The Ribbon Mystery: Does Your Ribbon Do This??

Here’s a rather silly post for a Saturday as I recover from celebrating one of those “big” birthdays yesterday. Not that I was celebrating hard, just reading texts, cards, opening a gift, answering a few phone calls, plus two long ones with my boys and one more coming today from my daughter. That was a lot for a person of “this age”!! When you’re young you never really think you will ever be “this old” and actually, I still don’t think I am “this old”! I guess that’s good!

My friend sent me a funny card with two ladies having tea and the card says, “Isn’t it weird being the same age as old people?” It certainly is! And to think of friends and family who are just a few years older than me…..wow, they are REALLY getting old! How has this happened?!

Does your ribbon do this? When I discovered this the other day, I wondered if my ribbon was playing around during the night or something! What has been going on here?! It’s kind of like when you wonder what your socks have been doing, disappearing one at a time, for no reason. My long-time acrylic ribbon holder finally completely fell apart recently and I haven’t found a replacement yet, so my few rolls of current ribbon are just laying on the desk, under all kinds of stuff. A good hiding place I suppose! Even though this white ribbon is retired, it was the best choice for the card I was making so I started pulling it out of the heap of ribbons. Why was so much white and red all unwound? Obviously, some mischief had been going on.

I tried just pulling out the loose ends of the white ribbon to lead me to the actual roll, but I couldn’t get it separated from the red. Finally, I had to just pick up both the red and white rolls of ribbon and take them to my kitchen table. But there still was no easy separating of them! Maybe I had tossed some rolls of ribbon onto my desk and the loose ends had gotten kind of intertwined a bit, but these two ribbons had “tied the knot”!

I can understand that maybe, somehow the ribbons had gotten unwound on the desk, hiding under the Paper Trimmer, Paper Pumpkin boxes, envelopes, and cards I’d already made, but how did the two ribbons get almost tied together into a knot?

It took a minute but I finally got them untied and untangled and rewound. I probably better check and see that the other ribbons are up to under there! Maybe you should check and see what your ribbon is up to in the dark of night! And maybe I need to do some cleaning up and organizing!

Charming Sentiments Brights Scrap Card

Could there be anything easier to make than this Charming Sentiments Brights Scrap Card? And it’s bright and cheerful to boot! This was an accidental card, meaning I had no intention of making it, but I saw these almost perfect-sized scraps in my package of the Brights 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper and the idea came to me to make this scrap card!

I just chose one of the designer paper colors, Azure Afternoon, for the card base. Next, I simply chose some scrap strips and played around for a second with their placement. Remember, you have two sides to choose from! I glued them down right onto the Azure Afternoon, just eyeballing their placement. You “could” measure and do the math and all that, but that’s no fun! Just lay them out and tweak them about how spaced apart they should be!

As an alternative, you could cut a layer of Basic White or any other color and either glue the strips spaced apart as they are now or push them together with no spaces.

For the greeting, I chose this one from the Charming Sentiments Stamp Set and stamped it in Azure Afternoon ink. It is die cut as well as an Azure Afternoon layer with two dies in the Something Fancy Dies. For some sparkle, I used a few Pastel Adhesive-Backed Sequins.

It’s really a very simple card but still makes you look talented! Another thing you could do would be to stamp randomly on Basic White or colored cardstock, then cut that paper apart into strips whatever size you like. So many different ideas you could pull from this one card!

My Spring Mini 2023 & Sale-A-Bration Preorder

One of the best perks of being a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator is getting to order the new products that are coming out a month ahead of time! The reason for this isn’t just to do something special for us, the reason is so we can learn about the new products and make samples to show our customers so that YOU can order as soon as these products are available! Right now we are looking forward to (at least after we finish our Christmas cards and projects first!) getting the new Stampin’ Up! January – April 2023 Mini Catalog (I’ll usually call it the Spring Mini Catalog) PLUS Sale-A-Bration 2023! As much as we love the holiday products it’s usually refreshing to get our hands on the new spring products. A new start, a fresh start for the New Year!

Here are some new embellishments in the Mini Catalog! It’s the Real Red & Burlap Ribbon and the Pastel Adhesive-Backed Sequins in the Country Floral Lane Suite and the Loose Daisy Embellishments in the Rain Or Shine Suite. The center stamp set in the top photo is in this Suit and comes with the Playing in the Rain Dies and the Raindrops Embossing Folder. The Rain or Shine 12″ x 12″ Specialty Designer Series Paper is so cute and has some shiny embossed areas on it which make it very interesting.

And then we have some things I earned as Sale-A-Bration rewards. Some items, like the huge pack (48 sheets) of designer paper called Dandy Designs, is available with a $100 purchase. It is so fun to get some great stamping products for FREE!

This beautiful paper, Dainty Flowers, is a free Sale-A-Bration item with a $50 purchase. One sheet has floral ovals which will be fun to use and another is like other sheets we have had where you can cut the paper into six panels and each one has pretty flowers plus white space which can easily be made into cards. This paper will coordinate with the Dainty Delight Bundle in the Mini Catalog.

I’m sure I will order more of the new Spring Mini products as time goes on, but this is what I started with! What is more fun than a new Stampin’ Up! catalog?!
