on Saturday, and Eric was staying over Monday and Tuesday, but Steven and Heather would drive back on Sunday. Ok.

Everybody arrived Friday night and Saturday at the designated times.  Steven’s car needed to go in the shop for a new battery and oil. Since my back had been acting up for two weeks as well as our new refrigerator, I hadn’t done any grocery shopping and didn’t. But Steven is sticking to his food allergy diet right now which means Mom needs to cook food at home so he doesn’t get any offending substance. Since my back was doing better I made a quick trip to the grocery store and bought some very nice beef tenderloin steaks and other stuff for a nice dinner. When I got the groceries put away, Eric told me he and his girlfriend were meeting a high school friend at 6:30. I thought that was a bit early and wondered how I was going to get this expensive dinner I’d just bought prepared very quickly so they could leave and besides, Steven’s car needed to be picked up at the shop.  But I’m pretty good at that so I got dinner made fairly quickly and as soon as they were finished eating they left, ignoring my suggestion to let their friend know they were going to be a little late rather than rushing through dinner. But moms are used to being ignored with advice.

When Eric and Heather came back home, a little earlier than I expected, I looked up, and here was my daughter Amy who had flown in from California for my birthday!!  Eric had gone to get her at the airport, not visiting his friend! I haven’t had a surprise like that since my bridal shower! I was completely stunned! She usually isn’t home except at Christmas. And that was just the day before my birthday!

Fontinelle Family

On Sunday besides birthday phone calls from friends and family, I got red and white roses from my husband, large fancy chocolate bars from Eric, fancy brownies Steven had baked himself, and and a beautiful chocolate birthday cake Amy had ordered from a really good bakery here.

Chocolate Bars

Birthday Cake

Cooking class photos are still on Amy’s camera so I don’t have them yet!

This was a birthday I’ll never forget and what could be better than spending it with all three children (plus my son’s lovely girlfriend!)! I would never have dreamed this big birthday was going to be so wonderful and memorable and fun!

New Magnetic Platform Went Like Hotcakes!

As soon as the new catalog came out, I ordered the Big Shot Magnetic Platform to use with the framelits dies to hold them in place rather than sticking them down with post-it notes. Except for making the sandwich wrong more than once and having the framelits cut into my platform (duh!), I have loved using it and find it very handy.  So has everyone else apparently because they sold like hotcakes and now Stampin’ Up! has a backorder situation. You might consider ordering one now before July 18th so you will perhaps get yours a little sooner than waiting until they become available again. Not sure you will get it right away but perhaps you will be farther ahead in the line!

News from Stampin’ Up! today:

Due to an unfortunate backorder situation, the Big Shot Magnetic Platform (item 130658) will be temporarily turned off Thursday, July 18, at 12:01 AM (MT). This means that you won’t be able to buy it until further notice. While we’re thrilled to be offering a product that you and your customers clearly like, we regret not being able to anticipate just how much you would like it. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Here are answers to some of the questions you might have:

Why are you doing this?
We went through what we thought would be a 13-week supply of the Magnetic Platform in just three weeks, and rather than continuing the backorder situation your customers, we believe it’s best to make it unavailable for purchase until we can replenish our inventory. Our supplier is working at capacity to meet our demand, and we will continue working closely with them to get the situation addressed as quickly as possible.

When will the Magnetic Platform be available?
We expect that it will be available early fall.

What if I already ordered it when it was on backorder?
We’ll fill all closed backorders as we get more Magnetic Platforms in. We are receiving periodic shipments from our vendor and as soon as they come in we’ll fulfill orders in the approximate order they were received.

Remember, you have until Thursday, July 18, at 12:01 AM (MT) to close current Magnetic Platform orders (or make a new one); all of these placed orders will be on backorder.

Just email me at Karen@KarenStamps.com or preferably order online at my Stampin’ Up! Online Store here.  Put the Magnetic Platform on your order and don’t forget about the Buy 3 Get 1 Free offer on Stampin’ Up! Designer Paper!

New Stampin’ Up! Magnetic Platform

What’s the first thing I wanted to put on my first order out of the new Stampin’ Up! Catalog? The Magnetic Platform!  It is used with the Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine to hold the framelits and edgelits when cutting those shapes.  No need for Post-It Notes to hold the framelits in place so they don’t move while going through the Big Shot!  I think it will be especially useful for the edgelits which cut beautiful edges but are very difficult to line up, even with Post-Its.

I know you will enjoy this video from Stampin’ Up! about the Magnetic Platform, and if you own the Big Shot you will definitely want to put this on your list!

Celebrate Memorial Day

memorial-day-shadow-soldier

Memorial Day is a federal holiday in the United States to honor men and women who died while in the military. I remember when it originally was called Decoration Day.  At many national cemetaries there are ceremonies and volunteers who place small American flags on all the graves. Amidst all the sales at the mall that seem to take over our holidays and the unofficial beginning of summer as many people use this weekend for traveling and summer fun, we should all pause to remember the real meaning of this holiday.

If you have family members who served in the military, you might want to check out www.Ancestry.com which is giving free access to draft, enlistment and service records through May 27th. It is SO fascinating to look up these records.  You just have to sign up for a free account.  I just looked up my grandfather’s World War I registration card.  He was just my youngest son’s age. It’s amazing to read his physical description, address, and see his signature in his own handwriting.  These records might be something you can use in your scrapbooking.

Enjoy your day!
