Blossoms In Bloom Watercolor Stamping Cards

Blossoms In Bloom Watercolor Stamping Cards

I thought I would try some watercoloring with this stamp set and dies and ended up with these Blossoms In Bloom Watercolor Stamping Cards. I’m calling it watercoloring stamping. I used watercolor paper, moistened it and also spritzed water on the stamp before stamping.

Blossoms In Bloom Watercolor Stamping Card Front

I used my Stamparatus to stamp since the Blossoms in Bloom stamp is so large. I used my Aqua Painter (now Water Painters in the new catalog) to moisten the Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper and I also spritzed the stamp with water after coloring with Stampin’ Write Markers. On the other card, I applied the ink to each flower with Sponge Daubers. When I stamped with the Stamparatus on the wet watercolor paper with the wet stamp, it looked like a mess! But all I had to do was dab with a paper towel to pick up the excess water and it was fine! I really just wanted a bit of color underneath the die cut I would later put on.

After letting the watercolor paper dry, I adhered the thin Whisper White die cut of the Many Layered Blossoms Dies with teeny tiny drops of Multipurpose Liquid Glue. Then this piece was layered on the card front of Melon Mambo Cardstock.

The die cut didn’t quite cut all of the flower centers but I don’t think anyone will mind. I could have even colored them perhaps with yellow to make them look like they were supposed to be there. I like how I didn’t have to place the die cut perfectly, if the color extended beyond, it looked fine because it was watercolor.

Blossoms In Bloom Watercolor Stamping Card

And then I did another one to see if I could get it less watery, but I didn’t, although using a Melon Mambo die cut on Coastal Cabana Cardstock gives this card a different look anyway.

Blossoms In Bloom Watercolor Stamping Coastal Cabana Card

I like the way some of the colors bled into each other which gives it a good watercolor look. I even accidentally got some splatters on the watercolor paper.

If you’d like to watercolor, but don’t know “how”, just use this stamping method on watercolor paper, spritzing before or after. Just experiment! There are lots of ways to do this. If you don’t have official watercolor paper, Shimmery White Cardstock is the next best thing.

Try your hand at some watercoloring with whatever you have! And you can get some other ideas of how to use the Many Layered Dies on these cards in THIS POST.

I think you will find these Blossoms In Bloom Watercolor Stamping Cards fun to make!

Are Stampin’ Blends Retiring?

Stampin' Blends Image
Image © Stampin’ Up!

One of my favorite products in the Stampin’ Up! Catalog is the Stampin’ Blends markers. So the other day when the Last-Chance List came out of retiring products I got a little concerned as I saw marker after marker on the list! You may have too! Fortunately, Stampin’ Blends ARE NOT RETIRING so no worries there if they are your favorite coloring medium!

What will be new, is that Stampin’ Blends will not be sold in singles in the new catalog. So if one marker goes bad, you will need to buy the Combo package regardless. Therefore, I suggest going through your markers and seeing particularly if you have any singles that you need to replace. Keep in mind these are a consumable product and will have to be replaced eventually. If you do need single markers, order them now during the retirement period. When the new catalog comes out you will only be able to get the Combo Pack.

I already knew I had a few markers whose tips were scraggly but I hadn’t stopped the world to go through them and make a list of them. This is what I did the other day. I went through each marker and scribbled on scraps of Whisper White Cardstock with the brush tip and made a list of any that were bad or a little bit bad or whatever. I thought it was best to color on the Whisper White cardstock to get the proper feel for how the tip was working in case it didn’t work as well on scrap computer paper. Then I placed a Stampin’ Up! order for the singles I needed or both, if that’s what I needed. It looks like Old Olive only has the Dark marker available, no Light and no Combo Pack so that will wait until later.

Stampin' Blends Singles

The single Stampin’ Blends Markers will be available until June 2 or while supplies last. If they run out of a single color during this time, the item will no longer be orderable.

Stampin’ Up! says they have quite a bit of inventory for single Stampin’ Blends Markers so they will continue to fulfill orders for the new 2020–2021 Annual Catalogue combo packs with single markers until the inventory is depleted. After that time, they will automatically start shipping Stampin’ Blends Combo Packs. So if in the new catalog you still get markers in your order in single packages that is why, but when those are gone you’ll get the combo pack. Either way, they will be only sold as Combo packs starting June 3.

Also, beginning June 3, Bronze and Ivory Stampin’ Blends Markers will be sold exclusively in a combo pack (though they may arrive in separate packaging until the single marker inventory is depleted). The Stampin’ Blends Color Lifter will be the only Stampin’ Blends Marker sold individually starting with the 2020–2021 Annual Catalogue.

So when you are going through the Last-Chance products in my Online Store and the Clearance Rack, and maybe ordering the early release Ornate Garden products, be sure to check out your Stampin’ Blends markers and see if you need maybe just a few single markers while you have your chance. Remember, everything is while supplies last!

Easy Valentine Hearts and Ribbon Card

Valentine Hearts and Ribbon

Valentine’s Day is coming up at the end of this week so if you need more valentine ideas, here is an Easy Valentine Hearts and Ribbon Card you can try!

The card base is Real Red with a layer of Whisper White to help the designer paper stand out a little bit. This dotted foil layer is in the From My Heart Specialty Designer Series Paper. It really caught my eye when I was making this card!

The next step is to simply punch two hearts from another design of the From My Heart DSP. I chose the paper with the scattered hearts. I thought it stood out well against the foil DSP.

The center heart is punched from the sheet of foil hearts and then layered on a punched scallop heart from Flirty Flamingo Cardstock. You can get both these plain-edge heart punch and the scalloped edge heart punch in the Heart Punch Pack. And if you want the Heartfelt Stamp Set, too, you can purchase it with the heart punches and save 10% in the Heartfelt Bundle.

After those two hearts were layered together, I put more adhesive on the back with Snail Adhesive so I could stick the ribbon going back and forth behind the heart. Then it is popped up on Stampin’ Dimensionals® and centered on the card between the other two hearts.

Even though there is no sentiment on the front of the card, I think it is pretty enough on its own so you can just stamp a greeting inside the card on a Whisper White layer.

Don’t forget! Today is the last day to join Paper Pumpkin and get the February Kit in just a few days! You could also purchase a Prepaid Subscription in the Online Store and just add it to your Stampin’ Up! order! That way it might help you earn a free Sale-A-Bration item or reach Hostess Rewards!

The Under My Umbrella Bundle Perfect For Spring!

I don’t own this Under My Umbrella Bundle in the Occasions Mini Catalog, but of course, I wish I did! This Bundle will be perfect for spring (even if you have snow outside and can’t image spring!) with it’s flowers, rain boots, and umbrella images. Besides a “rain-themed” card you could make with an umbrella, as they show in the video you can turn the umbrella upside down and fill it with flowers for a happy card. Just think of how you could use it for wedding or baby showers, too!

And now, whether you have the Under My Umbrella Bundle or not, or want to order it, be sure to check out the Pleased As Punch Designer Series Paper, offered as one of the Coordination Products just released earlier this month! Looks very cute and has a long list of coordinating colors! While supplies last!

One of the products that I think will be the most popular is the Painted Poppies Stamp Set. I made this easy card with just some basic stamping and coloring by stamping the group of poppies twice and then quickly coloring in the flowers and grass with the Stampin’ Blends markers. I didn’t color “carefully”, I just dabbed some Light Poppy Parade marker on all the flowers and then went back and dabbed on a little bit of Dark Poppy Parade. I used Granny Apple Green Blends on the stems and drew in some grass.

Easy Painted Poppies Birthday Card

The greeting on this card is from the Sending Thoughts Stamp Set, FREE with a $50 purchase during Sale-A-Bration! You will find it under the Sale-A-Bration category in the Online Store and in the SAB brochure. I simply stamped it in Memento Black Ink right on the card front to keep things simple! Sometimes we forget “simple”! The card base is Poppy Parade with a bit of Granny Apple Green Cardstock showing under the stamped image.

Let It Snow Punched Snowman Christmas Card

Let It Snow Punched Snowman Christmas Card

This Let It Snow Die-Cut Snowman Christmas Card will be a fun card to send at Christmas time! It uses fun designer paper plus a cute snowman stamp set. There are so many possibilities with the Let It Snow Suite for making cards and projects for winter and Christmas! You will find it all, of course, in the Stampin’ Up! Holiday Catalog!

This card starts with a Coastal Cabana card base. The designer paper is the Let It Snow Specialty Designer Series Paper. This package of paper has glittery snowmen on some of the patterns. The paper used on this card doesn’t have the glitter, but it is a design of an assortment of mini snowmen! It makes a great background for a snowman card without taking away attention from the main snowman.

The main snowman is stamped with the Snowman Season Stamp Set and then punched with the Snowman Builder Punch. With this punch, you can make the snowman body, the arms, the hat, and the carrot nose! You can even purchase the Snowman Season Stamp Set and the Snowman Builder Punch together in the Snowman Season Bundle and save 10%! After building this snowman with the punch, I popped him up with Stampin’ Dimensionals. He is then layered on a flip side of designer paper and layered on a large scalloped circle die cut.

The greeting is stamped from the Snowman Season Stamp Set and layered on a scalloped oval die cut. You can see another card HERE that also uses the punched snowman.

That’s all there is to this card! Stamp a holiday greeting inside or write a personal note and the card is ready to go!

Also, don’t forget about the Designer Series Paper Sale going on now at Stampin’ Up!. Select papers – Buy 3, Get the 4th package FREE!
