August Paper Pumpkin Kit from Stampin’ Up! Monthly Subscription

August Paper Pumpkin Kit Contents

Paper Pumpkin, the monthly subscription kit from Stampin’ Up! for new and ANY papercrafters, arrived in my mailbox! The box itself is so cute (see previous post)!  I wonder what the post office thinks when they see a bunch of these bright boxes going through the system! And the wrapping inside just gets you more excited to see what is in the box! In the picture above, you can see the contents of my August Paper Pumpkin kit. This month had two stamps included, which you punch out of the die-cut rubber, remove the white covering and mount on the label if you like.  You will already have a clear block from your first kit, the Welcome Kit.

Here is the card I stamped and assembled exactly as the instructions indicated.

August Paper Pumpkin Kit Card with Bicycle

The card base just had to be folded in half and already had the blue polka dots printed on them.  I applied the strips across the card and the little banners (all had adhesive on the back) and then stamped the bicycle and the “thanks” banner.  Done!

Then if you want, you can play around and make your own designs! Or you can make the cards all the same.  It’s your time to be creative!  Do what you want!

August Paper Pumpkin Kit Extra Cards

If you would like to receive Paper Pumpkin in YOUR mailbox in September, hurry and subscribe. Right now, until next Saturday, August 31, you can subscribe for only $10 a month for the first two months with the special promo code of PUMPKINDEAL!  You will receive the Welcome Kit first which contains your complimentary clear block (worth the price of admission right there!). I have to say I think the Welcome Kit is cuter in person than in the photos.  I enjoyed it.

Then in October, you will receive whatever surprise kit everyone else is receiving. Yes, it’s a surprise! You’ll find out what the kit is when you open your box! That’s part of the fun!

After two months of the special price, the price will go to the regular price of $19.95 a month, which does include shipping. You can cancel at any time or just skip a month a two if you like and then resume your subscription.  The 10th of the month is the magic date to remember if you want your choice to apply for that month’s kit.

For example, subscribe by Sept. 10th, receive the September Kit.  Subscribe after Sept. 10th and receive the October Kit.  The same applies for cancelling or pausing your subscription.

Go to my Paper Pumpkin page and subscribe right now so you won’t miss out on that $10 offer!  It’s too good to be true!  Try it for two months and see how you like it!  No obligation, no commitment, just enjoy!  Just be sure to click on “Add Promo Code” and type in PUMPKINDEAL. On the next page you’ll see your Order Summary at the top and you can see that your discount was applied.

Today is Tell a Joke Day!

Who knows where Tell a Joke Day came from, but a Friday is a great day for telling a joke! See if you can tell one of your favorite ones!

A little boy said to his teacher, “Mrs. Smith, I ain’t got no crayons!” His teacher said, “Young man, you mean ‘I don’t have any crayons.  You don’t have any crayons. We don’t have any crayons.’ Do you see what I am getting at?”   “I think so,” said the little boy. “What happened to all the crayons?”

And usually a family has silly jokes that mean nothing to anybody else and don’t make any sense. Here is one of ours.

My parents were here visiting when my daughter was very little. I forget if Grandpa was teaching her some jokes or if she was telling him a joke, but this is what she came up with:

“Why did the chicken cross the road?  To throw a tomato at the duck!”

For some reason, that stuck and has been a classic saying in our family ever since! This is something that should be written down at the time so you can remember the story precisely thirty years later! As busy as you young mothers are, try to take a second and write down these little moments because they will be treasures in later years!

Make Fun Holiday Banners

I think one of the many hits at the Stampin’ Up! Convention was seeing the making of the holiday banners offered in the Stampin’ Up! Holiday Catalog and variations using the kits. Shelli Gardner’s daughter Sara fascinated all of us with her holiday banners made from kits and the extra projects she also made. It was one of those products that I didn’t necessarily think I was interested in from the catalog until I saw her demonstrate them at Convention. They were in my first order home from Convention!

Build a Banner Simply Created Kit

You can purchase this Build a Banner Simply Created Kit  and receive the canvas banners with grommets, the stencils with the designs and lower-case alphabet, jute twine, stencil mask and spritzer. In the spritzer you mix 70% rubbing alcohol and reinker and spritz VERY lightly and from a distance with the stencil on the banner.  When I saw it demonstrated I thought that surely wasn’t enough color to show up, but it was! The moisture will pool on the stencil so you have to be careful lifting the stencil off. Some demonstrators have found using a spray adhesive on the back of the stencils help hold them in place better.

Canvas Banner Spritzed with Reinker

Images copyright Stampin’ Up! 2013 Here Sara used Gumball Green for the chevrons and Coastal Cabana I believe for the letter.

Using Sponge Dauber to ink up stencil

Here’s another technique you can use. Dip a Sponge Dauber into ink and apply to stencil. This method may work better than spritzing but might take a little longer. Sara only colored some of the dots so it wasn’t a big job to fill in all the dots.

Banner with Sponge Dauber Dots

I haven’t been able to play with my banner kits yet but hopefully soon!  You can purchase extra banners in the Banner Simply Created Kit depending on your project, or if you don’t want the stencils you could just buy these banners. Then if you would like to jazz up your banner without making everything yourself, purchase the Halloween Banner Simply Created Accessory Kit or the Christmas Banner Simply Created Accessory Kit.

Check out these banner kits in the Stampin’ Up! Holiday Catalog and see if you are up for a new kind of project made easy with these kits!

Paper Pumpkin Stampin’ Up! Subscription Kit “Seriously” Cards

Paper Pumpkin April 2013 Seriously

Honestly, when I saw the greetings with this April Paper Pumpkin monthly subscription kit from Stampin' Up!, I wasn't too enthused. Not my style.  BUT when I made the cards, I loved the cards themselves and had fun making them! I think the first one on the bottom row on the left is the example for the kit….the other three I just did other things with…and even had a few pieces from the kit leftover! The background layer is glued down but the other pieces are self-adhesive pieces (and you can move them around and restick!)

Paper Pumpkin isn't for everyone….if you like elaborate papercrafting with lots of layers and embellishments, this is not meant for you. If you have tons of supplies to use, you probably don't need to order a simple kit.

But if you're looking for a quick little treat for yourself each month, want to dip your toes in papercrafting and card making, if you don't have the right supplies to actually make a decent card or project, if you've never even made a card before….then the monthly subscription program from Stampin' Up! called Paper Pumpkin just might be for you! You can sign up with no obligation to continue for any certain length of time…you can pause for a month or two if you want and then continue on.

You can start with a kit for a few months to get the hang of it, then just launch into your own stamping and projects choosing your own supplies from Stampin' Up! It won't always be cards.  Each month is a surprise!

And it doesn't have to be for YOU….maybe you have a daughter, niece, friend, granddaughter, sister who might enjoy a surprise kit in the mail every month! Especially when it is from Stampin' Up!…and you!

Check out Paper Pumpkin from Stampin' Up!

and see what you think!

New Bloomin’ Bouquet Project Kit from Stampin’ Up!

It's not quite May, but if April showers bring May flowers, the rain and flooding we had in Houston on Saturday have brought a nice flower surprise from Stampin' Up! a little early this morning!  It's a new flower kit! The Bloomin' Bouquet Project Kit #134542 $12.95 will be available starting at 3:00 pm MT this afternoon (that's 4:00 pm Central Time)…while supplies last!

Kit contents:

  • 2 sheets of preprinted and precut flowers on 12" X 12" cardstock; makes 13 flowers using Pool Party, Gumball Green, Calypso Coral, Daffodil Delight, and Rich Razzleberry
  • 13 Vintage Faceted Buttons
  • 13 green floral wire stems

Adhesive not included. (Glue gun recommended.)

You actually get a "baker's dozen" of flowers….that means you have one extra to give away!  That means the number 13 is a lucky one here! Lucky for the person you share your handmade flower with!

Just add this kit to your order of retired and current items!  Just remember, it's not available until later this afternoon! The link is not available yet, but here is the link to my Stampin' Up! Online Store.

Cross-Stitch & Papercrafting: Sweet Threads Simply Sent Card

Sweet Threads Simply Sent Card

If you like making cards and papercrafting, and you also like cross-stitching, then this cute Sweet Threads Simply Sent Kit from Stampin' Up! is for you!  My friend Sally was visiting recently and ordered this kit when she was here.  The kit makes 8 printed cards, each of 2 colors. The needle holes are prepierced and the kit comes with embroidery floss and needles. It was a really pleasant surprise to receive this card in the mail from her the other day! She had also ordered the Scallop Trim Border Punch after playing with mine here and you can see her punching on this card!  The greeting is from the Friendly Phrases stamp set.

Sweet Threads Simply Sent

Sally said there was plenty of thread for the designs and that even though she pulled her stitches tight, she didn't break any of the pierced holes! So she thought it was fun to make!

If you want to add something extra to your card-making, please try this kit!  You can also purchase the Essentials stamp set with the words "Thank You" and "Happy Birthday" to go with it….better yet, purchase the Sweet Threads Bundle (the stamp set and the kit) for a 15% savings!

Sign up for Paper Pumpkin, the Stampin’ Up! Monthly Stamping Kit, Today!

My Paper Pumpkin Flyer

Today is March 10th and today is the day you want to sign up for Paper Pumpkin IF you want your first kit to be mailed to you around March 15th! To sign up for Paper Pumpkin, go here to the sign-up page. Now, today is NOT the final day to sign up for the Stampin' Up! monthly subscription kit Paper Pumpkin….you can sign up ANY day….it's just that the 10th of the month (any month) is the deadline to start receiving the kit in that month, kits to be shipped around the 15th. So if you sign up tomorrow or the next day, March 11 or 12 or 20th, your first kit will ship around April 15th.  Then April 10th will be the deadline by which to get your kit shipped on April 15th. You only need to sign up once, not every month, and you can skip a month or two, or cancel it altogether.

Now, Paper Pumpkin is for you if you love getting a surprise kit in the mail every month, if you want a quick and easy project you can sit down and do in about 30 minutes, if you are a new stamper or crafter, if you don't have a lot of materials yet (or you don't WANT a lot of materials!). If you love elaborate projects, if you love placing your own Stampin' Up! order with everything you want, if you love coming to a class and having the ideas and techniques shown to you in person, this might not be for you…and that's okay.

With your first kit, you will get a project plus a free clear block to use with your next kits. Everyone will get this same kit regardless of what month you join.  You will need to provide your own adhesives in the projects, so if you don't have something suitable, I can order those for you from Stampin' Up!  But to get started, you can use what you have and see if you need something different.  All other materials and instructions are provided in the kit.

There WILL be a Try-It Kit if you ever just want to get that and see what it's like before you subscribe.  But it is NOT available yet….will be soon!  I'll let you know!

I might also add that Paper Pumpkin has it's own ordering system, you will not access it from the usual ordering at my Online Store. The sign up is easy, please choose ME as your demonstrator when it asks, and you'll be asked for a name and password.  If you have any trouble (honestly there have been glitches with the website) let me know and I'll try to help or sign you up myself.

So go right now to the My Paper Pumpkin page (the trick to remember to find the web page is to always type in "My" in front of Paper Pumpkin…or you'll go to the wrong place!).  The link is https://mypaperpumpkin.com/en/
