Storybook Moments Z-Fold Bunnies Card

Storybook Moments Z-Fold Bunnies Card

I think this Storybook Moments Z-Fold Bunnies Card turned out so sweet, not because I made it, but because the paper and the bunnies are just irresistible. I didn’t even add a greeting because this was not meant to be an Easter card (although it could be!) and I wasn’t sure for what occasion I would send it or to whom I would send it. And I could have no sentiment and just write a personal message inside.

This is a Z-Fold card which I think always looks special and yet is simple to make. It is just the front of the card folded back on a center score line. The only tricky part is adhering the center panel on the front, centered properly, so that if you have a stamped greeting on the inside, it is completely hidden from the front because of how you place it.

This card starts with a base of Boho Blue cardstock. Cut the usual card size, 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″. Score at 2 1/8″ and 4 1/4″. Or score the card at 4 1/4″ as usual, then score the card front in half. Half of 4 1/4″ is 2 1/8″. Or just fold the card front in half lining it up with the card fold. Then decorate however you like.

I used the Storybook Moments Specialty Designer Series Paper for this card. I have liked this paper so much I have almost used all of it and that doesn’t usually happen! I just love the patterns with the strawberries and I got to use both on this card! One has a pinkish background and one has blue. My friend said she’d like to have the blue one for wallpaper! That would take a lot of packages of paper!

I adhered a piece of the pink strawberry pattern to the front panel. It is cut at 5 3/8″ x 2″. The main thing to think about is keeping margins the same wherever you place paper on the card. This measurement gave a teeny tiny margin around the edges. If you want the usual margin, then cut the designer paper a little narrower and shorter. But then so that with the inside layer and the strip on the right-hand edge of the card, IF you are doing those. The inside of my card has a Basic White piece cut at 4 1/8″ x 5 3/8″. I played and played trying to decide on the paper design for the edge of the card and finally the blue background strawberry pattern looked perfect.

The Basic White paper on the inside of the card (for a stamped or written message or note) looked too stark white against the other papers so I used a Small Blending Brush (or you could use a sponge) to apply just a very light shade of Crumb Cake ink just around the edges and even a bit in the center. Very light! It’s just enough to match the background of the paper with the bunnies instead of looking so white.

The focal point of the card uses the Storybook Moments DSP pattern with the larger images of bunnies in a variety of poses and actions. I used the largest circle die in the Stylish Shapes Dies because that was the size I needed to get every bit of the bunnies in the die. That left me with nothing larger for the layer. After looking through my dies, I chose the Memorable Blooms Dies (which were on the Last Chance List and now must be discontinued). The octagon shape fit the bunny diecut very well and the Old Olive cardstock helped it stand out from the background.

The strip on the side of the card is 1″ x 5 3/8″, again, matching the same length of the other papers and margins on the card. You can vary this size or not even add it. For a finishing touch, I added a small bow under the bunny piece. I haven’t gone through my ribbons in awhile so this one may be retired as well. It was a Granny Apple Green in a Ribbon Duo Combo Pack. Use whatever you have. Linen Thread would look perfect on this card as well. Another important tip is to only put glue or adhesive on the half of the focal point panel so that it only is sticky on the side going on the Z-Fold and not sticking to the inside of the card!

Here is a photo of the card opened up so you can see how the Z-Fold looks.

Storybook Moments Z-Fold Bunnies Card Open

As much as I like to add bling or sparkles, I felt this card was fine without anything else, just the bow!

Don’t forget about the Last Chance List! Some items are discounted but not all and once they are gone from there, they are gone. The Last Chance List of retiring products has now taken the place of the Clearance Rack. If a product in any retiring catalog is carrying over, if you don’t see it in the new catalog it is in the Online Exclusives category in the Online Store!

Also, remember that now you get Stampin’ Rewards in your account to spend on a future order any time you place an order of $20 or more in merchandise! In fact, I noticed that when you view a product in the Online Store, it will tell you what your rewards would be for that product!

Storybook Moments Just A Note Card

Storybook Moments Just A Note Card

While Stampin’ Up! is updating the website with the new Stampin’ Rewards program, let’s enjoy another card, the Storybook Moments Just A Note Card, using the adorable Storybook Moments Specialty Designer Series Paper. You could change the greeting on this card for another occasion, even a “Happy Easter” greeting if you need a last minute card! The Storybook Moments paper has two sheets designed with a variety of individual panels that you can cut apart and use separately, unlike normal sheets of designer paper. This chipmunk was one of those panels, as I call them, so I just cut it apart from the rest of the paper and mounted it on this card! Couldn’t be easier!

This card has an Old Olive cardstock base. The background paper is actually the “other side” of the paper with the separate panels. The other side of this chipmunk image is the background foliage pattern you see on the card. To help the chipmunk stand out better against the background, I layered him on a piece of Old Olive and popped that up with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The chipmunk picture is 3″ x 3 3/4″ so the Old Olive layer is 3 1/4″ x 4″.

The greeting is in the Greetings For All Ephemera Pack in the Spring Mini Catalog on page 13. To keep it small, I cut around the words. I also sponged a little bit of Old Olive ink around the edges to take off just a bit of the “whiteness” of the ephemera paper since the rest of the card didn’t have any bright white. The greeting is layered on a small circle, diecut with the Stylish Shapes Dies. It has one Stampin’ Dimensional underneath the area that doesn’t layer on top of the already popped up chipmuch picture. You can put a bit of regular glue under the part that is flat on the chipmunk. I also tied a bow with a double strand of Linen Thread and adhered that to the greeting with a Mini Glue Dot. If you don’t own any Linen Thread, you should definitely get some because it is perfect to use when you just need a little something or don’t have the right color ribbon or twine. I have used it a lot through the years!

I still had a few of the retired Adhesive-Backed Hearts & Flowers, so I added a couple of the little white flowers on the green flower stems around the chipmunk. I think they look cute there!

That’s all there is to making this card! The characters on this Storybook Moments Designer Paper are so sweet and adorable! You can’t get enough of them and I have made lots of cards and treats with this paper. It’s not just for Easter, either. It is perfect for baby cards, scrapbook pages, and other projects, plus just any cards or scrapbook pages you want to make!

Remember, the Stampin’ Up! website should be down today for about six hours, but once it goes back up, the new Rewards system will be in place and you can start earning Stampin’ Rewards on any order over $20! Everyone will earn 10% in rewards on every order of $20 or more; no more accumulating an order of $150 so you can get $15 in free product. Now you can spend your reward on your NEXT order or save them up from several orders to add to a large order. The reward will expire one year from when it was issued and the system will know which ones are the oldest to take off your order first. I think this is a good thing for all customers. I know some stores offer “store cash” with purchases that you can spend the next time you shop, so this is modeled somewhat after that. If you have questions, just ask.

The only thing customers need to do is 1.) Have a Stampin’ Up! account, and 2.) Opt in to the Rewards program. There will be an Opt In box that pops up that will look like this:

Stampin' Rewards Opt In Box

If you don’t opt in, that’s fine, but you will not earn rewards although you can always sign up in the future. Demonstrators will no longer be able to take your order and use your credit card number for your order due to new banking and privacy laws. However, if you cannot put in your own online order, you can pay your Demonstrator directly (like with cash, Paypal, check, etc.). I think once we all figure it out the first time it will be fine and a benefit for every customer!

You should be able to order later today when the website is back up and running with the new Stampin’ Rewards program!

Storybook Moments Garden Card

Storybook Moments Garden Card

This Storybook Moments Garden Card was a fun card to make! Since the Spring Mini Catalog came out in January, I have loved the sample card on page 23, the slimline card with the flowerpots, sprinkling can, and bunnies! I used that sample card for the inspiration for this card.

One of the special things about the Storybook Moments Specialty Designer Series Paper is that it has two sheets of diecut images that coordinate with the paper. Everything about this paper is delightful! The images are so cute and sweet, and it can be used for spring, Easter, babies, or any kind of special card. Sometimes you might use just one diecut for an embellishment on a card with other stamping or you might just have fun creating a card with several or lots of these diecuts as I did on this card.

The card base is Lost Lagoon cardstock with a layer of a blue plaid in the Timeless Plaid 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper, also in the Spring Mini Catalog. As I worked with the diecut pieces to design my card, I decided to add some green plaid paper at the bottom. I just took a strip of green plaid and cut the top with scissors in a little curvy design like hilly ground would be, although it is mostly hidden on this card. Even though the background “sky” is plaid and the “grass” is plaid, it all looks good together. I love this Timeless Plaid DSP! It’s very versatile.

I had already punched out all the diecut images and put them in a plastic pouch to keep them together so I dumped those all out on the table so I could see what all my choices were to use for this card. How fun does this look?!

Storybook Moments Diecuts

I simply played around with the pieces until I was happy with the placement on my card. Here is a tip when you are laying out things and then have to remove them to adhere each piece, sometimes overlapping, to the card. Take a picture with your phone after you have everything arranged how you want it! Then you can take the pieces off and using the photo on your phone, put everything back how you planned it. I popped up the wheelbarrow and dirt and plant piece on Stampin’ Dimensionals and adhered the rest with Multipurpose Liquid Glue.

For the wheelbarrow, I thought it would look good to have the radishes and carrots appear to be “in” the wheelbarrow so I cut a slit along the inside edge of the wheelbarrow and slipped the vegetables into that slit just a little bit. Since I was popping up the wheelbarrow anyway, the Dimensionals on the back held in the vegetables at the same time they were popping up the whole piece.

The greeting is from the Playing in the Rain Stamp Set. As I looked through my ephemera packs and stamp sets, this greeting in this stamp set is the one I decided on. Don’t forget to look through your stamp sets sometimes to maybe use something you wouldn’t think of or to refresh your memory on what you have to use. The greeting is stamped in Lost Lagoon ink and cut out with a rectangular die in the Nested Essentials Dies.

Here is another card using the Storybook Moments diecuts to make an easy card!

If you like this Storybook Moments paper, it is Low Inventory as I write this, so order it right away if you are interested. You still have time to get it and make Easter cards if you want to use it partly for that!

Storybook Moments Diecuts Easter Card

Storybook Moments Diecuts Easter Card

Easter is coming so here is a card I made, the Storybook Moments Diecuts Easter Card. This is an easy card to make because it is mostly made with diecuts. The only stamping is the greeting.

The card base is Calypso Coral cardstock with a layer of Basic White cardstock. The Basic White is cut at 4 3/4″ x 3 1/2″ because I wanted a wider margin around the outside of it than usual. But I did a little artistic creativity on the Basic White for the background! At least I did it after I planned out what the card would look like.

What makes this card so easy are the diecuts! You will find them in the Storybook Moments 12″ x 12″ Specialty Designer Series Paper. This paper has the perfect name because the designs on the papers are what you would find in a children’s storybook, something on the order of Peter Rabbit stories by Beatrix Potter. The images are perfect for Easter, spring, baby cards, children’s cards and more! The whole package of Storybook Moments paper is interesting because the 12 sheets of patterned paper include 2 each of 5 double-sided designs and 2 each of 1 single-sided die-cut design. So you can use the regular designer paper or punch out the diecuts and use those. That’s what I did with this card.

On the front of this card you see perhaps a mother goose (or duck?) and her baby, a fence, and three foliage diecuts. I was using a sample in the Spring Mini Catalog on page 26 for my inspiration. Most of these diecuts are all popped up on Stampin’ Dimensionals. Even though I was copying the sample in the catalog, I wanted more of a background for the little scene. I colored in the sky by just scribbling back and forth with a Light Pool Party Stampin’ Blend and Light Pecan Pie down at the bottom for the ground, with some sprigs of grass or greenery with a Dark Granny Apple Green Stampin’ Blend. Don’t try to get fancy with this coloring, I just lightly scribbled my Stampin’ Blend across the cardstock.

The greeting is in the Choose Happy Stamp Set and stamped in Calypso Coral ink. I just stamped it on a narrow scrap strip of Basic White cardstock. I cut a little banner on the one end and popped it up with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I think the little hearts are from a Paper Pumpkin Kit and were just extras on my table that I used. You could embellish with most any other gems or sequins that you have if you wanted a little sparkle or bling.

I just love playing with diecuts that come with designer paper as it provides another fun way to make cards besides stamping. Another thing is to diecut some of the images in the paper with the Storybook Garden Patch Dies or simply cut some out with. sharp scissors like our Paper Snips. If you would also like a Sticker Sheet to use on your projects, purchase the Storybook Moments Specialty Designer Series Paper & Sticker Sheet.

These papers have been out-of-stock but it looks like they should be available sometime next week! You’ll still have time to make Easter cards and scrapbook pages or other projects. Easter is April 20th.

Storybook Moments Blue Flowers Thinking of You Card

Storybook Moments Blue Flowers Thinking of You Card

This Storybook Moments Blue Flowers Thinking of You Card was an easy card to make with the Storybook Moments Paper again and one of the diecuts in the package. It’s different than what I thought I was going to make, but I’m happy with it!

The card base is made with Boho Blue cardstock, one of the 2023-2025 In Colors. That means this group of In Colors should be going out when the new Stampin’ Up! catalog comes out. Honestly, I won’t be sad to see this group to go. They were just too drab for me, they weren’t my favorites. If you love them and need reinkers or cardstock, you might think ahead and beat the rush when the retirement list comes out.

The blue floral paper on the front is one of the small panels that you cut apart in the Storybook Moments Specialty Designer Series Paper. Such an interesting pack of paper! Two sheets have all these small panels, as I said. Some are florals, some are frames, some are critters like my Easter Duck card HERE from the other day. Another two pages are diecuts of all kinds of things that do with the Storybook Moments Designer Paper. (This paper has sold at as I write this but is due back in stock March 10th. You can check back earlier, sometimes things come in sooner. But still time to get it before Easter!)

This floral piece is 3″ x 4″. I put a layer of Basic Beige 3 1/8″ x 4 1/8″ underneath it and then a layer of Misty Moonlight 3 3/8″ x 4 3/8″. You can vary the widths if you like. The blue flowers, one of the diecuts is centered and popped up on Stampin’ Dimensionals. The greeting is one of the diecuts in the Saying Something Mix & Match Ephemera Pack. It’s so great to find a greeting that works in an ephemera pack! Easy as can be!

For some embellishments on the card I tied a piece of Garden Green thread around the flower stems. It is one of the colors in the Natural Tones Linen Thread. I think it adds just a little bit of interest. And for a little sparkle, I added three Misty Moonlight gems in the Tinsel Gems 3-Pack.

If you already have this paper or Suite, I hope you get some inspiration from this card. If you don’t own the Storybook Moments Specialty Designer Series Paper, you might consider ordering it for spring, Easter, babies, children, and just beautiful cards and scrapbook pages!

Storybook Moments Ducks Happy Easter Card

Storybook Moments Ducks Happy Easter Card

Valentine’s Day is over so I guess we are off to Easter…and/or Spring! I didn’t necessarily plan to make an Easter card for today, but this Storybook Moments Ducks Happy Easter Card came about after cutting apart these different little panels on the two sheets of designer paper.

This card features the Storybook Moments Specialty Designer Series Paper. You will find it on page 25 in the Stampin’ Up! Spring Mini Catalog (January-April Mini). It is part of the whole Storybook Moments Suite Collection if you want it ALL! Two stamp sets, two sets of dies, two designer papers, embellishments, and ribbon! It’s an understatement to say it’s an adorable suite! The designer paper has images of cottages, neighborly critters, gardening accessories, and garden grown produce! Don’t think it is only for Easter because it will make darling cards and scrapbook pages for babies, children, springtime, and any time you want to send a special card. The designer paper package also comes with two sheets of diecut images that you can adhere to your projects, cards, and scrapbook pages.

This card starts with a base of Lost Lagoon cardstock. This color is so pretty yet I don’t use this cardstock as much as some others. Besides the diecuts in the Storybook Moments DSP, the other special thing are the two sheets of smaller panels of different images from frames to flowers, to critters and produce. Just cut them apart easily with your Paper Trimmer and then use individually. The one that stood out to me the most was this one with the mother duck and two baby ducks, I assume.

I layered the ducks (panel is 3″ x 4″) on a 3 1/4″ x 4 1/4″ piece of Lemon Lolly Cardstock and another layer of Basic Beige at 3 1/2″ x 4 1/2″. This leaves a nice margin of the Lost Lagoon cardstock to show around the edge of the duck panel picking up the colors of the sky and the duck clothing.

The greeting is in the Greetings For All Mix & Match Ephemera Pack. Just punch out the diecut greeting that you want. This greeting had a white background which I didn’t like because I didn’t have white on the card. So I watercolored the greeting! I thought the Stampin’ Blend marker would be a little too dark so I used a Water Painter and tiny amounts of Lost Lagoon ink. I really mostly picked up the ink off the edges of my ink pad and maybe a bit more by just touching the corner of the actual ink pad. It sort of turned out to be an ombre shading on the greeting! I like the size and shape of the diecut greeting and I like, with my watercoloring, how it blends in a little with the sky in the background. Try it!

That’s how easy this card was, as easy as it looks! I loved it! I thought it was a stunning panel with the ducks, so cute and colorful, yet soft and subtle. I liked how the Lemon Lolly cardstock layer lightened it all up a bit.

As I write this, this paper is “Low Inventory” so if you want it I would order it very soon! Easter, this year, is April 20, 2025 so we have time to make things, but get your supplies while you can!

Storybook Moments Village Gate Fold Card

Storybook Moments Village Gate Fold Card

This Storybook Moments Village Gate Fold Card is made with the pretty Storybook Moments Specialty Designer Series Paper. You will find this paper and entire Suite in the Spring Mini Catalog. I had the idea of putting the patterned paper with little cottages on it on the inside of this card. When I looked at the diecut sheets and saw these two characters, I thought they looked like the lady and lord of the manor on the inside of the card!

This is called a gate fold card because the two sides of the card fold in and meet in the middle. There is nothing complicated about it! To make this card base, cut the Old Olive cardstock at 5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″ as always. Then score at 2 1/8″ from each horizontal end so that those two ends fold and meet in the middle. The inside panel will measure 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″. When you fold in the two side panels to the center they should meet up perfectly. If they overlap a tiny bit which prevents them from laying flat, just trim as slightly as you can with your Paper Trimmer to help them fit next to each other.

On the inside center panel, I adhered the paper on the Storybook Moments DSP that has images of lots of little cottages. It looks like a little scene when you open the card. That paper would be 4″ x 5 1/4″. On the outside folded side panels, the DSP is cut at 1 7/8″ x 5 1/4″. This designer paper is “the other side” of the paper that has all sorts of different frames and designs in rectangles that can be cut apart to use on cards or scrapbook pages. As you can imagine, it was very difficult to cut into that paper to use the other side and ruin some of the images on the “main” side. But I really liked this leafy side so I gritted my teeth and cut into the paper! Sometimes you have to do hard things! 🙂

The center panel is a piece of Old Olive cardstock cut at 3 1/2″ x 3 1/2″. You can vary the size for your card if you want it smaller or a different shape. The layer on top is Flirty Flamingo 3 1/4″ x 3 1/4″. It happens to be an embossed piece of scrap cardstock in the package, embossed with a retired folder called Scripty. I decided to use it because I liked the little bit of texture it provided in the background, even though it is retired.

The two sheep characters on the square panel are images you will find on the pages of diecuts that coordinate with this Storybook Moments Designer Paper. That is why it is called “Specialty” paper because it has these extra two sheets of all kinds of diecut images, ready to go! These two “lords of the manor” are just glued flat to the card although you could pop them up on Dimensionals. They fit just right on that square.

The greeting is stamped from the Layers of Beauty Stamp Set which I haven’t used for awhile and almost forgot about. You will find it in the Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog. I stamped it on a narrow strip of Basic White cardstock and flagged both ends. To help it work just a little better with the card, I sponged the edges very lightly with Old Olive ink and an old piece of sponge I had that Stampin’ Up! used to sell. You could use Sponge Daubers or one of the Blending Brushes. We used to do this all the time when I started stamping and I rarely do it nowadays, but I think it is the perfect touch sometimes.

When you adhere this center panel to the card, you will adhere it to the left front panel. Only put glue on the left side of the square so that it doesn’t also stick to the right side panel. Sometimes it’s hard to remember not to put the glue everywhere! Don’t ask me how I know!

https://www.twopeasandtheirpod.com/potato-soup/

On the inside of the card, if the cardstock you used for the card base is rather dark, you might want to put plain cardstock on the inside of those side panels. I used Basic Beige which looks good with the cottage paper in the center. You can stamp a greeting or write a personal message on those plain inner panels. Or you could cut or diecut a plain piece for a greeting adhered to the inside center panel, even though it covers some of the cottages.

Any gate fold card similar to this one is easy to make so I hope you will try one!

Storybook Moments Easy Card

Storybook Moments Easy Card

Here’s another easy card, almost like the one I made in yesterday’s post! It’s the Storybook Moments Easy Card, and it is fine that it is so simple because the paper is so cute in the background! Yesterday when I made the Quick and Easy Bright Borders Card I said I used one of the generic patterns on “the other side” of the cute paper. Today I used the themed side of the paper with the cute little squirrel and flower images.

The card base is Boho Blue cardstock. It coordinates with the Storybook Moments Specialty Designer Series Paper. This paper has darling images of little animals, gardening images, and countryside cottages. Plus you get two sheets of diecuts to go with the papers. You can use them on cards, scrapbook pages, or other projects.

Today I just flipped over the paper I used yesterday so I was using all the little squirrels swinging, playing, and doing other fun things. I made the same type of greeting as I did yesterday using the Bright Borders Stamp Set and the To The Point Label Punch. I stamped the border with Boho Bue ink and punched it out. To help it stand out a little bit, I also punched a piece of Boho Blue cardstock and cut it in half horizontally. Then I adhered it with some glue to the back of the top and bottom of the label which leaves a little white space on the back, but no one will see that. You have a choice of putting those points of the border at the top or to the side. Either way works. I liked them at the top and bottom.

For a little bit of embellishment, I added two gold Low Profile Dots in the center of the flowers at the top and bottom. These dots are great because they truly are “low profile” so they won’t stick up and poke the envelope when you mail it. This package has gold and light pink dots in several different sizes. They are great to have in your stash.

Quick and Easy Bright Borders Card

Quick and Easy Bright Borders Card

This Quick and Easy Bright Borders Card is indeed quick and easy and fun to make with new products! It’s a good card design to keep on hand for when you need something “quick and easy”! And remember, quick and easy isn’t necessarily “less than” a super fancy card with all kinds of papers, textures, and embellishments, maybe a fancy fold or two. Sometimes “quick and easy” is just as elegant as anything fancy you could make.

I used the brand new Storybook Moments Specialty Designer Series Paper for the card layer. The card base is Lost Lagoon which is one of the coordinating colors of the designer paper. This paper is called “Specialty” because it contains two sheets of diecut designs. These will really be fun to play with! This paper is part of the Storybook Moments Suite Collection with lots of products included.

Although the main sides of this Storybook Moments Designer Paper have the cutest little images of bunnies, squirrels and other animals plus gardening images, for this card I chose “the other side” of the paper which can be used for almost anything. I love the colors and design.

For the greeting, I stamped one of the border images and greeting in the Bright Borders Stamp Set with Lost Lagoon ink. The new To The Point Label Punch works with this stamp set perfectly. After playing a little bit, I decided I wanted a layer under the punched greeting so I trimmed off the edge of the stamped border image so that I could punch out a piece of Lost Lagoon cardstock which would be larger than the stamped image so I would have a layer. If you don’t want to do this fussy-cutting, you can punch out the label shape and cut it in half horizontally or vertically and use that for a layer on the sides or the top and bottom.

For some embellishment, I adhered some white ribbon back and forth behind the label and popped up the whole greeting on Stampin’ Dimensionals. This ribbon is part of the Petal Pink and White Diagonal Trim Combo Pack. Additionally, I added two Lost Lagoon gems in the Tinsel Gems Three-Pack. If you will be mailing this card, you may want to adhere the greeting flat on the card so that the gems won’t interfere with mailing.

Be sure to check out the amazing number of new products that became available on January 7th at Stampin’ Up! And remember that it is also Sale-A-Bration, a promotion where you can earn free product with each $60 purchase. Have fun shopping!
