Prized Peony Monochromatic Easter Card

If you would like to make a pretty easy Easter card, this Prized Peony Monochromatic Easter Card will do! When you use one color, it takes some design decisions out of the way. I did some embossing on a layer but you could skip that. Just stamp, assemble your card, maybe add a ribbon for embellishment and it’s finished.

The card base is Highland Heather. Based on inspiration from an embossed piece of cardstock in the package, I decided to use the Ornate Floral 3D Embossing Folder to add a little extra to the card. It is a separate layer on the card, not the card base.I like to use these tiny embossed flowers, but sadly, it is retiring! It is on sale, though, so if you want it, grab it.

The flower, from the Prized Peony Stamp Set, is stamped in Highland Heather ink on my favorite paper, Shimmery White. The Prized Peony Stamp Set is a Distinktive Stamp Set, that design by Stampin’ Up! that adds texture and depth right in one stamp. That’s why this peony stamp works well if you want to make a monochromatic card because all the design is already in the stamp. You don’t have to do another thing to it unless you want to. I was daring and stamped the greeting right in the corner of the card rather than on a layer (but I could have covered it if I messed up!). The Easter greeting is from the Celebrating You Stamp Set. The Prized Peony Stamp Set does come with some very useful greetings for other occasions, just not Easter!

For a little something, I finally tried something new. I wanted to have a bow on the flower stem so I colored the ribbon to match the card. I used the White 1/4″ Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon and then, on scrap paper, ran the side of a Highland Heather Stampin’ Blends Marker over the ribbon. The alcohol markers dry very quickly. I tried both the Light Heather and the Dark Heather markers and decided the Dark was probably a better match to the card. I could have left the ribbon white, but I happened to think about dying the ribbon with the marker. Nothing to it unless you get colored fingers. But do remember to use scrap paper underneath! The ink goes through this thin ribbon so you only have to color one side.

Here are the two products that are retiring in the Last-Chance Sale AND discounted! The Prized Peony Stamp Set is on sale for $19.20 and the Ornate Floral EF is on sale for $5.40!

Easter is coming soon, so if you would like to send out cards, start making some Easter cards so it won’t be a last-minute rush! Make a card something like this Prized Peony Monochromatic Easter Card if you are looking for something quick and easy but still pretty!

Encircled in Beauty Christmas Card

Encircled in Beauty Christmas Card

Don’t forget to think of the Encircled in Beauty Dies when it comes to making Christmas cards, as I used in this Encircled in Beauty Christmas Card. We also have the Encircled in Warmth Stamp Set with wonderful greetings for the holidays. There are so many pretty possibilities!

This card is relatively easy to make. The card base is Blushing Bride with a layer of Basic White Cardstock. I used the Encircled in Beauty Die to cut out the doily image but I did not use the outer die to cut out the whole image from the Basic White paper. Instead, I used the “negative” image left in the paper as the focal point, removing the center circle that was die cut. Next, I embossed the paper just for some texture with the Ornate Floral 3D Embossing Folder.

I layered this die-cut and embossed piece of Basic White on the Blushing Bride while I decided how to finish off the card. I decided to use the greeting in the Encircled in Warmth Stamp Set. It is stamped in Blushing Bride ink and die cut with one of the Stitched Rectangle Dies.

While looking at the beautiful Whimsy & Wonder Designer Series Paper I thought of cutting out one of the ornaments on the paper with Paper Snips and using it in the center of the doily image. I used a piece of the silver metallic thread from the Flowers For Every Season Ribbon Combo Pack. You could use any other kind of twine or ribbon. I wanted something very thin.

I popped up the Basic White die cut piece with Stampin’ Dimensionals® and also the ornament to look like it was hanging inside the empty circle. Then the greeting was adhered flat on the card front with Stampin’ Seal.

You will find the Encircled in Beauty Dies in the Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog and you will find the Encircled in Warmth Stamp Set in the Holiday Mini Catalog. I think it might be easy to forget about these stamps and dies but they will make beautiful and unique cards, for Christmas and other occasions using the Encircled in Friendship Stamp Set also.

It’s time to plan your Christmas cards and gather your supplies to get a start on your holiday preparations! If you already own these Encircled in Beauty Dies, be sure to pull them out and use this Encircled in Beauty Christmas Card for some inspiration.

Ornate Style Birthday Card

Ornate Style Birthday Card

I think this card might be a little too bright for me even though I think I like Granny Apple Green Cardstock just fine! But today it looks very bright! But it certainly is an Ornate Style Birthday Card with all the colors, stamping, embossing, and diecutting! I just looked through the catalog to see what stamp sets I have that are retiring and which ones I want to showcase again before they are gone!

To make this card, I started by stamping the large bouquet in the Ornate Style Stamp Set, retiring May 3. I stamped it with Memento Ink and colored in with Stampin’ Blends. Just choose whatever colors you like for the flowers and leaves. Then I cut it out with Paper Snips, although I first took it to my Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine thinking there was a die to cut out this bouquet! No such luck!

I did use the coordinating dies, the Ornate Layers Dies, to cut out the fancy frame to layer underneath the bouquet out of Calypso Coral Cardstock. If you want to save 10%, you can purchase the Ornate Style Stamp Set and Ornate Layers Dies together in the Ornate Style Bundle. The dies are not retiring. They will be in the new catalog!

Before I layered the cut out bouquet on the Calypso Coral die cut piece, I put some ribbon behind it winding back and forth. This ribbon now is on the Clearance Rack! It’s the All the Trimmings Combo Pack, the Old Olive ribbon with a gold edge. The bouquet is popped up on Stampin’ Dimensionals.

To decorate the card front, I embossed it with the Ornate Floral 3D Embossing Folder. This folder is so pretty with all the tiny flowers and leaves to provide a nice, textured background. This folder is being carried over to the new catalog so it will not be retiring like the stamp set.

For a greeting, I chose the “Birthday Wishes” from the retiring Itty Bitty Birthdays Stamp Set. I hate that all the “Itty Bitty” stamp sets are leaving us! I could always find a greeting to use for any occasion in one of the stamp sets. But rest assured, there are a lot of greeting stamps in the new catalog as well!

Here’s another card I made with the Ornate Style Stamp Set. I just stamped and colored in the bouquet and added some sequins for some bling!

Only about another two weeks to go until the new Stampin’ Up! Catalog goes live on May 4th! Enjoy your current stamp sets and be sure to show them some love before all you want to use are your new sets!
