Enjoy The Moment Birthday Card

This Enjoy The Moment Birthday Card is made with the Enjoy The Moment Stamp Set that is retiring on Monday, May 2. This is an odd stamp set to me! I would generally say I don’t like this stamp set … yet, when I have made cards with it, I really like the card! Probably a lot of people don’t even know what the images are in the stamp set. They are nuts, seeds, and pods…I guess! Anyway, there is something about this stamp set that is fun even though I don’t care for it!

The card base is Garden Green cardstock. I don’t use this color very much, but I had already chosen this green and white floral pattern of paper in the Hand-Penned Designer Series Paper (now retired) for the background layer. Then I just stamped three of the images from the stamp set, and cut them down 1 1/2″ wide and just long enough. I layered those on the Garden Green cardstock and hoped they would fit okay on the card without doing the math! They did! I just used Garden Green ink to keep it monochromatic and simple.

I adhered the images flat on the card. You could pop them up on Dimensionals if you wanted to. The birthday greeting is in the same stamp set so I stamped that in Garden Green ink also and cut it out with the little banner die in the Tasteful Labels Dies. These dies are retiring on May 2 and are even discounted so you can save about $6 on these dies right now. These have been some of my most-used dies. I hate to see them leave. This greeting I did pop up on Stampin’ Dimensionals.

On the inside of the card, since the cardstock is rather dark if I wanted to write something inside the card, I added a Basic White layer on which I stamped another image in the upper left corner and added a strip of the same designer paper across the bottom. Now the inside carries the same look to the inside and is ready for stamping or writing a personal note or message.

Here’s another card I made with this Enjoy the Moment Stamp Set.

I think this set was used in a virtual Stampin’ Up! event a while back. I know I wouldn’t have just bought it on my own. But as I said, each card I have made I have enjoyed! So, are there really any “bad” Stampin’ Up! stamp sets??!! I even used one of the seed pod (?) images to look like fireworks on THIS CARD last July.

I think Stampin’ Up! should have included these live oak tree pollen things we have here in Texas that have caused so much allergy suffering by those allergic to the pollen. For weeks now, our live oak trees have been shedding this yellow dusty pollen and leaves and now these “catkins” have been falling and are all over yards and sidewalks. Along with the falling leaves from the trees, these catkins, which are male flower parts, are just everywhere. You can leave them and have your yard completely covered or rake them up into bags and hope the yard waste garbage truck comes by. In almost a few minutes, you will have to rake again! There is your science lesson for today!

If you are interested in plants and nature, you might like this Enjoy the Moment Stamp Set (it’s even on sale!) but be sure to order it soon as Monday, May 2 is the last day for this stamp set.

4th of July Fireworks USA Birthday Card

4th of July Fireworks USA Birthday Card

This 4th of July Fireworks USA Birthday Card was made in a rather odd way! The other day I was trying to think what stamp set or dies could be made to look like fireworks on a card for the 4th of July. Then I saw an idea online to use one of the seed pods or whatever it is in the Enjoy The Moment Stamp Set! I got out a piece of scrap paper and experimented! I thought it would work along with some smaller stamps in other stamp sets! And I ended up with a fireworks card for the 4th of July that was fun to make!

The card base is Real Red Cardstock with a Basic White layer. The “balls” on the card are the seed pod. There are two together on the stamp so I colored the stamp with Real Red on one, Pacific Point blue on another, and sometimes Daffodil Delight. I used my Stampin’ Write Markers to do this. Then I found some little flowers on one stamp in the Artistically Inked Stamp Set. Since they have that kind of watercolor look to them, I thought they didn’t necessarily look like flowers, they could look like little fireworks! I colored those with red, blue, and yellow markers.

After I had all the fireworks stamped, I used the tiny dots in the Artistically Inked Stamp Set to stamp on top of the stamped fireworks and even just randomly in the background with Versamark Ink. Next, I dumped on some Heat & Stick Powder and shook off the excess, then heated with my Heat Tool. After that, I dumped the stamped piece into the Gilded Leafing. It had been a while since I had used this technique so I wasn’t sure I remembered how to do it. I rubbed off the excess leafing with my hands and then with a piece of sponge, although I think before I had used an old stencil brush. Whatever is gentle on the leafing that works for you is okay. That gave my fireworks some gold glimmer!

Here is another card I made using some kind of snowflake stamps to look like fireworks! Look through your stamps, old and new, and see what you can use. Don’t forget stars – stars are great for any celebration!

The greeting is in the Blossoms In Bloom Stamp Set. I used Real Red for the diecut from the Ornate Frames Dies as a layer under the greeting. I originally planned to use the Playful Alphabet Dies to spell out USA but I ran out of room. I just used a Pacific Point Stampin’ Write Marker and wrote in USA at the bottom of the greeting plus added some little blue stars! And for extra bling, besides the Gilded Leafing, I added some In Color Jewels randomly on the card.

I won’t be sending this card since the 4th is tomorrow, but I will set it out somewhere with some 4th of July decorations! I like my little fireworks with the Gilded Leafing to spiff it up!

Have a Happy 4th of July tomorrow and this weekend to celebrate our wonderful country! Hope you get to see some fireworks or stamp your own on a card like my 4th of July Fireworks USA Birthday Card.

Enjoy The Moment Seed Pod Card

Enjoy The Moment Seed Pod Card

The stamp set we got in our “Swag Bag” from the virtual Stampin’ Up! Convention called OnStage At Home is what I used on this card, Enjoy The Moment Seed Pod Card. It’s an odd stamp set. I think we will have to learn exactly what the images are – various seed pods and seeds. Something different to play with! It’s actually an easy stamp set to use for beginners because you can stamp the image in one color and stop. Or you can move ahead and do a little coloring on the images. Whatever you like!

The stamp set I used is called Enjoy The Moment. If you like to make nature cards and love trees and plants, you will enjoy this set. I also love the sayings in the set. You can use those with lots of other stamp sets.

I chose a piece of the new Dandy Garden 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper for this card and therefore I chose the coordinating Mossy Meadow cardstock for the card base. I cut a narrow piece of Whisper White and stamped whatever this plant is and colored it in with a little bit of Stampin’ Blends! I used Crumb Cake, Mossy Meadow, and one other color I can’t remember! Just play! I also stamped some of the small seeds in the stamp set in Crumb Cake just to fill in the background a little bit.

At the bottom I stamped the greeting from the set in Mossy Meadow and tied on a piece of the new Mossy Meadow Braided Linen Trim. Pretty simple card to make, and as I said, it could be even simpler if you don’t color in the stalk.

On the inside of the card since the cardstock is so dark, I added a Whisper White layer and stamped one of the smaller images in the stamp set in the corner in Mossy Meadow.

When you get to see and order from the upcoming January – June 2021 Mini Catalog you’ll want to check out this whole Dandy Garden Suite. The catalog will be delivered in December and I will be ordering them for my regular customers. If you are looking for a Demonstrator to assist you, I would be happy to order a catalog for you if you send me your contact information.

I just googled “images of seed pods” and in clicking around (someone on Pinterest even has a full board of seed pods!) I’m going to guess the seed pod on this card is a poppy seed pod. I’m sure plant enthusiasts will know! And you’ll want to make cards from this suite for those gardening or plant friends of yours!
