Whimsy & Wonder Traditional Christmas Card

Whimsy & Wonder Traditional Christmas Card

The Whimsy & Wonder Suite in the Stampin’ Up! Holiday Catalog uses soft pastel colors in it, but for this Whimsy & Wonder Traditional Christmas Card, I decided to just use the traditional Christmas colors of red and green!

The card base is Garden Green with a layer of Real Red Cardstock. Real Red has been my favorite color forever! If you buy a red somewhere else, like the big box craft store, you will find that their red does not compare to the perfect red of the Stampin’ Up! Real Red! I know because I bought a big package of red cardstock and envelopes when I first started stamping. When I saw how it compared to the Stampin’ Up! Real Red, I threw out the store-bought red paper!

The stamped layer is Shimmery White, my other favorite paper! It has just the slightest glimmer to it and works well with any medium, even some watercoloring. I stamped the tree from the Whimiscal Trees Stamp Set in Garden Green Ink. Old Olive would also look good. Then I overstamped it with the dots to look like little red ornaments or lights on the Christmas tree. I couldn’t resist stamping the holly and berries up in each corner of the card. I just stamped them in Garden Green and then went back in with a Blender Pen and added green ink to the leaves and red ink to the berries. Just very lightly and carefully because I didn’t want the initial stamping to smear.

The greeting is stamped from the Banner Year Stamp Set. It is stamped on Shimmery White and layered on a strip of Real Red, punched at each end with the Lovely Labels Pick a Punch. The greeting itself is popped up on Dimensionals but the Real Red punched piece is adhered directly on the card front. For some embellishment, I added the smallest Gilded Gems to each end of the red piece.

Since the tree doesn’t come with a trunk, I didn’t really like it just floating in the air, so I added a bow with the Real Red 3/8″ Sheer Ribbon. I might have preferred a really narrow ribbon but since this one is sheer, I thought it looked light enough to put in between the tree and the greeting. And since my tree needed a star at the top, I looked through my retired punches and found the right size little punch with a star and punched some Gold Foil.

The lesson here is that even though this stamp set, Whimsical Trees is “whimsical” doesn’t mean you can’t make it “traditional” with color and embellishment! Here is another card I made with the same stamped tree and the new Whimsy & Wonder Specialty Designer Series Paper in the less traditional colors. I love this card as is, but if you are looking for the red and green of Christmas, you can certainly use this tree and change up the colors. If you are looking for a more traditional Christmas card or at least a few for certain people, then try this Whimsy & Wonder Traditional Christmas Card with red and green!

Painted Christmas Paper Christmas Cheer Card

Painted Christmas Paper Christmas Cheer Card

This Painted Christmas Paper Christmas Cheer Card uses two different designer papers, at least a tiny bit of one! You can mix and match when you are making cards and projects. Most designer papers seem to have one side that is the “star of the show” and the other side is a more generic, plainer pattern. In this case, I don’t think the paper designs were quite as clear cut, but I would say this green side with evergreen boughs is the less popular side. The other side has pinecones. I was drawn to this side that coordinates with Garden Green and opted to put a red and black plaid reindeer on the card front.

The card base is Garden Green and I added a layer of Basic White underneath the designer paper just to help it stand out a little bit. I think it makes the whole card a little brighter. The designer paper is Painted Christmas in the Holiday Catalog on page 17. That paper design just caught my eye when I saw it in the package! Lots of pretty papers in that set!

The greeting is in the Perfectly Plaid Stamp Set. I stamped it in Real Red Ink and then die cut with one of the Stitched Rectangle Dies. For a little embellishment, I added a bit of Real Red 3/8″ Double-Stitched Satin Ribbon. The greeting is popped up on Stampin’ Dimensionals®.

For some fun, I cut out one of the red and black plaid deer on the Peaceful Prints Designer Series Paper. You will find this pretty holiday paper in the Sale-A-Bration Brochure on page 8. You’ll be happy to know you can earn it FREE with a $50 Stampin’ Up! purchase. This paper even coordinates with the Peaceful Deer Bundle in the Holiday Catalog.

This is a pretty easy card to make for the holidays. If you have the Deer Builder Punch you might be able to punch out some of the deer on the Peaceful Prints Paper if it is going in the right direction. But otherwise, just cut out by hand with the Paper Snips scissors. I like to leave a tiny bit of white margin around the edge. It keeps it from being too narrow and helps it show up a little bit.

Since the card base is a little dark, put a layer of Basic White inside the card. I stamped a “Merry Christmas” greeting in Real Red Ink from the Perfectly Plaid Stamp Set and stamped one of the trees down in the corner. This way you can write a little note and sign your name inside the card without it being on dark paper.

Gingerbread & Peppermint Peppermint Kisses Christmas Card

Gingerbread & Peppermint Peppermint Kisses Christmas Card

I really wanted to use this paper with the peppermint candies on it! This Gingerbread & Peppermint Peppermint Kisses Christmas Card is a very simple, easy-to-make card, and yet it turned out just fine! I’m not sure when I would use that sentiment, but it’s a cute one, especially with this paper!

The card base is Real Red and I have a layer of Basic White underneath the designer paper to help it stand out a bit. However, you wouldn’t have to use the white layer. You can just adhere the designer paper to the card base. I used the Gingerbread & Peppermint 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper. It has lots of fun patterns to use!

For the center of the card, I liked the next larger rectangle in the Scalloped Contours Dies but I didn’t want to cover up too much of the designer paper. So I used this rectangular die. It actually cuts slits on the sides which can either just be decorative or you could run ribbon through them or do something else creative. I chose decorative this time!

I just stamped the greeting in the middle in Real Red Ink. It is in the Frosted Gingerbread Stamp Set. There are also peppermint candy stamps so I stamped some candies on a piece of scrap Basic White and die cut them with the Gingerbread Dies. You can buy both the stamp set and dies together in the Frosted Gingerbread Bundle and save 10%. For a finishing touch, I thought I would apply Wink of Stella on the candies for some sparkle but it smeared the ink on one. I just left it so you can see even Demonstrators and long-time stampers make mistakes! It just looks like someone stuck the candy in their mouth and then decided they didn’t want it and stuck it on the card instead! LOL!

Enjoy playing around with the new Holiday Catalog stamps and other products. Remember, there is also a holiday section in the Annual Catalog, too, with some great products! When you happen upon a design and card you like that you can make in multiples easily, you will be ready to mass-produce your Christmas cards! Or you might like to make all different kinds of cards because there are so many beautiful sets and accessories! That way you don’t have to choose! You can use this same card design as I used on this Gingerbread & Peppermint Peppermint Kisses Christmas Card with other papers and stamps! Just have fun!

Gingerbread & Peppermint Christmas Card

Gingerbread & Peppermint Christmas Card

I wanted to play some more with the festive Gingerbread & Peppermint Paper in the Holiday Catalog and this Gingerbread & Peppermint Christmas Card is what turned out! I also wanted to try out that little decorative strip I put between the two patterns of paper. This is a pretty basic card design using designer papers and a greeting, maybe just fancied up a little bit with some diecuts.

The card base is Real Red Cardstock. I used the Gingerbread & Peppermint 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper. These two patterns are actually on the same sheet, just opposite sides! If the diagonal striped piece looks dirty, it’s just the splattering on the paper. I don’t know why! I die cut that middle strip with the Gingerbread Dies. They are part of the Frosted Gingerbread Bundle, if you want both the stamp set and dies and want to save 10% buying them together! I just used teeny dots of Multipurpose Liquid Glue on that strip.

The greeting is stamped in Real Red Ink on Basic White. The stamp is in the Frosted Gingerbread Stamp Set. It is die-cut with a die in the Ornate Frames Dies as is the Real Red layer. To help it all stand out a little better, I layered the greeting on a larger Basic White Layering Circles Die. And for a little bling, I added three Red Rhinestone Jewels to the greeting.

It will soon be Christmas card time so check out the new Stampin’ Up! July-December 2021 Mini Catalog for all the new stamps, dies, embellishments, and ideas and start thinking about what you would like to make! Maybe you want to make several different designs of cards so you can have fun making different ones! That’s what I like to do! That way you can use different stamp sets and supplies and see what all you can come up with….and not get tired of making a whole bunch of the same card. Whatever you like!

Heartwarming Hugs Christmas Tree Card

Heartwarming Hugs Christmas Tree Card

If you are anxious to get started on Christmas in July but you can’t order the new things yet in the Holiday Catalog, see if you still have some Heartwarming Hugs Designer Series Paper from last year’s catalog and make a card like this Heartwarming Hugs Christmas Tree Card! The paper is coming back in this current Holiday Catalog, going live August 3!

I still had some of this Heartwarming Hugs Designer Series Paper and I really like it. Lots of different plaids and stripes in traditional red, green and white! It’s just cute paper without having any special designs. Great for backgrounds on cards or other projects. Cute for making boxes and gift bags with both the inside and outside matching and looking like the holidays! Check your stash and see if you still have some.

The Pine Tree Punch is still current in the new Annual Catalog so get that out too! You can punch out lots of Christmas trees to your heart’s content!

To make this card, I started with a base of Real Red Cardstock (my favorite color!). I chose this red background paper with white dots to see what I could do with it or if it would work with the punched trees. I started with a vertical card, but when that wasn’t quite coming together, I turned it sideways and that worked, of course!

I went back to one of the first techniques I ever learned in stamping – tearing the cardstock! Hold the paper in front of you and pull down with your right hand as evenly or unevenly as you want. You want that torn edge look with kind of the underneath layer of the cardstock showing. That’s the best I can describe it. You don’t necessarily want a very straight, even, perfect edge. I used Basic White to make a snowy base for the trees.

I punched out several trees with the Pine Tree Punch and just placed them along the “snow”, popping up a few with Stampin’ Dimensionals® and some just adhered flat on the card.

The greeting is from the Perfectly Plaid Stamp Set. This is another product carried over into the new Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog that you may already have. I think it’s been around a couple of years now, which is nice. I stamped it in Real Red Ink and then cut it out with one of the Ornate Frames Dies. It seems to fit perfectly on the card! I love the little stitching around the edge and the shape of the die is already cute.

That’s all there is to this card! I could have added some sparkle to the trees or on the background. Sometimes all I can think of is adding bling to a card, and sometimes I don’t think of it at all – until after I have taken the photo for my blog! Either way, keep it simple or jazz it up, this Heartwarming Hugs Christmas Tree Card is a fun and easy card to make.

Gingerbread & Peppermint Christmas Ornament Card

Gingerbread & Peppermint Christmas Ornament Card

Here is my first Christmas card of the season, the Gingerbread & Peppermint Christmas Ornament Card! It doesn’t seem like it should be time to be thinking about Christmas cards, but the Holiday Catalog will be coming out in August so the fall and holiday craft season is beginning! You can see it already in the craft stores! There is no summer!

One of the sets of products I think a lot of people are going to love in the Holiday Catalog is the Gingerbread & Peppermint Suite. There are a lot of products in this grouping! You can choose stamps, dies, designer paper, ribbon, pillow box dies, Memories & More cards and envelopes, and more! This card doesn’t use all those things!

The card base is Real Red Cardstock with a layer of the Gingerbread & Peppermint 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper. This green design with white lines and red dots is actually the reverse side of the ornaments! I wanted a Real Red background for the ornaments I would die-cut, but I also made a layer underneath of Old Olive to help the Real Red stamp out a little more.

I used the Gingerbread Dies to cut out the ornaments, although you could do it with Paper Snips pretty easily. I popped them up with Stampin’ Dimensionals® and tied a little bow with Linen Thread on top of each ornament. You could use whatever twine or narrow ribbon you have. I might have used silver if I had some handy!

The greeting is one in the Frosted Gingerbread Stamp Set. I stamped the entire greeting a couple of times and tried different dies and ideas, but it was just a little too large for the space I had on my card. I thought about only stamping it on the inside of the card and not having any greeting on the front of the card. In the end, I used my Stampin’ Write Real Red Marker to color just the “Merry Christmas” portion of the stamp and used a small die in the Ornate Frames Dies. It just fit!

Then for a little bling, I tried out the new Subtle Shimmer Sequins on page 37 of the Holiday Catalog (when you get one!). They don’t have holes in the center so the glue doesn’t squish out when you adhere them! They come in two sizes and four colors: Matte Silver, Matte White, Metallic Silver, and Pearl White. I just used three Metallic Silver ones. I think it’s perfect!

Once you make a Christmas card design you like, make several more cards exactly the same….five, ten, whatever number depending on how many you think you will send out. That way you can have fun making cards of several different designs. That’s what I like to do. When you have the design figured out, the supplies out, you might as well make a batch of cards! Do it assembly-line style – cut everything, stamp everything, assemble everything, etc.

The July-December Mini Catalog (delayed a month due to shipping issues) will begin August 3 so get ready! It will also be Sale-A-Bration (yes, a second one this year!!) so as you purchase holiday items, you will earn free product with every $50 purchase! Something to look forward to during this hot summer!

Forever Fern Christmas Card

Forever Fern Christmas Card

This Forever Fern Stamp Set is so beautiful, more beautiful than you can really imagine until you stamp with it, so I wondered if I could make it into a Christmas card. Another stamper online had wondered the same thing and came up with a card that I copied as far as the layers she used.

The card base for this card is Mossy Meadow, one of the coordinating colors for the Heartwarming Hugs Designer Series Paper that I used for one of the layers. I think this paper is so pretty and so Christmas-y but the patterns can also be used as generic patterns on non-holiday cards.

Over Mossy Meadow is a thin layer of Whisper White to help the designer paper stand out. The front layer of the card is layered on Gold Foil to add some pizzazz to this happy Christmas card.

On the front layer, I stamped the larger ferns in Mossy Meadow Ink in the Forever Fern Stamp Set on the card, with the stems being hidden underneath the greeting, otherwise, those large ferns would not fit very well. Then I stamped some smaller ferns in Old Olive Ink and the berries in Real Red Ink and die cut them with the Forever Flourishing Dies. If you are stamping and die-cutting several images, I think it’s a good idea to stamp a couple extras as long as you are stamping, so in case your die slips or doesn’t come out right, maybe you will then have an extra die-cut to use, or you can save the extra one if they all come out fine.

The greeting is stamped in Real Red Ink and die cut with one of the Ornate Frames Dies. It is popped up on three Mini Dimensionals so I could get it placed in the center but so there was space to slip wonder the die-cut ferns and berries under the greeting. Some of those I popped up on regular-size Dimensionals and some I adhered flat on the card. I resisted the urge to use some Real Red Rhinestones for some bling!

The way these Forever Fern Stamps are designed, the images come out rich and beautiful looking. “This is a Distinktive** stamp set; it has a special texture that gives added depth and dimension in a single step, creating photo-realistic images. **Patent pending” When you first use this type of stamp, you may think it didn’t pick up the ink properly, but that is the way it is designed and as you look at it, you will see the texture and the beauty of the stamping.

If you want to make a card like this Forever Fern Christmas Card, you can make it simpler if you just use basic layers and not these multiple ones. Anything you make with this Forever Fern Stamp Set and dies in the Forever Fern Bundle will be a beautiful card!

‘Tis The Season Candy Cane Christmas Card

Tis The Season Candy Cane Christmas Card

If you only had the ‘Tis The Season Designer Paper, I can’t imagine how many different Christmas cards you could make! And there are also generic patterns that you can use long after the holidays.

This was an easy card to design. I picked the candy cane print pattern of the ‘Tis The Season 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper. I also chose the red narrow-striped design for the bottom portion of the card. I adhered those two papers together using my Grid Paper to make sure everything lined up for the correct size. Then I was able to wrap around a piece of the Real Red 3/8″ Double-Stitched Satin Ribbon to cover the seam of the two papers.

The greeting is stamped in Real Red Ink from the Tag Buffet Stamp Set. I love the font and style of this writing in this stamp set! Even though it goes with the Tag Buffet Project Kit, it’s really a stand-alone kit for making any Christmas cards and projects. But I also love the Tag Buffet Kit tags!! You can see the ones I made HERE.

I looked through all my dies and decided on this shape for the greeting. It is in the Tasteful Labels Dies. It is large enough and has an interesting shape plus a stitched edge! For a little bling, I couldn’t resist adding some of the Red Rhinestone Basic Jewels. I’m not sure I like how I placed them. What do you think??

Then on each side of the greeting I tied two small pieces of the red ribbon just in a knot, not a bow. A bow would take up too much area and obscure the greeting.

The card base is Shaded Spruce. Since that is rather dark for the inside of the card, just add a layer of Whisper White. I just stamped a holiday greeting on it, but you can also add a strip of the designer paper along the bottom edge of the inside layer for a little decoration.

Tomorrow, Tuesday, December 8th is the first day of the Stampin’ Up! Giant Year-End Closeout. Perfectly Plaid Pastel Trees Christmas Card

Perfectly Plaid Pastel Trees Christmas CardPerfectly Plaid Pastel Trees Christmas Card

This Perfectly Plaid Pastel Trees Christmas Card came about after seeing some Christmas cards using non-traditional colors, even pastels! I thought I would see what I could do with a pastel color scheme for my card!

The card base is Blushing Bride Cardstock with a layer of Soft Sea Foam Cardstock. I tried putting another layer of Balmy Blue but it looked like too much. I left it at just the pink and green.

The main paper I used is Shimmery White Cardstock. This is my favorite paper ever! It has just the slightest shimmer to it if you look closely. It stamps so well and even takes watercoloring better than regular Whisper White Cardstock. I just love it!

The three trees stamped on the Shimmery White are from the Perfectly Plaid Stamp Set. This stamp set was carried over from last year and I’m glad because it has so many possibilities, not to mention the Pine Tree Punch which coordinates with the trees. I could also have punched out the trees with that punch and made them a little more 3D. The trees are stamped in Blushing Bride Ink, Balmy Blue Ink, and Soft Sea Foam Ink.

The greeting is also stamped in Soft Sea Foam Ink. It is also in the Perfectly Plaid Stamp Set as are some other ones I could have used. I just stamped this on a scrap strip in my Shimmery White Cardstock and then punched the ends with the Lovely Labels Pick a Punch. It is popped up with Stampin’ Dimensionals®.

Then to add a little something extra, I added some Adhesive-Backed Snowflakes. These are little snowflake sequins that have adhesive so they are easy to place and stick on a card! No glue required!

Another thing I could have done, instead of the snowflakes, was to put some Rhinestones or perhaps the Champagne Rhinestone Basic Jewels on the trees. If I would have stamped the trees up just a little bit higher I think that would have worked. Or maybe I could have stamped some small snowflakes. So many different things you can do with stamping!

You could change the color scheme of this card and use traditional red and green colors and see how different it would look. Here is another card I made with this set, in red and green colors, and using all three styles of trees. Or as I mentioned, use the Pine Tree Punch to punch out the trees and pop them up on Dimensionals instead of the greeting. Just play until you are satisfied!

‘Tis The Season Candy Cane Christmas Card

'Tis The Season Candy Cane Christmas Card

It’s time to get busy on Christmas cards and this ‘Tis The Season Candy Cane Christmas Card is an easy one! Mainly I wanted to just play with the ‘Tis the Season Designer Paper as I did the other day and see what else I could come up with.

In this case, I assumed I would use only this pattern of paper on half the card, but I cut the full size for the layer and I wanted to use it just like that! So simple! The card base is Real Red. I thought Cherry Cobbler looked a little dark, but it is a coordinating color with these papers.

I stamped the greeting in Real Red Ink from the Tag Buffet Stamp Set. I wasn’t sure how I wanted to cut it out, so I just browsed through my sets of dies and settled on this one in the Stitched So Sweetly Dies. I wanted a layer but instead of a die-cut I took the easy way out and just measured a plain rectangle to layer behind it. Sometimes you just don’t have the right size die!

For a final touch, I added a Real Red 3/8″ Double-Stitched Satin Ribbon, tied in a bow. I adhered it with a couple of Glue Dots. That’s all there was to it!

On the inside of the card, I added a layer of Whisper White stamped with a greeting from the Itty Bitty Christmas Stamp Set. All of the “Itty Bitty” stamp sets are great ones to have because you can always find a greeting stamp in one of them!

If you need any supplies for making Christmas cards, there is still time, but I suggest ordering as soon as possible, certainly by December 8th as recommended by Stampin’ Up!

‘Tis the Season Tri-Panel Christmas Card

Tis the Season Tri Panel Christmas Card

For this card, the Tis the Season Tri Panel Christmas Card, I got the idea to copy myself! One of my fall cards was this same basic design and turned out pretty well. This is a great design for using up scraps of designer paper if you have them, or you can even stamp different panels for a card like this.

I used the ‘Tis the Season 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper for this card. It’s a great assortment of Christmas papers with generic and traditional designs. The 6″ x 6″ size is nice for making cards so you don’t have to work with the large designer paper.

The card base is Real Red, although Cherry Cobbler is also a coordinating color with the DSP. The Gold Foil is cut at 5″ x 3 3/4″ underneath the panels. Each panel of DSP is cut at 1 1/2″ x 3 1/2″. You can vary that size depending on if you make the foil layer a little larger or if you want the panels to touch on the sides rather than let the gold foil show through in between. Just try to adhere the panels evenly spaced and if necessary, you can trim the foil layer if it is uneven on one side or the other. You could also use another color of cardstock instead of foil if you like.

The greeting is stamped from the Perfectly Plaid Stamp Set in Real Red Ink on Whisper White and die cut with one of the Layering Ovals. Then a scalloped oval die was used for the Gold Foil layer.

The trees were punched with the Pine Tree Punch. I used a green pattern in the ‘Tis The Season Designer Paper. For a little bling, I added some red and green Holiday Rhinestone Jewels. To look a little like a star on top of the tree, I used a gold Gilded Gem at the top of each tree. I popped up the greeting with Stampin’ Dimensionals, but then glued down the trees flat so there would be room for the rhinestones and gems as far as height. Something to think about if you are mailing cards with embellishments. You might also enclose a piece of paper towel or any piece of scrap computer paper, maybe crimped, to cover and give protection to the embellishments. If you have a really fancy card, you should consider mailing it in a special padded envelope.

This is a pretty easy card to make and you can make all kinds with different pieces of paper. I want to try some more with this particular paper and design and see what else I can come up with! Here is my fall card I made with the beautiful Gilded Autumn Designer Paper.

Get out your designer paper for the holidays and even some non-holiday paper because you might find patterns you can use just fine on Christmas cards. It’s time to be making cards and mailing them early! Hope my ‘Tis the Season Tri-Panel Christmas Card gives you some inspiration for making your own cards!

Tis the Season Tri Panel Christmas Card Closeup

Trimming the Town Scene Christmas Card

Trimming the Town Scene Christmas Card

It might kill you to cut into this 12″ x 12″ paper with this snowy mountain scene, but if you do, you can make an easy Christmas card like this Trimming the Town Scene Christmas Card. The whole paper could also be used for a scrapbook page or even a framed piece that you could add some extra pieces to.

For this card, I cut out a top portion of the Trimming the Town Designer Series Paper so I could get the mountains in the scenery. I could have stopped there, really, but I also cut out a house on another piece of designer paper and popped that up on Dimensionals on the front of the card.

Trimming the Town DSP Scene

For a greeting, I cut out the words on another sheet of the Trimming the Town Designer Paper that has Christmas greetings of all sorts in many languages! That’s an easy way to put a greeting on your card!

For the card base, used Misty Moonlight Cardstock with a layer of Poppy Parade. Poppy Parade is the coordinating color with this Trimming The Town Designer Series Paper. I have also used Real Red, though, also. On the inside of the card I would put a layer of Whisper White on which to stamp or write my greeting since the Misty Moonlight is a dark color.

If you want to make some quick and easy Christmas or winter cards and you don’t have any other use for this large paper, you can certainly cut it up and use it for cards. Maybe add some houses or images from other pages to embellish your scene. It’s really fun to play with! Plus I added some Adhesive-backed Snowflake Sequins to the card.

Stampin’ Up! recommends ordering anything you want by Christmas by December 10th. We are already being warned on the news that shipping this holiday season may be delayed so I suggest ordering anything you want for your Christmas card assembly soon!

Here’s another card I made earlier using the Trimming The Town Designer Paper on which I made my own little scene!

If you have this designer paper, see if you can bring yourself to cut into this paper and make some cards like my Trimming the Town Scene Christmas Card.

Pink Poinsettia Petals Happy Holidays Card

Pink Poinsettia Petals Happy Holidays Card

I was really happy with the way this Pink Poinsettia Petals Happy Holidays Card turned out. The colors turned out to look pretty nice together with the Plush Poinsettia Specialty Paper in the background.

The card base is just Whisper White with a layer of the Plush Poinsettia Specialty Paper. This paper is beautiful with the flocked poinsettias on white vellum.

The poinsettia petals are all die-cut with the Poinsettia Dies. I used Petal Pink Cardstock and the die-cut leaves are Pear Pizzazz. Each poinsettia and leaf has two pieces – the outline that cuts it out and a separate inside piece that does the embossing of the veins in the leaves and petals. If you have trouble lining them up, just keep turning the inside piece until it fits in the outline die. You might even want to mark one of the lined up points with a Sharpie on both pieces. Those little green sprigs are also a die in the set. I think they add a lot.

The Petal Pink strip along the side was just in my bag of cardstock! It is from the Peony Dies. I think it is accidentally perfect! It adds a little something along the side of the card without taking away from the poinsettia and doesn’t take up any extra space like a ribbon with a bow would.

The greeting is in the Poinsettia Petals Stamp Set as well as a very nice “Merry Christmas” greeting. I stamped it in Petal Pink Ink on Whisper White and die cut with the Layering Ovals die along with a Petal Pink scalloped oval die for the layer. I think it is small enough to not take away from the poinsettia and fits just fine in the space.

For the poinsettia center, I just added some Gold Glitter Enamel Dots. I adhered three of the smallest ones and one the next size up and that looked perfect. As I was cleaning up, I had a Dot stuck on my finger from the package so I stuck that on the flower center too! I thought about using the Gilded Gems but for this card, I liked the Gold Glitter Dots better and they are better for mailing.

This card is a little fussier to make so I don’t know that I would want to make many multiples of it with all the die-cutting, yet now that I have the card design maybe it wouldn’t be too bad – or too bad for you to copy. Click HERE to see another poinsettia Christmas card I made, this time with the traditional red poinsettia.

This Poinsettia Place Suite of products is all so beautiful it’s worth a little extra effort so try your hand at a card something like this Pink Poinsettia Petals Happy Holidays Card.

Freezin’ Fun Penguin Merry Christmas Card

Freezin' Fun Penguin Merry Christmas Card

You can’t help but be happy when you stamp with the Freezin’ Fun Stamp Set like on this Freezin’ Fun Penguin Merry Christmas Card! It is the cutest stamp set and so much fun to stamp with. Whether you use one or more of the whimsical characters and accessory stamps in the set, you can’t make anything except a “happy” card, as my friend would say.

The card base is Balmy Blue with a layer of the Snowflake Splendor Designer Series Paper. Sometimes it’s not what you plan to use, it’s what piece of paper you spy when you get out your package of designer paper. In this case, I saw this piece with the various purples and wanted to use it on my card. To help the designer paper stand out a bit, I put a layer of Whisper White behind it.

I found the scalloped circle die cut piece already in my package of Balmy Blue so I tried to just use that. I stamped the little penguin on Whisper White and die cut with the Layering Circles Die. Since the penguin looks like he is jumping (or there is a snowboard in the stamp set you can use with him) I decided to stamp a pile of snowballs he is jumping over! Then I also stamped and die cut with the Freezin’ Fun Stamp Set and the Freezin’ Friends Dies. If you want both, get the Freezin’ Fun Bundle and save 10%.

The images are all colored in with Stampin’ Blends alcohol markers, but you can use ink, Watercolor Pencils, or whatever you like. On the die cut circle with the penguin I also stamped some snowflakes in Balmy Blue, stamped off once.

After adhering the scalloped circle with the stamped image to the card front, I adhered one small tree flat on the Whisper White circle but popped up the other two trees with Stampin’ Dimensionals®. I meant to put the image pretty far into the lower right corner of the card, but leave room for aa tree or two, so I think I could have moved it over to the right a little bit more.

The greeting is stamped in Balmy Blue from the Arrange A Wreath Stamp Set and die cut from one of the Ornate Frames Dies. And for a little bling, I added the Blue Adhesive-Backed Gems.

You could make this same card design with any of the characters in the Freezin’ Fun Stamp Set. If you like fun and whimsical Christmas cards, then this is the set for you!

Plaid Tidings Christmas Wreath Card

Plaid Tidings Christmas Wreath

Fresh off making a Thanksgiving card with plaid designer paper, I wondered if I could do one with a wreath and I came up with this Plaid Tidings Christmas Wreath Card.

The card base is Real Red (although I could have used Cherry Cobbler also). Then I chose this red and green plaid pattern in the Plaid Tidings Designer Series Paper. I die cut a wreath with the Wreath Builder Dies. I was going to leave it as is, but I ended up cutting out another partial wreath out of Granny Apple Green for contrast and cut off little sprigs to add on to the main wreath.

I die cut several flowers of different sizes out of Real Red Cardstock with dies in the Wreath Builder Dies. Since the die punches out out a tiny center circle from the flowers, I decided to cut very small pieces of Bumblebee Cardstock to adhere to the back of every flower to give it a yellow center. I wouldn’t have had to since I planned to add a jewel to the center, but I did it. A little tedious, though! After placing and adhering the flowers around the wreath, I added Gold Glimmer Enamel Dots to some of the flowers.

The greeting is stamped in Real Red ink on Whisper White Cardstock from the Banner Year Stamp Set and die cut from the Tasteful Labels Dies. Then this greeting was layered on a Real Red die cut from the Ornate Frames Dies. I also added Gold Glimmer Enamel Dots to each end of that piece.

After I got the wreath adhered to the card front, I added a small bow to the top of the wreath. The ribbon is the All The Trimmings Ribbon Combo Pack. The red color is actually Poppy Parade trimmed in gold but it looks fine on my wreath. The other color in the ribbon combo is Old Olive.

The Arrange A Wreath Bundle is a great one to own and use well past Christmas. You know you can make a wreath for any occasion on any card or project so don’t think it is just for the holidays. Here is a Thanksgiving card I made with the Bundle. Change up the colors for a birthday or whatever occasion you need.

If you start making Christmas cards now, you will be ahead of the game and not so rushed right in the midst of the holidays. It’s already November! So get a head start, maybe make a version of this Plaid Tidings Christmas Wreath Card that is a little bit simpler. But now that you have the design it won’t be so hard to duplicate! Have fun stamping!
