In case you are new to Stampin’ Up!, you might not know what Sale-A-Bration is! Sale-A-Bration has been around since the beginning or near the beginning of Stampin’ Up, except back then it was called “Sell-A-Bration”. I believe I heard it was an idea to save the company back in the beginning when things got rough, as they often do in many companies, especially small ones. It really took off and has been an annual promotion ever since, one that everyone loves! Except for THIS year, we are having TWO Sale-A-Brations!! We only had it starting in January before, but right now we are having the second one in 2021! And at a perfect time when we are purchasing new products anyway in the Holiday Catalog!
The concept of Sale-A-Bration is that when you spend $50 or more, you get to choose a FREE product in the Sale-A-Bration Brochure! And we all love FREE stamping supplies! If you spend $100 or more, you have a choice of one $100 Level product in the brochure or two $50 Level products. You will see those designations in the brochure. No limits to what you can spend and get for FREE!
Watch this video to learn about the Sale-A-Bration products!
If you have a large order yourself or go in together with friends, you can choose a FREE Host stamp set, In Your Words, with a $300 order! It’s on page 17 in the Sale-A-Bration Brochure.
Sale-A-Bration is a fun time at Stampin’ Up! This year, it is double the fun of having a second Sale-A-Bration going on now! But it won’t last forever! Sale-A-Bration ends on September 30 and you know how time flies! Get what you want before things sell out! Enjoy the Sale-A-Bration video!
The January-June 2021 Mini Catalog is coming to an end! I like to call it the Spring Mini Catalog! It’s always a joy to start ordering from the spring catalog right after the holidays to see and use fresh new products to start the new year! But as all good things must come to an end, this catalog’s last day will be tomorrow, Wednesday, June 30. It’s the last day to order from the January-June 2021 Mini Catalog!! Some of the products carried over to the new Annual Catalog and some products are already sold out. If a product doesn’t come up in the Online Store, then it probably is sold out. If you search for a product and it doesn’t come up, put the item number in the search box, just in case the search terms aren’t working, or use the drop-down list on the left of the store website under Shop Products.
Today, Monday, June 14th, is the LAST DAY to take advantage of an additional $25 in Stampin’ Rewards with a $250 order! You may place your individual order if you want to go in with friends, you can do that.
With the new Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog out, if you haven’t ordered yet, you just might be able to hit that total! And if you do, you not only earn the usual Stampin’ Rewards of 10% at $250, but you receive an additional $25. That’s free merchandise!
If you are a little bit short, maybe a friend would like to select some ribbon or notecards or some other products to add in. Or think ahead to some gifts you may be needing and see if there is some gift packaging you’d like to pick up or a kit with which to make a group of cards to give someone or our wonderful Paper Snips scissors! Look through the catalog and you will find things you can use as gifts to others! Add a few months of a prepaid Paper Pumpkin subscription for you or someone else! This is when those Prepaid subscriptions come in handy, even if you are already subscribed month to month. You can still purchase a Prepaid subscription and enter the code in your account and use that up before reverting back automatically to your regular monthly subscription.
This special offer ends Monday, June 14th! Start shopping!
If you always want more greetings and sentiments for your cards and projects, you should consider the Many Messages Bundle which is going away when the January-June Mini Catalog ends on June 30. The stamp set and dies aren’t really going away, though. You will find them in the new Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog on page 42, but they are being sold separately rather than in the Bundle since most Bundles “retire” with a new catalog. If you want to save 10% with both the Many Messages Stamp Set and the Messages Dies, then buy the Bundle now before the Spring Mini Catalog retires.
Also, there is a new stamp set on the order of Many Messages called Many Happenings in the Annual Catalog on the same page 42. If you want to be awash in greetings, get this stamp set, too, along with the Many Messages Bundle before it retires and you will have a complete set with the die and two stamp sets of sentiments!
The main idea is that you stamp all these greetings at one time and then die cut them all at one time. Then you can save the greetings in a little bag or box and you can just choose one when you make a card! If you have the Stamparatus, this is a great time to use it with this large stamp. Make sure your ink pad is pretty juicy with ink, ink up your stamp, then use the Stamparatus to stamp your cardstock. You could make quite a collection by stamping these greetings in different colors or on different colors of cardstock and have a ton of greetings ready to go! The beauty of the Stamparatus is that if part of the stamp doesn’t stamp well, you can reink, even just that area, and stamp again with the Stamparatus since the cardstock has remained in the same place. Give a good push each time evenly over the surface to get the best results.
In the photo above, you can see the large stamp with all the greetings, the paper in the Stamparatus that has been stamped, and on the right, the one large Messages Die that will cut out all the greetings at one time with the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine.
On the photo above, you can see how the greetings have been die-cut in different shapes, some with stitching around the edge and some plain. The tiny little stars and hearts on the stamp are to help line up the die on the stamped paper. I found that my very well-used cutting plates that are slightly warped made it difficult to keep the die lined up perfectly, but I keep some rolls of old washi tape by my Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine to tape down a die if need be. (You might want to get some of the washi tape stickiness off by sticking it on and off your clothing a couple of times and being careful where you place it so it doesn’t tear the paper if it is too sticky.) But it was pretty easy to line everything up with the stamped words.
Now I am finally ready to have these greetings on hand to make it quicker and easier to use on cards and other projects! I also stamped the Many Happenings set so I have lots to choose from!
Remember, if you buy the Many Messages Bundle now before it retires, you will save 10% and then you can also order the Many Happenings Stamp to use with the Messages Die in the Bundle. If you own the Stamparatus, all the better, and if not, just add one to your order as well!
This Prized Peony Poppin Pastels Friend Card came from another opportunity of playing with the new Soft Pastels in the Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog. I remembered an old technique that was quite popular around the time I joined Stampin’ Up! called Poppin’ Pastels! You can do a lot of different things with chalk pastels and this is just one technique.
To do the Poppin’ Pastels technique, you need Versamark Ink (the clear, watermark ink) and chalks plus a Sponge Dauber or cotton ball. You will find these new Soft Pastels Assortment in the Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog on page 126 at the bottom of the page. We have had chalk pastels before but in little squares, in a metal tin in all the Stampin’ Up! colors so these “sticks” are a little different. They are almost like crayons. So while you can “color” with the chalk piece, you can also scrape some chalk off the side of the stick or scribble on a scrap piece of paper to get chalk dust that you can pick up to use. You can use Paper Snips that are open, just scraping the blade of the scissors along the side of the chalk onto a piece of paper or an acrylic block or whatever you have.
I stamped the Prized Peony Stamp with Versamark Ink on Basic White Cardstock. Give the ink a few minutes to dry, otherwise, you may smear the ink a bit. See the photo below on the left side of the flower!
Pick up some of the chalk dust with the Sponge Dauber or a cotton ball and dab on the stamped image. I think it is better to dab it on rather than rub it on. Maybe that’s why my flower above got a little smeared because I was rubbing on the chalk. The fun thing about Poppin’ Pastels is that the stamped image is invisible, but as soon as you start dabbing on the chalk, it magically appears! It is really fun! You can’t be exact in your coloring with the Sponge Daubers but that’s what makes it interesting and gives a soft “halo” around the edge of the image. Sometimes colors overlap a bit which makes it colorful and interesting as well.
The chalk in the assortment that I used is Poppy Parade, so I stamped the greeting with Poppy Parade Ink. You can see the ink is a little darker than the pastels. The greeting is also in the Prized Peony Stamp Set. Before adhering the layers together, I adhered some of the Whisper White 1/4″ Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon and tied a bow. The card base is Poppy Parade and the layer is Granny Apple Green to match the leaves.
Easy card to make and fun to do the Poppin’ Pastels Technique! You can use less chalk for a lighter look or more for a darker color. Just experiment and see what you come up with using the new Soft Pastels Assortment! On this card, I “colored in” the stamped image a little more precisely, so you can see the difference.
While you are looking for the Soft Pastels Assortment, also check out the Last Chance products from the January-June Mini Catalog that are retiring. Some have significant discounts, some less but discounted a little bit! Before you buy a Bundle, check if the individual products are on sale, which might make the price together less than the Bundle, ie. the Kangaroo & Company Bundle is $36.75, but if you buy the stamp set and the half-price dies, your cost would be only $28.50! What a deal for such a cute set, if you don’t already own it!

I hope you love this new catalog! Believe it or not, years ago when I joined Stampin’ Up! the first time anyone saw the new catalog was at the Stampin’ Up! Convention in the summer! As soon as we checked in and got our bag of stuff, we would sit down and look through the catalog! Everyone else had to wait to hear from those Demos and wait for their catalog to be mailed later. I think we have a better system now, but whatever the system or situation, a new Stampin’ Up! catalog of any kind is always so fun and exciting! Enjoy the day!
Make some pretty butterflies using pretty designer paper and a punch, like these Hydrangea Hill Butterflies on this card. It’s springtime so it’s time for butterflies and Stampin’ Up! has an assortment of butterflies to choose from. Some are retiring soon and some are new. But paper and a punch help you make a pretty simple, elegant card.
The card base is Highland Heather Cardstock. I started off planning to make a white on white card, but I changed my mind! It’s allowed! The top layer has wider margins than normal. Instead of cutting the layer 5 1/4″ x 4″, I cut it at 5″ x 3 3/4″. I ran the Basic White paper through the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine embossing it with the Subtles Embossing Folder. This folder is difficult to see in a photo but it just puts a “subtle” pattern of lines on the paper so you have some texture but just barely. It’s perfect for when you want something but not a lot. This embossing folder is retiring soon so check it out if you are interested!
I added a narrow strip of Hydrangea Hill Designer Series Paper along the side of the Basic White embossed layer. I used the Butterfly Duet Punch to punch out several butterflies out of another pattern of the same paper. I chose a pattern that had the little floral pattern all over the paper so it would definitely show up inside the punch. Otherwise, you might have to be careful to get a colorful enough pattern inside the punch area. This punch punches out a small and large butterfly so it is very handy. But it is retiring by May 3, so if you don’t have it yet, you might want to see if you need it in your stash! I just drew on the little antennae on each butterfly with a fine tip black marker.
The greeting is from another retiring item, the Itty Bitty Greetings Stamp Set. All the “Itty Bitty” stamp sets are retiring which really makes me sad. I have used all of them a lot. On some cards, you don’t necessarily want the greeting to be the focal point or there just isn’t enough room for larger greetings, so the Itty Bitty series always came in handy! These Itty Bitty Sets are all retiring – Itty Bitty Greetings. Itty Bitty Christmas, and Itty Bitty Birthdays. Check them out. I used the Lovely You Punch for both the Highland Heather layer and the greeting.
The two large butterflies are popped up with Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals and the wings are folded up a little bit to add some dimension. For a little bling, I added some Artistry Blooms Adhesive-Backed Sequins scattered around and on the greeting. These are Coastal Cabana in color but go fine with the blues in the designer paper.
This is an easy card to make and easy to change up according to what supplies and punches you have. You could also punch out flowers and make the card in the same design. Try making a card with what you have today similar to this Hydrangea Hill Butterflies card and see what you come up with!
The Stampin’ Up! Last-Chance Products are in the Stampin’ Up! Online Store now! Look carefully at the pink note below the products to see if it is on sale or retiring soon.

As we are busy getting ready for Christmas this week, take a moment to breathe and relax by looking online at the Stampin’ Up! Giant Year-End Closeout! Remember, the August-December 2020 Mini Catalog (Holiday Catalog) is retiring January 4th. Some products will carry over to future catalogs, but a lot is leaving.
I hate to see the end of the Holiday Catalog, yet by the time the holidays are over, I am ready for the fresh, new things in the next catalog! The January -June 2021 Mini Catalog (Spring Mini) will go live January 5th as well as Sale-A-Bration! If you are a regular customer of mine, you probably have received (or will receive soon) both the Spring Mini Catalog and the Sale-A-Bration Brochure. Be sure to watch your holiday mail! I know some customers have received theirs but with the mail so unpredictable these days, yours may still be on its way! (Or the mail person is enjoying reading it before giving it to you!!)
Also, the Clearance Rack was “refreshed” not long ago but there are only a few products left! Be sure to check it out. You might find a bargain or two that you “need”!
I hope you are closer to “done” with your Christmas preparations than I am! I’m still doing my cards, believe it or not. It’s my favorite thing to do but it always get saved until last and then it’s a rush. Sending my Christmas cards always reminds me of my mother. She always had her Christmas card register booklet with everyone’s addresses and would write notes inside in her pretty handwriting and address all the envelopes. We had typewriters and return address labels (I think) but no computers to write a Christmas letter. I remember when the mailman would make two trips in a day to deliver Christmas cards! Now that was the “good old days!”
Don’t miss out on the bargains that are available now. Maybe you need a Christmas present for yourself (although you know it won’t arrive until after Christmas!). I’m probably going to pick up something I want this afternoon just because! Take care of yourself, too!
Time for a fun turkey for Thanksgiving and I came up with the Ribbon Turkey For Thanksgiving! I actually kind of copied myself, looking back through my blog at Thanksgiving ideas. I found an idea from 2012 for a turkey ornament I made with ribbon for feathers.
I made this but didn’t make anything out of it! You could tie a string on top and make it an ornament or decoration or attach it to a folded piece of cardstock and make it a place card! When I was a kid and we were at my grandma’s house, I always wanted to make place cards for the dinner table! I guess this year most people won’t need too many place cards! Sadly. Or you could put it on the front of a Thanksgiving card.
I used a variety of punches and whatever I came up with to make this turkey. The turkey body is the 2 1/4″ Circle Punch. The head is a small circle die in the Layering Circles Dies. I used Soft Suede Cardstock. The wattle….you won’t guess this….is a petal in Real Red punched from the Perennial Flower Punch. The beak is just cut from Crushed Curry. The eyes are punched with the retired Owl Punch. Loved that punch! The turkey feet are the stick arms from the Snowman Builder Punch.
Instead of paper turkey feathers, I just grabbed a bunch of my ribbons that I thought would work! You can use whatever you have or maybe even a mixture of paper and ribbon would be fun! I put strips of Stampin’ Seal+ on the back of the head and body and sometimes on the ribbon as I adhered it and then just cut non-measured lengths of ribbon and laid it down on the adhesive. If you are going to use it as an ornament or decoration, you might want to cover the backside of adhered ribbon. I punched out two more circles to match the body of Soft Suede and adhered them with Multipurpose Liquid Glue to the back of the turkey to make a cleaner presentation!
Just a fun little project you could even make with kids for Thanksgiving! If you don’t want to use your new ribbon, get out some older retired ribbon from your stash! Just have fun making a Ribbon Turkey For Thanksgiving!
