Two Quick & Easy Heart & Home Cards

Heart & Home Just For You Card

The Heart & Home Designer Series Paper is retiring on Thursday, June 30, so if you need to stock up on pretty papers you might want to consider this one and make these Two Quick & Easy Heart & Home Cards. The paper designs are pretty enough for some simple cards that you can dress up a little bit but they can just be nice, simple, rather basic cards.

The first one has a card base of Pale Papaya and a layer of Soft Succulent. You could leave off the Soft Succulent layer but sometimes I like an extra layer that helps set off the designer paper. I really like this pattern with the little Pale Papaya flowers and green stems.

For the greeting, I chose the “Just For You” from the Celebrating You Stamp Set. It is stamped in Soft Succulent ink and then die cut with the banner in the Stylish Shapes Dies. This is placed over a Soft Succulent label die cut from the All That Dies. I popped that up with Stampin’ Dimensionals and added a Whisper White 1/4″ Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon bow at the bottom. For a little sparkle, I added two 2021-23 In Color Jewels (retired) in Pale Papaya to each end of the banner. It adds just the perfect finishing touch, I think!

This second card is a monochromatic slimline card using a Fresh Freesia designer paper in the Heart & Home collection. Just start with a 6″ x 6″ square of cardstock and fold it in half to make a slimline card. You can certainly make it longer and wider if you like. Just layer a piece of designer paper on the card base, just slightly smaller than the card base. The words on the card are from the Biggest Wish Stamp Set. I wasn’t sure how I wanted to stamp them together or how to place them on the card. I ended up just stamping the two words in Fresh Freesia ink on Basic White and die cut with the Stitched Rectangle Dies. I layered each on a piece of Fresh Freesia cardstock. It seemed fun to just adhere the words for the greeting “cattywampus” on the card front. Of course, I had to add some bling with the Fresh Freesia colored In Color Jewels. It was hard to stop, but I think 7 jewels isn’t too much on this card!

Sometimes once you get started with a certain designer paper, you get on a roll for making cards! Use these ideas to make a stack of cards next time you have a pack of designer paper you really like but don’t need to make real fancy!

This Blessings of Home Watercolored Flowers Card card was intended to be a Fresh Freesia monochromatic card but took the step of coloring in the large flower with Fresh Freesia and then it was down the rabbit hole! I could have started over because it wasn’t turning out how I intended but I just kept going. I don’t know if that was a mistake or not!

Once I colored in the one flower even though it was purple it just didn’t seem right. So I thought I would color in the other flowers and leaves lightly. But that didn’t look good. Luckily, the paper held up well to my coloring/watercoloring so that was good.

I stamped the flower bouquet in the Blessings of Home Stamp Set with Fresh Freesia ink and then die cut it with one of the Scalloped Contours Dies. To color in the bouquet, I used the Water Painter and picked up ink from the ink refills in the lid of the ink pads I used. Some of the colors I used were Polished Pink, Pool Party, Flirty Flamingo, Mango Melody, Soft Succulent, Daffodil Delight, Soft Suede, and Granny Apple Green.

I realized the reason these flowers and leaves don’t look quite right is that the image is stamped in Fresh Freesia and not in Memento Black ink. With black ink, you see the outlines and the little texture lines in the images even though you color over them. Stamping in a light color of ink makes it look entirely different.

The card base is Fresh Freesia with a layer of the Heart & Home Designer Series Paper in a Fresh Freesia color. I just adhered the floral die cut flat on the card but you could pop it up. The greeting is in the Blessings of Home Stamp Set. However, I didn’t want to use the entire stamped greeting so I covered up the bottom line with a sticky note and inked up just the “Thank You”. Then I removed the sticky note and stamped it on a strip of Basic White. I layered that on a piece of Fresh Freesia and popped up the greeting with Dimensionals.

For embellishing, I tied a bow with the Fresh Freesia 3/8″ Open Weave Ribbon but I thought of putting it on an angle on the corner of the bouquet. Then….you guessed it…I added several Iridescent Rhinestone Basic Jewels on the ends of the greeting and here and there on the flowers!

Here is another card I stamped with the same Blessings of Home Stamp Set and colored with Stampin’ Blends Markers and had stamped in Memento Black ink so it has a whole different look.

All in all, the card has a little different look and it wasn’t what I envisioned when I began! But there are no mistakes in stamping, so I think it turned out okay and I like it fine!

The Blessings of Home Stamp Set in the new January-June 2022 Mini Catalog has this beautiful bouquet stamp in it. You might think it would be too involved to color in this Blessings of Home Floral Birthday Card, but I found that I was done before I knew it.

This time I started with the stamp set, Blessings of Home, with the largest bouquet. I would decide later what color the card base would be, etc. I stamped the bouquet on a piece of Basic White Cardstock and die-cut it with the Flowers of Home Dies. You can purchase both the stamp set and dies in the Blessings of Home Bundle and save 10% over buying them separately.

I stamped the bouquet in Memento Ink so I could color it with my Stampin’ Blends alcohol markers. I looked at the colors that coordinate with the Heart & Home 12″ x 12″ Designer Series Paper but mostly I just wanted a soft look to the flowers. I started with Pale Papaya for the big center flower with a Delightful Daffodil center, with maybe a touch of Mango Melody to darken it. The other flowers are Calypso Coral, Highland Heather, and Pool Party. The leaves are mostly Granny Apple Green. Just use whatever colors you are in the mood for!

I decided on Cinnamon Cider for a card base with a Pale Papaya layer. Then I cut two pieces of the Heart & Home Designer paper to use for angled layers. They are 3″ x 4 3/4″. I actually mixed them up by accident! I intended for the wood pattern one to go behind the flowers since it is plainer, but I think it works okay the way I made it. The busy flower pattern is behind the bouquet but I think it still looks good. You probably can’t go wrong with the pretty designer paper and this floral stamp! The floral bouquet is popped up on Stampin’ Dimensionals®.

The birthday greeting is in the Blessings of Home Stamp Set. I simply stamped it in Memento Ink on a scrap strip of Basic White and cut it down to the right length. I put a strip of Basic Black behind it to help it stand out. I could have used Cinnamon Cider perhaps or one of the other colors in the flowers instead. Since it goes across the popped up bouquet, I put Mini Dimensionals on each end and a bit of Stampin’ Seal in the center to adhere to the card over the bouquet.

It really didn’t take me long to color the flowers. Besides, coloring is good for our mental health and relaxation so we should take the time and not feel rushed! But if you don’t have time or really don’t like to color, just stamp the bouquet in a color. HERE is a card I made earlier with the smaller bouquet and just stamped it in Cinnamon Cider.

This weekend we Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators got to enjoy attending the OnStage Stampin’ Up! event….virtually! If we wanted to, we could preorder a few products so we could stamp along during the event presentations. This Blessings of Home Birthday Card uses some of those new products that will be coming in January in the January-June 2022 Mini Catalog! This card uses the new Blessings of Home Stamp Set along with the new Heart & Home Designer Series Paper. I started with a card base of Cinnamon Cider and layered that with a piece of Pale Papaya cardstock. I chose this pattern with the foliage and bumblebees on it and layered that on the Pale Papaya.

The flower bouquet is stamped in Cinnamon Cider ink on Basic White cardstock. I wanted to make it kind of a monochromatic card although it’s not really that. It kind of has the look, though! I only stamped the flowers, I didn’t try to color anything in. This stamp set has a lot of details already designed into the stamp. I die cut the flowers with the die in the Flowers of Home Dies.

The greeting is stamped in Cinnamon Cider Ink on really a scrap of Pale Papaya that happened to be laying there! This sentiment is also in the Blessings of Home Stamp Set. I flagged the ends using the Tailored Tag Punch. This punch is so useful for punching into those ends of cardstock to cut out that little notch to make it look like a banner or flag!

The flower die-cut piece is popped up on Stampin’ Dimensionals onto a Pale Papaya scalloped rectangle in the Scalloped Contours Dies. The birthday greeting is laid across the stem with a Dimensional on each end of the strip so that it fits over the popped up flower.

For some bling, I added three of the new Classic Matte Dots in white. Then I remembered the Bumblebee Trinkets that we already have and just had to add one bumblebee to the card! If I hadn’t already popped up the flower, I could have adhered the bumblebee right on the flower bouquet instead of off to the side, but if you get too many layers popped up the embellishments might not make it through the mail! I think the Bumblebee Trinkets will be really cute with this paper!

That’s it! Pretty easy card to make and certainly lots of fun ahead with this new paper and stamping with the new floral stamps! We have to get through the holidays first, but once January hits, you know we will be ready for some fresh new products!
