Lighter Than Air Rocker Card For You

Lighter Than Air Rocker Card For You

I’ve been seeing these “rocker cards” around on the internet so I thought I’d try one. The Deckled Circles Dies are perfect for this card, but you can use whatever circle dies you have. Or just cut out some circles yourself! This Lighter Than Air Rocker Card For You was fun to make! As you can imagine, it does rock back and forth a little bit!

The base for this card is a Deckled Circle in Basic White folded in half. I used the second largest die for the card base. I just cut a piece of Basic White that was 6″ wide to fit through my Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine. Put that die away and get out the third from the largest die and cut out either a half or whole circle out of designer paper. I used the Lighter Than Air 6″x 6″ Designer Series Paper for this card. Obviously you can use whatever colors of cardstock or designer series paper to make a card like this.

For the big circle in the top middle of the card, use the Deckled Circle die that is the seventh from the smallest to cut out a Basic White Circle, then use a circle the next smallest size (sixth from the smallest) to cut out another piece of designer paper. Depending on your design, you might want the next smallest die to cut out a piece of Basic White for the center on top of the designer paper for stamping or just a background. I stopped with the designer paper.

To assemble the rocker card fold the large circle of Basic White in half. That forms the rocker base. If you cut out a whole circle for the largest piece of designer paper, cut that in half or a tiny bit larger. You can measure or eyeball it. If you only cut out half a circle then you are ready to go. To get the margins, if you want those, place the designer paper where you want it on the folded Basic White base. Then push it up a little bit so the top of the designer paper extends over the folded edge. Holding everything in place, turn it over and either cut or mark a pencil line along that fold on the back of the designer paper. Now you can cut off that small strip of designer paper that you marked with the pencil line. When you place the designer paper back on the Basic White base you will have margins all around. Adhere the designer paper to the white base.

Adhere the designer paper to the center circle (which is not yet attached to the card). Grab an envelope that you are going to use and place the rocker base on top of the envelope. Then position the center circle so that it is centered on the base but will be contained within the envelope. (I should have used a colored envelope for this photo but hopefully you can see how I positioned everything so the finished card would fit in the envelope.) The white underneath the card in the photo is one of our Stampin’ Up! Medium White Envelopes (my favorite!).

Now you can finish decorating your card however you like. I cut out two hot air balloons from the Lighter Than Air DSP. The one on the left is glued flat on the card and the purple one is popped up on Stampin’ Dimensionals.

The small greeting is stamped in Fresh Freesia ink and die cut with the smallest circle in the Stylish Shapes Dies. You can add a bow or jewels to the card, too, for additional embellishment. Then stamp or write your personal greeting or message inside the card. The recipient can set the card out on a table and let it rock!

This is what the card would look like if you opened up the base.

I think this rocker card will be a fun one to make and send out! Talk about impressing the recipient with your cardmaking skills! You don’t have to tell them how simple it really is!

Lighter Than Air Suite in Spring Mini

One of the popular Suites in the new Stampin’ Up! Spring Mini Catalog is this Lighter Than Air Suite! You will find this Suite on pages 32-34. If you like hot air balloons, you will love this Suite! I might like looking at hot air balloons, but I don’t think I want to ride in one so high up! I remember when we were first married, there was some event with several hot air balloons on the ground in a field and we could walk up and see them up close. There was one that you could get into the basket and just be lifted up a little bit, still anchored to the ground. Just a tiny little ride not far off the ground! I wish we would have tried that! It was a pretty safe way to test out a hot air balloon ride, just a little bit! One time, years ago, a hot air balloon landed in my parents’ neighborhood, right out on the street! Fortunately, it was a neighborhood street, not a heavily trafficked one, but I guess that is where the balloon needed to land. They certainly are pretty floating across the sky!

I love the soft colors in this Suite, especially in the Lighter Than Air 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper. This paper is pretty to use for many cards for many occasions or projects. There’s only one pattern with hot air balloons on it but the other patterns are very generic. There are stripes, dots, and many other patterns you can use for general cards, baby cards, birthday cards, and more!

I suggest getting this designer paper, Rainbow Dots, and Baker’s Twine if nothing else! Here is a card I made recently using the Lighter Than Air 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper and the Rainbow Dots. The pastel colors are so pretty, you can’t go wrong! Of course, there is a stamp set and dies to really indulge your love of hot air balloons. You can see lots of design ideas on pages 32 and 34.

Enjoy this Stampin’ Up! video telling you all about the Suite!

Lighter Than Air Hot Air Balloon Card

Lighter Than Air Hot Air Balloon Card

Happy 2024! After all the holiday excitement, do you feel ready for a hot air balloon ride? Maybe you can’t go on one so easily, but you will be able to make this Lighter Than Air Hot Air Balloon Card very soon!

Today is back to work and back to business, I guess! I hope you had a wonderful holiday and are ready for all the new things coming your way at Stampin’ Up! In just two days we will have a new Spring Mini Catalog and the best promotion of them all, Sale-A-Bration. Then there will be new products popping up in the Online Exclusives and new kits in the Kits Collection! What’s more fun than new Stampin’ Up! products, especially in a new catalog?

Here are the two catalogs my regular customers should have gotten in the mail over the holidays! I hope you found them in all the cards and retail catalogs you probably have been getting!

Spring Mini and SaleABration Catalogs

Let’s look at the Lighter Than Air Hot Air Balloon Card! For now, I only have the Lighter Than Air 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper (162747) in the Lighter Than Air Suite in the Spring Mini Catalog on pages 32-34, officially known as the January-April 2024 Mini Catalog. I also have the embellishments in the Suite but not the stamp set and dies. You will find some extra dies in the Hot Air Balloon Dies in the Bundle with the stamp set that will be fun to use!

My sample card was inspired by a card in the catalog on page 32. Mine is not exactly the same as I made it only using the designer paper and cardstock for the card base. The card base is Petal Pink with the cloud patterned paper with a Petal Pink background used as a layer. Then I cut out several hot air balloons from the Lighter Than Air Designer Paper using Paper Snips. I don’t mind cutting out images from paper unless they are really detailed, and even then you can usually make it easier on yourself than it looks!

From the paper, I simply chose four hot air balloons I liked and cut them out. I know odd numbers often work best, but I was happy with how four balloons fit on my card. After placing them, I glued two down flat on the card and popped up the other two with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

The greeting is stamped in Petal Pink ink on Basic White with one end flagged and one end straight against the edge of the designer paper layer. The greeting is in the Hills of Tuscany Stamp Set (162682) since it looked like the right size I needed and it was on my table!

I couldn’t resist using the new Rainbow Adhesive-Backed Dots (162758) on page 33. This Lighter Than Air Designer Paper has such pretty colors and there are a lot of them! The Rainbow Dots are equally pretty, 20 each of 8 colors. Be sure you order them because they will be great with spring projects of any kind, even if you don’t order anything in this Suite. The three colors of baker’s twine in the Suite are also very pretty and will be useful for lots of projects, too!

If you love hot air balloons, this Suite is for you for sure! And if you love soft, pretty colors, you will want this Lighter Than Air Designer Series Paper and the embellishments at least!

Remember, during Sale-A-Bration with every $50 you spend, you will earn one free Level 1 product in the Sale-A-Bration Brochure.

All the fun begins Thursday, January 4th!
