Simply Zinnia Dotted Circles Embossed Card

Simply Zinnia Dotted Circles Embossed Card

You may have heard about this brand new embossing folder in the Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog. It is huge! I thought I would give it a try with this summery card, Simply Zinnia Dotted Circles Embossed Card.

This is the Dotted Circles 3D Embossing Folder. If you don’t own it yet, you will be amazed at the size when you compare it to your other embossing folders! I don’t even know why it is so large except maybe for scrapbooking. But the embossed cardstock can be trimmed down to any size you want. Here is a photo comparing the Dotted Circles 3D Embossing Folder to the Layered Florals 3D Embossing Folder.

Dotted Circles Embossing Folder Comparison

In the photo, you can see the width of both folders is six inches, but the Dotted Circles Embossing Folder is 2 1/2″ longer.

Dotted Circles Embossing Folder Size

To make this card, I cut the Daffodil Delight cardstock down to the size I wanted it for the card, 4″ x 5 1/4″, then embossed it with the Dotted Circles EF. I tried to center the cardstock exactly where I wanted it in the folder before running it through the Cut & Emboss Machine. I layered the embossed Daffodil Delight cardstock on a card base of Granny Apple Green Cardstock.

For the focal point of the card, I diecut a piece of Basic White using a large circle in the Everyday Details Dies. I stamped the bouquet of three zinnias from the Simply Zinnia Stamp Set in Memento ink and colored in with Stampin’ Blends markers. I mostly used Daffodil Delight for the flowers and added little areas of Peach Pie. The leaves are colored with Granny Apple Green with a little Lemon Lime Twist added. You can play around with any combination of colors you like. I love coloring with the Stampin’ Blends! This stamped diecut circle was then popped up on Stampin’ Dimensionals.

The greeting is from my new ephemera pack, Saying Something Mix & Match. We haven’t had these before, but there are four sets to choose from. If you get a couple of them at least, you can mix & match and put a couple of them together. I liked this one with all the sayings and sentiments. It’s great for a beginning stamper who doesn’t have a lot of stamps yet for greetings. I popped this sentiment up on Dimensionals. To make the ephemera pieces a little more sturdy a good tip is to add extra dimensionals or even a strip along the edge of the dimensionals. You can also use Adhesive Foam Sheets and cut a piece the size you want. Of course, you can always glue the ephemera down flat with glue. I wanted mine popped up to match the circle.

For embellishment, I tied a double strand of Linen Thread into a bow and adhered with a Mini Glue Dot. I also added three Lemon Lime Twist gems in the Tinsel Gems Four Pack.

If you are interested in purchasing any of these new products, wait until tomorrow if you will have an order of $75 or more and get FREE SHIPPING! One day only, Tuesday, May 21st!

What To Buy During Sale-A-Bration!

What should you buy during Sale-A-Bration while you can earn a free product for every $50 you spend? If I didn’t already have one, I would surely purchase the new Stampin’ Up! Cut & Emboss Machine! It has been years ago that Stampin’ Up! came out with the Big Shot, our first die-cutting machine. I don’t know what we did before we had that! And now, we have an even better (and prettier!) machine, this Stampin’ Cut & Emboss!

There are SO many sets of dies and embossing folders, and now even some embossing folders that work as dies. It adds so much more to your cardmaking and projects. Some of the die sets even have extra little pieces that are just fun to use with your creations.

This new machine cuts even easier and better, in my opinion, than the Big Shot. It even has the convenient benefit of folding up the platform to save space during storage (if yours is ever in storage! I use mine almost every day!). The pieces that make up the “sandwich” are numbered so you know which ones to use when, depending on if you are just die-cutting or embossing.

The price for the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine is $120.00. That is why I am suggesting you purchase it now during Sale-A-Bration if you have been considering it! If you add on some dies or embossing folders, to reach $150, you will be able to choose 3 FREE products in the Sale-A-Bration Brochure! Or another choice would be one product at the $100 Level and one more at the $50 Level. This is in addition to Stampin’ Rewards of 10% of your merchandise. That means another $15 or more free merchandise in any current products. This all makes this purchase a LOT more advantageous for you and the price point a lot more tolerable! It’s not a frivolous purchase, but I feel certain you will get a lot of use out of it and really step up your creative options.

Another option, for space considerations, price, or “cuteness”, is the Mini Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine. Why are smaller things so cute?! This small machine has a 3 1/2″ platform and will fit the smaller dies and embossing folders. The price of this machine is $60. Even with this machine, you can earn one FREE Sale-A-Bration product, although you might also want some of the dies and embossing folders to go with it and that might earn you another free Sale-A-Bration product. While I think this Mini Machine is adorable and convenient if you “travel” with your machine, whether on trips or retreats or gathering with friends to stamp, I know you will have a lot more options with the full-size machine. If you have the full-size machine, maybe you want the Mini for portability as I stated.

Sale-A-Bration runs through September 30, 2021 so you have a lot of time. However, if there are particular Sale-A-Bration items you would like to earn, there are some that may not be able to be supplied by the end of Sale-A-Bration and therefore will not be restocked once they run out. So the early bird gets the worm!

NEW-STYLE 3D EMBOSSING FOLDERS NOW AVAILABLE

You may or may not have noticed that Stampin’ Up! had introduced new 3D Embossing Folders from a new supplier, but not all of our previous “Dynamic” embossing folders had been changed over.  But now, these six 3D Embossing Folders, in the new style (a little bit thinner) are available in the Stampin’ Up! Online Store!  More are on the way!
As we talked about before in THIS POST, you may need to use an extra shim, very thin, to make your folders work with your die-cutting machine. Each machine will be different.  To remedy this problem, Stampin’ Up! introduced the new 3D Embossing Folder Plate. I have so far forgotten to order one, but I have heard it works well.
Watch this video with George from Stampin’ Up! for tips on using the new style dies, 3D embossing Folders and 3D embossing folder plate.  And be sure to listen to his advice at the end!!!

These new 3D Embossing Folders are carryover ones from previous catalogs. The brand new designs in the new catalog were already in this 3D format.

If you have any questions, just ask!  If you read the link I posted in this article, you will read about the sandwich that I found that works with my machine, until I remember to order the new 3D Embossing Folder Plate!

Remember, Bonus Days are going on this month of July at Stampin’ Up!  For every $50 you spend, Stampin’ Up! will email you a $5 coupon to use in August!

Daisy Card With the Scripty Embossed Background

Daisy Card With Scripty Embossed Background

Here is a Daisy Card With the Scripty Embossed Background. It is rather simple as is (not that there is anything wrong with simple!) but I was really just making a card to showcase the Scripty 3D Embossing Folder.

As you may have noticed, Stampin’ Up! has come out with some new 3D embossing folders made by a different manufacturer than our previous one. These new 3D Embossing Folders are slightly thinner than our previous ones so you may have trouble running them through your Big Shot or another die-cutting machine.

As I wrote in THIS POST the other day, Stampin’ Up! has come out with a new plate, the 3D Embossing Folder Plate, that will likely make up that thickness difference. It is possible that depending on your machine, you may still need to add an additional shim, such as a thin piece of cardboard. You could use the thin piece that comes in your DSP.

3D Embossing Folder Plate

In the meantime, I found that a sandwich of the Big Shot Platform, the squishy Silicone mat, then the embossing folder with the cardstock inside, and a Cutting Pad on top worked with my new Scripty 3D Embossing Folder.

Here is a photo of the pieces of the sandwich I used.

Big Shot Sandwich

If you need a reminder of which mat this is, watch this video:

Remember, Stampin’ Up! is working on a new die-cutting machine for us. In the meantime, try the things you have, different platforms, different shims if you have trouble with your new 3D Embossing Folders. Don’t ever FORCE your machine. If it doesn’t go, don’t do it! Don’t break your machine! You can experiment, or you can add this new 3D Embossing Folder Plate to your next order and hopefully that will simplify using embossing folders for you!
