Meandering Meadows Happy Birthday Card

Meandering Meadows Happy Birthday Card

This is the Meandering Meadows Happy Birthday Card which I made for my son, in kind of a hurry since it became really a “belated” birthday card! At least I mailed it on his birthday, I think! I actually did make this card for him because he loves to go hiking in the mountains where he lives. I thought this beautiful scene on this designer paper looked like a trail he might find when he goes hiking. Maybe it looks more like a trail I would like since it looks flat and there are no drop-offs on the side!

This card has a Basic White cardstock card base with a little wider than usual margin before we get to the card layers. Your layer colors will be determined by which of the papers you choose from the Meandering Meadows 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper. I don’t have the card in front of me as I write this, but I believe for this pattern I chose Shaded Spruce and Lemon Lime Twist cardstock for the layers. I almost always play around with a couple different colors as I work on a card to see which ones look best together on the card.

The greeting is stamped with two different stamps in the Choose Happy Stamp Set. You can make up many different greetings with this set. It also has a lot of cute little images that might be fun to use in your cardmaking and other projects. It is diecut with one of the small banner dies in the Stylish Shapes Dies. I cut off the left side of the banner, lined it up with the edge of the designer paper, and adhered a bow made with a double layer of the Garden Green Natural Tones Linen Thread. You get three colors in this pack of this linen thread!

And if you want to decorate the inside, this is what I added to the inside of this card:

Meandering Meadows Love Card

Meandering Meadows Love Card

If you want to make a super easy card like this Meandering Meadows Love Card, all you need is some beautiful designer series paper and a greeting! And this Meandering Meadows 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper meets that description.

This card base is Melon Mambo cardstock with an extra layer cut at 5 3/8″ x 4 1/8″ of Petal Pink cardstock. I have always loved the color Melon Mambo, almost as much as I love Real Red. I used the extra Petal Pink layer to bring out the color of the pink flowers on the paper.

This Meandering Meadows paper has impressionistic scenes of beautiful meadows with brightly colored flowers and gorgeous clouds in the sky. Each page could be a framed watercolored piece of art. When I used this paper on this card I didn’t want to trim it down very much and lose any more of the colorful scene than I had to.

The greeting is in the Citrus Blooms Stamp Set. I wanted something that wasn’t going to cover up much of the designer paper. The sentiment is stamped in Melon Mambo ink and the banner shapes is sponged just a little around the edges with Melon Mambo ink.

For a little embellishment, I adhered a few Adhesive-Backed Dragonflies & Birds . These little brass winged creatures are perfect to use on a card like this out in nature! You could easily make a stack of these cards using this Meandering Meadows Designer Paper because every sheet of the paper makes a beautiful card. You can add a specific greeting later for just the right occasion.

Meandering Meadows Scenic View Card

Meandering Meadows Scenic View Card

This Meandering Meadows Scenic View Card uses beautiful designer paper that I haven’t used in awhile and using a greeting that is brand new! Actually, the card base is brand new also!

This designer series paper is called Meandering Meadows and comes in the 6″ x 6″ size. You’ll find it in the Online Exclusives. Each paper is like owning a painting of a beautiful meadow painted by an artist in the impressionist style. You really could frame each individual scenic paper or change them out every few months for some art in your home!

The paper is part of the Meandering Meadows Suite Collection. As I write this, the whole Suite is not available only because the Adhesive-Backed Dragonflies & Birds is out of stock BUT due in next week! With the Suite you get the stamp set, Garden Meadow, the Garden Meadow Dies, the paper, the ribbon, and the brass embellishments.

To make this card, I started with the new Basic Beige Cardstock, one of the new Basic colors. I thought this color of cardstock would go well with the other colors I was using. The Basic Beige is layered with the greenish side of one of the papers that has a scene.

This arched die is perfect for making kind of a window into one of the scenic papers. If you cut the arched-opening first, you can place it over some of the scenic papers and see which one you would like to show through the window, then cut that paper just a smidge smaller than your arched piece. I glued everything on flat to the card but you could use Dimensionals if you wanted.

The greeting is in one of the new Ephemera Packs in the catalog. This one has all kinds of greetings and is the Saying Something Ephemera Pack. The three others have flowers, labels, and miscellaneous things that will be fun to use. I chose this one because the colors kind of went with the card and it fit nicely on the card. You know I couldn’t resist using a few Iridescent Foil Gems on the card.

There are so many fun products in the Online Exclusives so even though they are not in the catalog, don’t forget to check that category online when you are ordering. Of course, new products are going to be added along and along, too! The Online Exclusives makes that convenient so Stampin’ Up! can put new things out there without waiting for a new catalog to be published.
