Citrus Blooms Best Kind of Person Card

Citrus Blooms Best Kind of Person Card

This Citrus Blooms Best Kind of Person Card is my first card using the Mediterranean Blooms Suite that I got recently. You’ll find it in the new Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog on pages 34-35. The designer paper in the Suite is what sold me, but the whole collection of products is beautiful. If you like these citrus images and tile designs, you will love this group of products!

Luckily, a Bundle Sale is coming Wednesday, June 5th, saving you an extra 10% over the Bundle price of 10% off normally for the stamp set and dies together. If you would like to purchase the Citrus Blooms Bundle June 5-30 is the time to get it! And if you don’t already own the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine or the Mini Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine, these will be on sale 10% off also! Check out all the Bundles and make your shopping list!

To make this card, I started with an idea from a sample in the Annual Catalog. I did change the background paper and the greeting. When you start off with a brand new stamp set or Suite it’s often easier to copy an idea in the catalog. You’ll often start coming up with your own ideas for making it a little different as you copy the sample. That’s what the samples are there for in the catalog, to give us ideas of how to use the stamp sets!

The card base is Night of Navy. The Mediterranean Blooms Designer Series Paper has beautiful designs of fruits and tile designs. I chose a different tile design paper than the sample in the catalog and diecut it with the large outline die in the Citrus Blooms Dies. The oranges are stamped from the Citrus Blooms Stamp Set on Basic White Cardstock and then colored in with Stampin’ Blends Markers. You can use whatever colors and combinations of colors you like. You can combine two different colors, not just Light and Dark of one color. Just play and enjoy! After coloring, I diecut the oranges with the matching die. After adhering the designer paper to the card base, I adhered the oranges and leaves to the card using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

The greeting is in the stamp set. I stamped it in Night of Navy Ink on Basic White, then diecut with the smallest rectangle die in the Nested Essentials Dies. Since I didn’t have much room on the card, I didn’t want to add a layer under the greeting, so I just used a Night of Navy Stampin’ Blend marker and ran it around the edge of the diecut greeting. I adhered a piece of Peach Pie 3/8″ Bordered Ribbon under the greeting. I ran some Stampin’ Seal Adhesive on the back of the ribbon. Then I popped up the greeting with Stampin’ Dimensionals over the ribbon. For a finishing touch (and because I just wanted to use them!) I added three of the Opal Rounds in Night of Navy. These come in three colors, Night of Navy, Daffodil Delight, and Clear in two different sizes.

On the inside of the card, since the Night of Navy cardstock is dark, I added a layer of Basic White Cardstock for stamping or writing a greeting or message and adhered a narrow strip of the same tile design I used on the front of the card at the bottom of the card insert. That really adds something when you stamp something or add some designer paper to the inside of the card!

I think anybody will be able to make beautiful and striking cards using even just the Mediterranean Blooms Designer Series Paper and even more using the Citrus Blooms Bundle. Remember, the Bundle will go on sale June 5th for the whole month of June!

Checking Out New Stampin’ Up! Products

Testing Markers

It’s so much fun receiving an order of new Stampin’ Up! products! As a Demonstrator, I got to preorder certain products from the new Stampin’ Up! catalog this month. One of the products I got were all the Stampin’ Blends Markers in the new In Colors. They are not all pictured in the photo above, but I did get all five new In Colors.

Here’s a tip when you get new Stampin’ Up! products! Check them over! After receiving the Stampin’ Blends alcohol markers, I sat down with a scrap of Basic White cardstock and tried out each color, brush end and tip end. You want to do this to make sure you don’t have a defective marker that maybe is dried out. I have rarely had this happen, but you know, stuff happens sometimes. I think sometimes there is a batch of a certain product that isn’t perfect. I just try out each marker, just scribbled a little test scribble. I suggest coloring on Basic White so you can see the true color of the marker. I have done it just on my grid paper but it’s not the same. You might find out if the markers all work properly, but scribbling on white cardstock lets you see the color. And that’s something you want to know with a new marker color!

Naturally, I forgot to order a few things on my first preorder so I had to place another order, like for the new Basic Beige cardstock and ink pad, plus the retiring Stampin’ Write Core Colors markers. These markers came out last year when we had the big color refresh to fill in the colors we already had. When I saw that these markers were on a good discount at 50% off I thought it was a great deal to get them!

As I said about the Stampin’ Blends markers, I sat down with a scrap of Basic White cardstock to test out all the Stampin’ Write Markers and make sure they were all working fine. They were! What I didn’t think about at first is that these are the new design of Stampin’ Write Markers! I realized they felt thinner than the markers I had plus the tip end had a new design! I really liked the new tip end! How do we get so excited about such things?! That’s why we are papercrafters I guess!

These Stampin’ Write Core Color Markers are 50% off!! So if you need to fill in these colors, or even most of them, it’s time to order them before they disappear. Actually, I thought they were sold out but more must have come in! The colors are Azure Afternoon, Berry Burst, Blueberry Bushel, Bubble Bath, Fresh Freesia, Lemon Lime Twist, Lemon Lolly, Lost Lagoon, Misty Moonlight, Pecan Pie, and Pretty Peacock.

And while we are talking about Stampin’ Up! colors, here are cardstock colors I stocked up on that I needed before prices go up. But when I held the packages together, I just thought “How pretty all these colors are!” So I had to take a photo to show you! One of the best things about Stampin’ Up! is how pretty their colors are and how the products all coordinate. You won’t get a red ink that doesn’t quite match the paper.

Last Chance April 2024 Banner Info

The Stampin’ Up! 2023-2024 Annual Catalog and the January – April 2024 Mini Catalog (Spring Mini) will soon be retiring.  Some products will carry over to the new Annual Catalog, which I always like so I get to use some stamp sets some more.

Starting TODAY, April 9th you will be able to get discounts on select products. There are only a few in the Spring Mini and lots more in the Annual Catalog List.  Keep in mind that ALL Bundles will be retired, but that doesn’t necessarily mean the components of that Bundle won’t still be carried.  They just break up the old Bundles and make Bundles of new products.  So a Bundle might be retiring, but maybe you can still buy the stamp set or dies or punch or whatever in the new catalog separately.  You will just miss out on the 10% discount on a Bundle if you don’t buy one you want before the new catalog goes into effect.

  • All products are available while supplies last, and there are no purchase limits.
  • Discounted items can be added to a Starter Kit and redeemed as a 50% off item or with Stampin’ Rewards.
  • Only orders opened and closed during the promotion period apply.
  • Stamp sets are not guaranteed during this promotion and are while supplies last.

Flight and Airy You’re Marvelous Card

Flight and Airy You're Marvelous Card

This Flight & Airy You’re Marvelous Card is made with brand new designer paper, and you can earn it for FREE with a $50 purchase during Sale-A-Bration. This Flight & Airy Designer Series Paper is wonderful! It has watercolored birds, foliage, flowers, and washes. These papers will make beautiful cards and projects for spring!

This card has a Basic White card base but instead of leaving a white margin around the layers, I covered the entire card front with designer paper. I started by choosing the sheet of paper with a vertical line of branches and birds. Although you might waste a bit of paper, it was like cutting out the Christmas design with the bears so that you could make a little scene on your card. I chose a section of birds that I liked and cut the strip of paper to include that area. From that full length of paper, I cut the section that I wanted to be on the front of the card. After I worked on the card, I trimmed that piece of designer paper to be just a little bit narrower. It ended up being 3″ x 5 1/2″.

The “other side” of that same paper was a Pecan Pie brown with crisscrossed lines. I liked it and wanted to use it with the birds section. As I played with making the front of the card, I wanted to add another color to brighten up the card a little bit, to bring out the colors of the birds. I chose Daffodil Delight to be just a narrow strip along the side of the designer paper.

I didn’t want to waste a lot of the designer paper, so I cut the brown pattern into two pieces at 3/4″ x 5 1/2″. I adhered those two strips to each side of the card, exactly on the edges, top and bottom. The Daffodil Delight strips, which are 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ were adhered to the sides of the bird paper with just 1/4″ showing. It helps to use Grid Paper to get everything even and straight. Then I adhered that whole section to the front of the card, making sure I had it even top and bottom and with equal amounts of the brown pattern showing on each side.

The greeting is stamped in Pecan Pie ink on Basic White. I diecut it with a Tailor Made Tag Die, but I found it too large for this card. I didn’t want to cover up any of the pretty birds. I ended up trimming that sentiment as narrow as I could, then flagging one end. Then I layered it on a piece of Pecan Pie cardstock and trimmed that as narrow as I could for a layer. Luckily, it fit exactly right on the card without hiding any birds!

You know if I have a new package of embellishments, I must use them! The colors aren’t all perfect matches, but close enough for matching shades of watercolors. I used the Rainbow Adhesive-Backed Dots. These are in the new Spring Mini Catalog on page 33.

Overall this is a pretty basic, easy card for you to make and fantastic when you can get free designer series paper! Plan your orders in January and February in $50 increments so you can take advantage of Sale-A-Bration!
