Diorama Excellent Eggs Easter Card

Diorama Excellent Eggs Easter Card

This diorama card is one that I have made for many years. It looks pretty dramatic, right, being a 3D kind of display for a card? Of course, with most projects in stamping, it is pretty easy once you know the basics! The basis of this Diorama Excellent Eggs Easter Card is that you score the ends of two pieces of cardstock that are the same size, cut some kind of hole in the top piece of cardstock, make some kind of scene on the back piece of cardstock that will show through the opening on the front, then crease the score lines and adhere the end sections together. This type of card can be folded flat for mailing so that is not a problem!

This card base is Bubble Bath cardstock. Cut two pieces of cardstock at 5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″. Of course, you can vary your measurements if you want a similar card in a larger or smaller size. Score each end of each piece of cardstock at 1/2″ and 1″. See the photo below for the side score lines and then whatever type of opening you want in the center.

Score those ends first and then you can more easily place the opening on just the top piece of cardstock so that it is centered. Crease and fold those score lines back and forth so that when you hold them together they will make the card into the diorama shape. You can see from the top view on this photo below. Don’t glue them together yet so you can more easily make the scene in the center of the back piece.

Decide if you want another piece of cardstock or designer paper for the background. I chose Boho Blue. Measure your space and see what size you want to cut the background paper. You may have to trim tiny bits off the sides to accommodate the score lines. Mine is 4 1/4″ tall and just a “smidge” less than 3 1/2″ wide.

I stamped three of the Excellent Eggs with Memento ink and colored in with Stampin’ Blends markers. They are easy to cut out by hand if you don’t have the dies, which is what I did. The one farthest back is glued flat to the card, the other two are popped up on Stampin’ Dimensionals.

The front opening for the diorama card is cut out with one of the Scalloped Contours Dies. You can use any shape or size.

The greeting is stamped in Boho Blue ink from the Excellent Eggs Stamp Set and then diecut with one of the banner shapes in the Stylish Shapes Dies. Since that cute little bunny was also in the Excellent Eggs Stamp Set, I stamped, colored, and cut him out also in hopes I could use him somehow. Luckily, he seemed to fit just fine at the end of the banner in the corner of the card!

For some sparkle and to fill in the empty space in the background, I added three Pastel Adhesive-Backed Sequins in gold, Balmy Blue, and Petal Pink. Remember, a lot of these embellishments can be used even if the colors are not exactly the same. My background is Boho Blue but the one sequin I used is Balmy Blue. The recipient is never going to notice or be critical of that! We are often too hard on ourselves trying to make everything perfect when we make a card!

Here’s another Diorama card I made for Easter a few years ago.

This Diorama card will fold flat to mail and fits in a regular size Stampin’ Up! envelope, but you may want to make one and use it for your Easter decor!

Friends of the Forest Easter Diorama Card

Friends of the Forest Easter Diorama Card

I’ve wanted to make this Friends of the Forest Easter Diorama Card ever since I got this stamp set in the Spring Mini Catalog! I could just imagine making a diorama card with some kind of little scene using the stamps in the Friends of the Forest Stamp Set!

This diorama card is actually a regular card size so you can fit it in an envelope. It folds flat! You could even make a middle layer inside a diorama card and make it as fancy and involved as you like, but this style is easy and just fine! All you need are two pieces of cardstock and an opening cut in the front so you can see the scene or decoration inside.

Start with two pieces of cardstock, each 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″. Score at 1/2″ and 1″ from each end on each cardstock piece. Fold and crease the score lines and play with them a little to see how it is going to go together. For this card, I used Soft Sea Foam Cardstock for the front and Basic White for the back.

Here is the diagram I used on a previous card. Since we no longer have the oval dies, I changed this card to cutting the opening with a circle die in the Layering Circles Dies, the largest one. You could use a rectangle or whatever you have that would make a hole large enough for whatever you want to do. The lines show the score lines.

To make the card, I stamped a tree and a bunny on Basic White and cut them out for the front of the card. On the inside, I stamped the tree, fox, flowers and mushrooms directly onto the Basic White and colored them in. But I also stamped two bunnies and a tree stump separately and cut them out by hand to add to the inside scene. Some things are popped up on Stampin’ Dimensionals and some are glued flat on the card.

On the inside, after I had the scene made I decided to color in some grass. I used the Light Sea Foam Stampin’ Blend Marker. For the sky, I used the Light Pool Party Stampin’ Blend. Just scribble lightly, you don’t even have to cover all the white space. I punched out a cloud with the Cloud Punch. It was too big, so I just cut off the side that was too long and popped it up on Dimensionals.

I colored all my pieces with Stampin’ Blends. I didn’t keep track of the colors. It doesn’t matter because you can do your own thing! I did discover after I finished, that the Stampin’ Blends bled through the back of the Basic White background, which I hadn’t thought about so I cut another piece of Basic White to cover that up on the back.

I adhered one cut-out tree and one bunny on the front of the card. The greeting is stamped with the Celebrating You Stamp Set and die cut with a small rectangle in the Stitched So Sweetly Dies. For a little embellishment, I added a cute little Brushed Brass Butterfly on the greeting and a few little Iridescent Rhinestone Basic Jewels.

Here is a view of the card from the top. Just glue the ends together to connect the front and back and make sure everything creases well.

For another idea, here is a card I made two years ago in a similar design.

If you just try this card design, once you cut and score the paper and crease the lines, you will see how the card goes together. It’s really very easy but will make a great impression on whoever you decide to send it to!

Easter Diorama Card With Welcome Easter

Easter Diorama Card With Welcome Easter

It’s been a long time since I have made a diorama card but it was fun to make this Easter Diorama Card With Welcome Easter. Diorama cards can be made in different ways, even fancier than this one. A diorama card is a 3D card with an opening on the front layer that lets you see a scene of any kind on the inside. Sometimes there is even a middle layer. But let’s start with this one!

You just need two pieces of cardstock, each piece 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″. I chose Pool Party for my front piece and Whisper White for the back. On each piece, score 1/2″ and 1″ from each end.

Then you will crease those score lines so that your card front pushes out and the back piece pushes back. You can see which way these score lines go from this top view of the diorama card.

Now you will stamp or decorate that back piece before you assemble the card. But when you are ready to adhere the two pieces of the card together, use something like Tear & Tape Adhesive or Multipurpose Liquid Glue. All you have to do is adhere that end 1/2″ on the front and the back piece together.

For my Easter diorama card, I used the Welcome Easter Stamp Set. I stamped the three little characters, colored them with Stampin’ Blends, and cut them out with my Paper Snips. I also used the Happy Easter greeting stamped in Pool Party from the Welcome Easter Stamp Set.

On the front of the card in the center area, I die cut with a Layering Ovals die. You could use a circle die, punch, square, whatever you like. I played around with the placement of the bunny, chick, and lamb before adhering the two pieces together. You want to make sure that you can see what you want to see well enough.

You want to think about the background. I stamped a few leafy boughs from the Path of Petals Stamp Set. I didn’t want the rest of the background to just be white so I colored in lightly, just with kind of a scribble motion with a Pool Party Stampin’ Blend marker. And I drew in some sprigs of grass at the bottom.

The lamb and the chick are popped up on Stampin’ Dimensionals to give a little dimension inside the card. The bunny is also popped up on a dimensional on the front corner. I still thought the card needed a little something so I used some Iridescent Sequins on the inside and even the outside. Once I added the sequins, I was happy with the card!

Now the amazing part of this card is that you can fold it flat and it is the size of a normal card! It will fit in an envelope and can be mailed!

As I’ve said before, you can use the Welcome Easter Stamp Set to make baby cards with these cute images! You could change the greeting on this Easter card and make it one for a baby, like one that comes in the stamp set.

Here is another example of a diorama card that I made years ago, an oldie but goodie!

Easter is coming soon so try your hand at this Easter Diorama Card With Welcome Easter because it is easy enough to make and will the recipient feel like someone special!
