You may have heard about this brand new embossing folder in the Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog. It is huge! I thought I would give it a try with this summery card, Simply Zinnia Dotted Circles Embossed Card.
This is the Dotted Circles 3D Embossing Folder. If you don’t own it yet, you will be amazed at the size when you compare it to your other embossing folders! I don’t even know why it is so large except maybe for scrapbooking. But the embossed cardstock can be trimmed down to any size you want. Here is a photo comparing the Dotted Circles 3D Embossing Folder to the Layered Florals 3D Embossing Folder.
In the photo, you can see the width of both folders is six inches, but the Dotted Circles Embossing Folder is 2 1/2″ longer.
To make this card, I cut the Daffodil Delight cardstock down to the size I wanted it for the card, 4″ x 5 1/4″, then embossed it with the Dotted Circles EF. I tried to center the cardstock exactly where I wanted it in the folder before running it through the Cut & Emboss Machine. I layered the embossed Daffodil Delight cardstock on a card base of Granny Apple Green Cardstock.
For the focal point of the card, I diecut a piece of Basic White using a large circle in the Everyday Details Dies. I stamped the bouquet of three zinnias from the Simply Zinnia Stamp Set in Memento ink and colored in with Stampin’ Blends markers. I mostly used Daffodil Delight for the flowers and added little areas of Peach Pie. The leaves are colored with Granny Apple Green with a little Lemon Lime Twist added. You can play around with any combination of colors you like. I love coloring with the Stampin’ Blends! This stamped diecut circle was then popped up on Stampin’ Dimensionals.
The greeting is from my new ephemera pack, Saying Something Mix & Match. We haven’t had these before, but there are four sets to choose from. If you get a couple of them at least, you can mix & match and put a couple of them together. I liked this one with all the sayings and sentiments. It’s great for a beginning stamper who doesn’t have a lot of stamps yet for greetings. I popped this sentiment up on Dimensionals. To make the ephemera pieces a little more sturdy a good tip is to add extra dimensionals or even a strip along the edge of the dimensionals. You can also use Adhesive Foam Sheets and cut a piece the size you want. Of course, you can always glue the ephemera down flat with glue. I wanted mine popped up to match the circle.
For embellishment, I tied a double strand of Linen Thread into a bow and adhered with a Mini Glue Dot. I also added three Lemon Lime Twist gems in the Tinsel Gems Four Pack.
If you are interested in purchasing any of these new products, wait until tomorrow if you will have an order of $75 or more and get FREE SHIPPING! One day only, Tuesday, May 21st!
Here is a technique I tried this past weekend that I have seen on the internet for a little while. It’s called the Blackout Technique or maybe Blackout Embossing. No matter the term, it is fun and easy and results in a stunning card. This Layered Florals Blackout Technique Birthday Card is my first attempt and I also made another one in different colors. This Layered Florals 3D Embossing Folder is a perfect one to use for this technique!
To make this style of card start with embossing a piece of Basic White with the Layered Florals Embossing Folder and the Stampin’ Up! Cut & Emboss Machine. The cardstock can be larger than will be used on the card front, it can be trimmed down later. Turn the embossed cardstock over to the “debossed” side, not the usual “pretty” side. You will see the indentations of the flowers. Color on this debossed side of the cardstock. For this card, I used Stampin’ Blends….many colors! You can choose what you like or use just one main color. I was using bright colors, such as Melon Mambo, Peach Pie, Summer Splash, Granny Apple Green, Lemon Lime Twist, Pretty in Pink, and more.
Once you have all the coloring done that you want to do, you will swipe a dark ink pad over the whole piece of embossed cardstock, colored side up. You won’t ruin it!
You can use a Memento ink pad or a Stampin’ Up! ink pad. I used Basic Gray which is dark and looks like black. Don’t swipe the ink pad completely flat on the card but rather hold the edge of the pad at a slight angle as you swipe over the card. You do need a juicy ink pad as this uses a lot of ink! You probably will need to go over it in several swipes to get every area covered in the dark ink. You might use a tissue to hold the cardstock down so you don’t get ink all over your fingers, but it is a messy technique!
Now you can trim down your embossed and inked piece for whatever size you want for the card. My card base is Basic White with a layer of Melon Mambo so my inked piece is trimmed down to 3 3/4″ x 5″. The greeting is stamped with a stamp in the Textured Florals Stamp Set in Melon Mambo ink. It was then diecut with one of the Unbounded Love Dies.
Another way to color is to use Blending Brushes or Sponge Daubers. For this embossed piece, I wanted Peach Pie flowers for the large ones and I used Daffodil Delights for the small flowers. You can use a light touch with the Blending Brush while adding the color. The leaves were colored with Stampin’ Blends.
For this card, I used Blueberry Bushel ink to swipe on the embossed piece. I thought the dark blue would look good with the Peach Pie flowers. It is very dark, almost black. This card is Basic White with a layer of Peach Pie cardstock. I embellished it with the Peach Pie 3/8″ Bordered Ribbon and added a separate bow. The greeting is from the Simply Said Stamp Set stamped in Peach Pie ink on Basic White and then diecut using the Unbounded Love Dies again.
This is what it looked like as I began swiping with the Blueberry Bushel ink, which even at that stage, I thought it looked interesting and pretty! So I suppose you could stop with a few swipes of ink if you liked it that way! But I did cover it completely with ink.
Here is the finished card.
I know you will want to try this technique! If you don’t have this exact embossing folder, see what you do have or just try any one you have and see what you can do with it! If you don’t have large images like these flowers, maybe using Blending Brushes or Sponge Daubers to apply the color. Remember to do it on the debossed side of the embossed cardstock.
It’s fun and easy and a surprise to see how the card will turn out!

With all the excitement over the contents of the new Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog, don’t forget about the choices in the Online Exclusives! This designer paper alone is so fun to work with, not to mention the whole A Little Latte Suite if you want it all!
The card base is Early Espresso but you can choose from other colors as well. I used two different patterns of the A Little Latte Designer Series Paper for the background layer. The piece on the left can be any width you like, probably about 1 1/2″ – 1 3/4″ and the plaid pattern can be the full 4″ width of just extend under the blue stripe a little bit. Before adhering the designer paper layer to the card, wrap around the ends of the Natural 3/8″ Polka Dot Trim Ribbon to the back at the top and bottom. Then tie on a short piece just for a knot, rather than a bow, since the ribbon is a little stiff and thick.
Two coffee or latte cups are just fussy-cut out of the designer paper. If you have Paper Snips or similar small scissors, it’s easy! You can adhere them flat or pop them up on Stampin’ Dimensionals.
The greeting is from the Latte Love Stamp Set. It is stamped on a piece of Basic White in Pecan Pie ink, then die cut with a rectangle from the Everyday Details Dies. Since the rectangle has holes around the border, I cut a piece the same size (just a smidge smaller) of Calypso Coral cardstock to show through the holes!
For a little embellishment, I added three Adhesive-Backed Swirl Dots. They are also included in the A Little Latte Suite along with the ribbon, paper, stamps, and dies. As I write this, the A Little Latte Designer Series Paper is sold out but is expected back in stock the week of June 3rd. That makes the Suite unavailable but you can order the rest of the products separately. These are all in the Online Exclusives category rather than pictured in the catalog. Here is another card made in almost a similar way.

This Unbounded Beauty Thinking of You Card is an easy basic design that you can copy easily for almost any kind of card. I wanted to make a simple card and I wanted to use this white ribbon. When I cleaned up my basket of ribbons, dividing up the retired ribbon and the current ribbon, I hated to put all the retired ribbon away. But this white ribbon isn’t retired! You can find it in the Clearance section!
I started with a card base of Petunia Pop, one of the new In Colors, and I was even thinking of adding a Basic White layer underneath the designer paper. But then I decided to try Berry Burst cardstock for the card base which I liked a little better. The layer of designer paper is the Unbounded Beauty Designer Series Paper, a new pack of 12″ x 12″ paper in the Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog. These papers, in my opinion, are prettier in person than in the catalog! I used a full layer of the designer paper, 5 1/4″ x 4″. If you wanted to, you could make the bottom half of the card with the other side or another pattern of the paper.
Before I adhered the designer paper, I adhered the ends of this White 3/4″ Frayed Ribbon to the backside of the designer paper before adhering the paper to the card base. I tied the bow separately and adhered it to the card with several Mini Glue Dots.
The greeting is stamped in Berry Burst ink in the Simply Said Stamp Set. This is a great stamp set for greetings. I used a die in the Unbounded Love Dies to cut out the sentiment and then I chose one of the larger dies for a background layer for the greeting. I popped this up on Stampin’ Dimensionals and added a couple of 2024-2026 In Color Shimmer Gems to each end of the diecut.
You can make this card design with any designer paper or stamped background. Add some ribbon for embellishment and a greeting and you have a nice card!
Although I started out planning to make a different card with some extra diecut flowers I had lying on the table, I changed my mind and decided I wanted to color with the new Stampin’ Blends in the In Colors. And something pretty to color would be the floral stamp in this Layers of Beauty Celebrate Card. This would make a pretty Mother’s Day card (Sunday!) or a card for almost any occasion. It’s great to use the one big die to cut out the flowers!
This card starts with a card base of Summer Splash Cardstock. (I sure wish they wouldn’t have picked two colors so close together in tone that I can’t tell them apart!) I added a layer of Basic White to set off the designer paper I picked for the top layer. This is in the Unbounded Beauty Designer Series Paper and is the paper that is a wash of Pretty in Pink, white, and Peach Pie. It makes a fairly solid background but with just a subtle “wash” of colors.
The big grouping of flowers is in the Layers of Beauty Stamp Set. As I mentioned, the Layers of Beauty Dies are great to have to cut out this large floral piece. If you purchase the Bundle, you will save 10%…PLUS this Bundle includes the Decorative Masks! You will find the Bundle on page 57 of the new Annual Catalog. The Bundle price is listed in the bottom pink border around the samples at the top of the page. (This new catalog is a bit of a scavenger hunt!). The Layers of Beauty Bundle (163519) is priced at $56.50 instead of the full price for all three products at $63.00.
The flowers are stamped with Memento Ink and then colored in with some new In Color Stampin’ Blends. I used Pretty in Pink Light on the roses plus a few daisies and added a few scribbles of Peach Pie as well to the roses. Then I even added a little more of the Dark Pretty in Pink on the roses. The purple daisies are Petunia Pop and the leaves are Shy Shamrock, both Dark and Light. I colored in the whole piece, then diecut and figured out which way the flowers would fit on the card. I just glued it flat but you could pop it up on Stampin’ Dimensionals.
The greeting is in the Simply Said Stamp Set. The stamp says “Let’s Celebrate” but I inked up only the Celebrate word with Pretty in Pink. After I had it cut to the length I wanted the greeting to be, I inked up the edges just a little bit by placing each edge on the ink pad to pick up a little ink. This helps it to stand out a little bit on the card. I popped this up with two Stampin’ Dimensionals.
For some optional bling, I added three Iridescent Foil Gems on the card. Change the greeting to whichever one you like for your recipient or occasion. With a little coloring, this is an easy card for anyone to make!
Make this card, the Textured Floral Mother’s Day Card, for someone special to you on Mother’s Day or add a greeting for whatever occasion you need. You can do some stamping and some diecutting and then you can design your card!
I tried to make this card with mainly the new In Colors 2024-2026. I chose Pretty in Pink for the card base with a Basic White cardstock for the layer. I stamped quite a few flowers and leaves from the Textured Floral Stamp Set and then diecut them with the Textured Floral Dies. I wanted to have plenty to choose from when I put the card together.
The large flower is stamped in Pretty in Pink ink, and the smaller flowers in Petunia Pop ink and Peach Pie ink. The leaves are stamped in Shy Shamrock ink. The diecut foliage at the top is cut from Summer Splash Cardstock, just to get that color in!
The greeting is stamped in Pretty in Pink Ink and is in the Layers of Beauty Stamp Set. I didn’t leave much space for a greeting on this card so I had to choose something rather small. Even if you don’t have a “Happy Mother’s Day” greeting, you can use other ones that would still be fitting for your mother, grandmother, aunt, or whoever you are sending a card to. In this case, this “Grateful For You” greeting, appropriate for a mother, was still just a tiny bit too big even after I cut all around it. So I just cut off the “for you” and made it work! Maybe you will plan better than I did, or start with your greeting and fit the flowers around the greeting.
I loved using the new In Color 2024-2026 Shimmer Gems on this card! They are so pretty in color and have that faceted top. I used the Pretty in Pink, the Peach Pie, and the Shy Shamrock colors of gems.
You can use a different floral stamp set and dies to make a card similar to this one. Use what you have because you probably have something, maybe even this former Textured Floral Bundle. In the new catalog, the stamp sets that are returning from previous catalogs appear in the new catalog in the “Encore” section, starting on page 74 and going through page 80.
Mother’s Day is Sunday, May 12 so get your card(s) made and I hope you receive some cards, too!
The new Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog went LIVE last week on May 1st! I hope you have had time to page through the new catalog many times, whether online or with your own hard copy! This layout and design is quite different from what we are used to so some things are rather “random” but there are good things too! Maybe it will do our brains good to be challenged with something new and different and having our favorite things inside! Let me know what you think or if you have any questions!
You can click the catalog photo above to view the digital copy. If you have any trouble with finding things in the catalog, I suggest you go to the Stampin’ Up! Online Store and Search or page through to find what you want. Or ask me!
Here are some Stampin’ Up! videos you can enjoy watching to learn about some of the new products! Enjoy!
I dare you to watch this video, learning how the artists created this Suite, seeing the products, and not order it!! It went on my list after watching the video!!
This is the Suite that I preordered and have enjoyed the beautiful Unbounded Beauty Designer Series Paper! Actually, this Suite has two Bundles in it (I think I only ordered one…so far).
I love seeing the project samples in this short video using ribbons, and I will tell you that the new In Colors ribbons are very nice!
Did you know we have some Reversible Stamps?
I hope you are getting acquainted with the new Stampin’ Up! Catalog and enjoying seeing the new products! After I see samples in the catalog or that others have made, I get even more excited about the new products!

This Simply Zinnia Home Decor Container is an idea you can use to decorate any container you may have laying around your house. Use the Simply Zinnia Dies and Flowering Zinnias Designer Series Paper for something bright and eye-catching!
This originally was some random container I bought maybe at Home Goods or one of those stores. I got the idea from Patty Bennett back in 2019! (Was it that long ago??!) She had also decorated some of these containers for Thanksgiving but the Christmas one with the Let It Snow Specialty Designer Paper was an idea I couldn’t pass up! I think I was lucky enough to find a couple of these containers and I decorated them for gifts. I probably put candy in the basket, maybe some other gifty things.
One that I decorated with that cute snowman paper I gave to one of my doctors and she set it on her counter. I don’t remember if she left it out forever or just since businesses started offering a separate container for used pens. Anyway, the snowman paper on hers was looking a little ragged. Finally, one day it dawned on me to take it home and redo it for a new season!
The bright colors of the Flowering Zinnias Designer Series Paper probably gave me the inspiration to make something really bright and cheery. I chose the trellis-look pattern in the package for the background, after trying out a couple of other choices. For the flowers, I die cut three zinnias and leaves using the Simply Zinnia Dies. I tried to make each one look different. I cut out two layers for each flower and then the center pieces. You could pop these up with Stampin’ Dimensionals or adhere them flat.
On each side of the container, I added one die-cut flower. I used cardstock for the background and stamped it with the little texture stamp in the Simply Zinnia Stamp Set. I didn’t take a photo but I think on the back side I used one of the patterns of designer paper, maybe the one with the white space in between the flowers on each half of the paper. You could even add paper inside the container if you wanted to.
If you make something like this, with angled sides, I found it easiest to either make a template or just go right to the paper and place the container on the paper and use a pencil to trace around it. You could even cut it out a little larger and then trim it along the edges after you adhere it to make sure you could the whole area properly. You could use Tear & Tape or the Multipurpose Liquid Glue.
You likely won’t find these exact same containers anymore, but this is just to give you an idea with what you could make with what you have or find out shopping! It’s fun to make different things like this with all our supplies for a nice gift. Remember, presentation is everything!
The Stampin’ Up! Kits Collection makes it easy for anyone to enjoy crafting and cardmaking! Stampin’ Up! offers both card and craft kits which contain all the supplies you need to make the projects. If you are enjoying the new Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog, here is a Double Z-Fold Unbounded Beauty Card made with some of the new paper, stamps, and gems in the catalog that you can now order! No matter how pretty you think this designer paper looks in the Stampin’ Up! Catalog, I guarantee you it is even more beautiful in person! And this Double Z-Fold card is very easy to make!
This card base is Pretty in Pink, one of the new In Colors 2024-2026 in the catalog. This card base is cut at 4 1/4″ x 11″, then scored at 2 3/4″ and 5 1/2″. If you have ever made a basic Z-Fold card, it is the same. Crease and fold the score lines so it looks like you have folded the front panel in half back on itself.
The other cardstock color I used is the new Summer Splash, another new In Color. This piece, the top Z-Fold piece, is cut at 3″ x 9″ and scored at 3″ and 6″. Crease and fold the score lines and see how it will fit on the Pretty in Pink base. Don’t adhere anything yet!
I chose the Unbounded Beauty Designer Series Paper in the new catalog for this card. You can make your own choice about colored cardstock and designer paper patterns, but you can see what I chose. I also used Basic White cardstock as a couple of layers to add the sentiments.
The layers for the Pretty in Pink card base are cut at 4″ x 2 1/2″ (two of these) and one at 5 1/4″ x 4″. The smaller layers for the Summer Splash cardstock are cut at 2 3/4″ x 2 3/4″. The first square on the Summer Splash is Basic White, but I cut out some flowers from the designer paper and adhered it to the corner of the Basic White cardstock to decorate it. The middle square is the same pattern. The third square is also Basic White with another little flower cut out of the designer paper in the bottom corner. After stamping any greetings on the Basic White pieces you can adhere all the layers but don’t adhere them to the card yet.
To assemble the card, first center the Summer Splash first square at the fold of the Pretty in Pink. Be sure to not put adhesive on the entire back, just on the left side that is going to adhere to the Pretty in Pink. Then fold up the Summer Splash strip, put the card face down on the table, and put adhesive on the back of the third square. Don’t try to adhere it to the back panel of the Pretty in Pink on your own. Now just fold the back of the card over onto the Summer Splash piece. This way the Summer Splash third square will adhere in just the right place to the inside back panel. It sounds confusing but it isn’t. Try it first before you use glue!
This is what the card should look like from the top.
The sentiments are in the Unbounded Love Stamp Set. I stamped these with Summer Splash ink. My new ink pad seemed to stamp a little heavy with the ink so I took a paper towel folded up and lightly dabbed on the ink pad just to get off some extra ink. Then I thought the stamped image looked better.
I also added some 2024-2026 In Color Shimmer Gems to the front panel of the card. These come in all five In Colors, in two different sizes. They are very pretty! This may seem like a lot of directions, but once you cut the two cardstock strips and score them, then you just have the difficult decision of which pretty designer paper to use!
Here is my photo of the Unbounded Love Designer Series Paper.
Happy May Day! Maybe we all need to get together and sit around a Maypole reading our new catalogs to celebrate!
