Better late than never! I finally sat down to do my April 2015 Paper Pumpkin Kit – before my May Kit arrives. Not that it matters WHEN you do your kit, just that you enjoy it!
First off, I was excited to see that the little pocket folders already had adhesive tape applied! The first one I folded wrong, with those flaps showing on the outside on the back – not that it matters, but then I figured out that they probably go on the inside and I just needed to fold them to the inside first. I made a few bows and attacked the belly bands. Glad Stampin’ Up! is supplying some glue dots and dimensionals to use! Everything is right there! Well, I did need scissors to cut the baker’s twine to tie through the little hole at the top!
Then I started stamping my little white cards – great choices in stamps to choose from! I sloppily stamped a few, set an inked stamp down on the colored card, smudged one white card front and back, and dropped my iPhone in the ink pad! Otherwise, it all was great! It’s always a good idea to clean your photopolymer stamps first, ink them up and stamp several times on scrap paper, just to get them kind of conditioned in case there is any residue on them from manufacturing. If you don’t get a good impression you might be able to use a Stampin’ Write Marker or a Blender Pen and ink to lightly fill in the less than perfect portions.
There are some great alternate ideas for making this kit. I needed “Thank You” cards so I made those. I’ll have to see what materials I have left and see what else I can make. Stampin’ Up! is pretty generous with supplies in these kits and sometimes you can even use the scraps for making projects!
Go to my Stamping With Karen Facebook page and watch how quick it is to assemble one of these cards! 🙂 Click the “LIKE” button while you are over there!

After being on vacation when my March Paper Pumpkin Kit arrived and then preparing for a tax audit, I am finally getting some time to play with my Paper Pumpkin Kit! This is a very versatile kit. Make the cards exactly as designed or double your options by cutting the card bases in half and using them as layers on your own Stampin’ Up! card stock! Add some embellishments, like ribbon, to tie around the card. Make invitations, birthday cards, thank you cards, any occasion cards. Probably many other ideas.
But I have to say, this kit was weird! After making a card, it unmade itself and put everything back in the box!!! How could that happen???!!! Watch the video to see for yourself!!
During Stampin’ Up! Sale-A-Bration you can buy products from the Annual Catalog or the Occasions Catalog or get a pre-paid Paper Pumpkin subscription! For every $50 that you spend, you can choose a FREE Sale-A-Bration product – and, guess what? The 3-month Prepaid Paper Pumpkin Subscription is on sale $5 off and earns you a Sale-A-Bration item! Just add the 3-month Paper Pumpkin subscription to your order #137859. (Shipping is already included in the Paper Pumpkin kit, and while the SAB item is free, you will be charged minimum shipping if that is all you order – so I suggest adding some other stamping supplies or kits to your order.)
After you place your order, you will receive an email from Stampin’ Up! telling you how to get your Paper Pumpkin subscription set up. If you ordered one as a gift for someone, you just pass along that information to them. When the three months are up, you can order another prepaid subscription or put in your account information so you will be set up to receive the kits on a monthly basis.

It may be cold, dark and rainy outside today, but inside it’s fun and happy making the cards in the December Paper Pumpkin Kit! The colors are cheery and the cards just brighten up the afternoon! All this star confetti plus turquoise-colored sequins make a shaker card using a window sheet adhered in a frame using long dimensionals provided in the kit so the confetti has room to move around inside. You get to make 3 Thank You cards, 3 Happy Birthday cards , and 3 Hello cards! What a helpful and happy kit to have to start off the New Year! All supplies are included, even the toothpick!! In other kits you may need to provide your own adhesive.
Paper Pumpkin is the papercrafting kit from Stampin’ Up! that shows up in your mailbox once a month with a surprise project inside. While it is past time to receive this particular kit, there is a new one every month and all you have to do is sign up. Once you are a Paper Pumpkin subscriber, you do have access to any past kits that you missed based on availability. Paper Pumpkin has gotten better and better over time, especially during the past year — better projects, more materials, in my opinion. It’s really fun to open that box each month and be surprised by what is inside. In the December kit, there was an extra free gift enclosed, a paper piercing pack with three templates! One of those things that just adds a little extra to a project!
If you order by the 10th of any month, you will receive the kit that goes out around the 15th of the month. You can even pause your subscription if you want to skip a month.
You’ll find Paper Pumpkin in my Stampin’ Up! Online Store under “Kits”. There you can choose whatever length subscription you want. You can even make it a gift for someone. Who wouldn’t want a red Paper Pumpkin Kit showing up in their mailbox during these cold, dark days of winter?!
Do it for your sanity! Do it to perk up your post-holiday blahs! Do it for your own “craft therapy” to relax and reenergize! Creativity is good for you!
