Take a Bow Bells Christmas Card

Take a Bow Bells Christmas Card

It is December, if you can believe it, and December means Christmas cards like this Take a Bow Bells Christmas Card. This is a basic card design so it would be pretty easy to duplicate if you wanted to make multiples. The only thing that would prevent that would be the ephemera piece I placed on the front of the card. You could omit any image there and only have a greeting, or you could stamp an image instead.

The card base is Real Red, one of the colors in the Take a Bow 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper. This paper is so great for the holidays, but there’s no reason why you couldn’t use many of the patterns for any time of year. Its 6″ x 6″ size means it’s a little easier to use that the large 12″ x 12″ sheets of paper. This paper is part of the Take a Bow Bundle if you would like the dies with which to make bows for your holiday packages or any gifts throughout the year.

For this card, I used a piece of the red, white, and green diagonally striped paper cut at 4″ x 5 1/4″ for the first layer on the card. I added a strip of the white polka dot paper to the side. It is cut at 5 1/4″ x 1 1/2″. Usually we line it up with the left edge of the designer paper, but sometimes I move it over to the right so that a little bit of the designer paper shows on the left side, too.

Before adhering the designer papers to the card, I wrapped around a piece of white ribbon in the Petal Pink & White 1/4″ Diagonal Trim Combo Pack. I tied a separate bow and adhered it with a Mini Glue Dot on the back. I usually also like to place a glue dot underneath the ribbon underneath the bow to hold everything in place.

The greeting is stamped in Real Red ink on Basic White cardstock using one of the greetings in the Peaceful Season Stamp Set. I found a die in the Unbounded Love Dies that I thought worked perfectly to fit the greeting plus add something special to the card. It is popped up with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The ephemera piece of bells and ribbon is found in the Joyful Images Ephemera Pack in the Holiday Mini Catalog. It was just laying there on my table begging to be used on a card. It is also popped up with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

If you start looking for Christmas card ideas that aren’t fussy, you can try out something like this card! It looks festive, it’s easy to make, and if you like, you can jazz it up even more for something fancier.

Fully Flowering Ephemera Card

Fully Flowering Ephemera Card

Something new in the Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog are these Ephemera Packs! I decided to use a couple of the precut pieces to make this Fully Flowering Ephemera Card. It only takes a few minutes, and you can still add your personalization to the card. There are four different package choices to make cardmaking or scrapbooking quick and easy! Check them out on page 19 in the Annual Catalog or online.

If you want to make cardmaking very easy you can purchase a set of five cards and five envelopes. There are two different styles and will go with any of the ephemera packs. With these cards, you don’t even have to choose which colors of cardstock to use. They are ready to go and the envelopes are decorated and match the cards.

For my card today, I chose these flower images from the Fully Flowering Ephemera Pack. The front image of two pink flowers, leaves, and green strawberries is one image and the extra pink flower at the top is another one. These floral elements in this pack are laser-cut to look like die-cut pieces. Just punch them out and adhere to your card or project. You get 8 sheets, 2 each of 4 different designs. Each sheet is 5″ x 7″. There are over a dozen colors that coordinate with this Fully Flowering Pack. A few of the images are not colored in so you can use those as they are or color them in yourself.

I chose a Pretty In Pink Cardstock card base with a layer of Basic White cut a little smaller than usual at 3 3/4″ x 5″. I thought the background needed “something” so I chose to “splatter” some Pretty In Pink ink on the Basic White. My splattering skills needed a little practice but really, you can’t go wrong with splattering! I just added some Pretty In Pink reinker into the lid of the ink pad and picked it up with some water using the Water Painter. Then I tapped the Water Painter against my Take Your Pick Tool to make the ink splatter.

The large image of the two pink flowers is popped up with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the extra pink flower is just adhered flat on the card with Stampin’ Seal. The greeting is in the Saying Something Ephemera Pack. I also added a few Iridescent Rhinestone Jewels, which are retired, but I am going to use mine anyway. They are good for adding a little sparkle without showing off too much with color. If you want to use something in the Annual Catalog I would suggest the Iridescent Foil Gems or the Rhinestone Basic Jewels.

Both of these ephemera packs that I used on this card are back ordered but will be in stock again soon! the Saying Something Pack is due the week of July 1 and the Fully Flowering Pack is due the week of July 8. You can always check sooner because some things come in a little ahead of the date.

Don’t think these Ephemera Packs are limited to cardmaking! They can be used for scrapbook pages, too, or even other projects such as home decor, maybe in a framed piece. The sky is the limit!
