Trendy Mason Jars!

Yesterday Stampin' Up! did something they have never done before! They live streamed about thirty minutes of the last general session of the 2012 Convention to us demonstrators.  I think it was mainly to give us all a taste of what attending Convention is like, for those who haven't attended yet. Next year will be the 25th Anniversary of Stampin' Up! and you can imagine that they will do that convention up right!

During the live stream, Sara Douglass, Shelli Gardner's daughter, gave a demonstration of some decorating ideas for mason jars!  When you see the Holiday Catalog August 1st you will see why! Apparently mason jars are trendy items right now!

Here are some photos that I took of my computer screen during the live stream from the Stampin' Up! Convention!

Tie DyeTag for Mason Jar

Here's a tag she made look tie-dyed just by embossing and then coloring in (not neatly!) with various inks.  The bottom tag is embossed with the chevron design.

Doily Mason Jar

Very pretty!  I'll have to listen again to catch the instructions! I'm sure you recognize the doily die.

Mason Jar Cards

Here are matching cards you could give as a gift or have people write advice or good wishes at a wedding or shower or whatever occasion. Then they get put in the mason jar!

Mason Jar Idea

And here's another creative idea…this time the jar is filled with something (mints?) to hold skewers attached to decorations or flowers or whatever you would want to make…just like a vase.

And here's one item she made to stick in the jar for a wedding gift for a friend.  She also stuck a gift card holder on the back.

Even thirty minutes of live Stampin' Up! was great fun!

Easy Events Wedding Card

Easy Events Wedding Doily Card

Thirty-five years ago today I was a bride! It’s hard to imagine I am saying my husband and I have been married for thirty-five years when it seems more like we should be saying we are thirty-five years old. Or that our parents have been married thirty-five years…but not us! And then you add on another four years that we knew each other before we got married (maybe the reason we are still married after thirty five years?), you are talking about a long time together! I actually had to take pencil to paper and do the math….2012 minus 1977 = yep, 35 years! Crazy! Crazy but good!

And since it is wedding season, here is a wedding card I CASEd (Copy and Share Everything) from the Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog page 34. Easy Events is a great stamp set, fun for a little bit of coloring in, and all occasions are covered…or leave off the words and just use the picture! For example, if you wanted this to be an anniversary card instead of a wedding card, just don’t ink up the words..or place a post-it note over the words before you stamp on your paper. Easy Events is a good set for new stampers because it is so versatile.

Look through the beautiful new Stampin’ Up! Catalog and choose a card or project to copy today!

Wedding 3×3 Gift Card

Wedding Gift Card 3x3 Happy I Do Day

As long as I had my wedding stamping supplies out after making the gatefold wedding card in yesterday's post, I decided to make a little 3×3 wedding gift card to match. Maybe you will just be attaching a little gift card to the wedding or shower gift instead of a full card.

The greeting from Word Play is so great to use on anything for a wedding!  Be sure to add a Basic Rhinestone to the ring! I punched a little scrap of Silver Glimmer Paper with the Scallop Trim Border Punch for a little pizzazz at the bottom and tied on a little of my favorite ribbon, Whisper White Organza Ribbon.

Little 3×3 cards are so fun to make!  Why don't you try to make one today?

Gatefold Wedding Card

Wedding Gate Fold Card Happy I Do Day

June isn't the only month for weddings…and this summer has lots of weddings! Perhaps you are in need of wedding card ideas as well. This is a wedding card I made with a gatefold, using the "Happy I Do Day" greeting from the Word Play stamp set

Each panel on the front of the gatefold is embossed with the popular Vintage Wallpaper Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. The greeting is backed with the new Delicate Doilies Sizzlits Die  in Silver Glimmer Paper. You've got to have glimmer paper!  It is SO beautiful!

A Stampin’ Up! Wedding Card for a Princess

Royal Wedding Card

Were you up early for the Royal Wedding of William and Kate today? I was, just so I could say "I was there!"  I think I did the same when Prince Charles and Diana got married.  I pulled out one of my favorite retired Stampin' Up! stamp sets, Pretty Princess, to make a wedding card for the newlyweds.  I tried to add plenty of gold, silver and bling with the Brushed Gold and Brushed Silver cardstock, the Basic Pearls and Rhinestones and of course some Dazzling Diamonds Glitter!

And here's a little souvenir from Charles and Diana's wedding that a friend living in London at the time sent to me!  I hope I can find something similar for William and Kate so I have a set!

She’s Married!!

The bride was beautiful, the groom handsome, the wedding a whirlwind!  It is an amazing experience to see your child get married and to welcome the new spouse as a real part of the family.  And to see all the months of planning actually come together in the decor, the flowers, the food, the music….everything!  It was all wonderful!

Of course stamping played a part in all of this!  I was honored that my daughter asked me to make her wedding invitations.  We were able to partially design the invitation while I was visiting in June, although it was right at catalog change-over time so would we use retiring paper and could we get enough or would we prefer a new color and accessories from the demonstrator preorder?  Concord Crush seemed to be the right color, and she loved the new "Vintage Wallpaper" embossing folder and Scallop Trim Border Punch so I had to incorporate all of those.  She liked the inside of the Vintage Wallpaper embossing showing so that really dictated the size and design of the whole invitation.  It was a paper-engineering and computer feat, but with tips from my cyber-stamping friends with more computer skills than I had I eventually got it ready to go!

One of the insert cards…..my favorite!  The bride is from the Spanish set in Celebrando Creatividad, Para la novia.  A lot of guests were coming from out of town.

The fan was purchased, of course, but I made the menu, the table number/name, the favor tin and the escort cards.  As you can see, it had a bit of a Spanish (as in Spain) theme!  It was all fun!

And now back to real life!  I don't know where to begin to catch up!  But I know Stampin' Up! has some specials going on and new My Digital Studio downloads, and the holidays are upon us!  Whew!  I better get busy!

Para la novia

What are these??  These are the beautiful images from the Stampin' Up! stamp set "Para la novia" #114028 in the Spanish catalog "Celebrando Creatividad" on page 22.  I've stamped the bride and the cake with Concord Crush Classic Ink and am busily cutting them out today with my Paper Snips #103579.  Can't show you yet what I am making with them!  But I can say that if you ever have to cut out a quantity of intricate, small images like these, you really need our Stampin' Up! Paper Snips!

Medallion Wedding Card

MedallionWedding

When I saw this card online, made by Lynn Weiss, I thought it was beautiful.  I decided to make it for a neighbor getting married today and incorporated purple since I think she is using that in her wedding.  The card base is Elegant Eggplant (#105126) and the white paper is the beautiful  Shimmery White (#101910).  I stamped the Medallion stamp (#115223) with Versamark (#102283) on the Shimmery White card stock and embossed with White Embossing Powder (#109132).  I also did a second one so I could punch out the center circle with the 1 3/4" Circle Punch (#112004) to pop up with Stampin' Dimensionals (#104430)  in the center of my card.  The bottom portion is made using the Big Shot (#113439) and the Perfect Details Texturz Plate (#115962), just a separate little piece of paper to fit there.  The sentiment is stamped with Teeny Tiny Wishes (#115370), punched out with the Word Window Punch (#105090) and mounted on a piece punched out with the Modern Label Punch (#116630).  I popped that up with Dimensionals too and sponged a little ink around the words.

Before I assembled the card, I sponged Elegant Eggplant ink around and on top of the embossed Medallion, and then took a paper towel and rubbed off some of the excess ink over the Medallion.  I even very lightly rubbed the sponge over the diagonal embossing on the bottom portion just to highlight the embossing.  I tied some Whisper White Organza Ribbon (#114319) around the card layer and glued a little half pearl from the Pretties Kit (#109114) with a dot of Tombow Multi (#110755) in the center of the Medalliion.

And there you have it!  Of course all you have to do is change the sentiment to have a beautiful birthday card or any other occasion.

Bridal Shower Card

WeddingDressCardSarah

This is a card I made for a bridal shower.  I got the idea from a card I saw by another Stampin' Up! demonstrator, Heather, on our great new Stampin' Connection site for all Stampin' Up! demonstrators.  See, if you want to be a demonstrator, don't worry that you will have to come up with all your own creative ideas! Besides Stampin' Connection, there is also the monthly Stampin' Success magazine which we all LOVE!  I thought this month's really had some great ideas for stamping.  But then I could probably say that every month!  We all wait (im)patiently for our issues to arrive….but we can also read it online!  Just one of the many perks of being a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator!!  And right now through the end of March during Sale-A-Bration, another BIG PERK is FREE STAMPS!  Sign up to be a demo and choose a free stamp set (up to a value of $47.95)!

Find out about being a demo and watch a video on my website.  Then contact me and let me answer all your questions!

Valentine Easel Card

It may be past Valentine's Day, but really you could use this card for other special occasions, like an engagement or wedding….or just extra-special card.  It is called an Easel Card because while it folds flat like any card, it can be propped up as if it were on an easel for display.  And what a great idea to be able to display your handmade card!

EaselCard1
EaselCard2

EaselCard3

It's easy to make this card…….just make a regular card front…this one is

5 1/2" x 4 1/4".  For the base, make it twice as long as the card front (in this case 11"" and the same width (in this case 4 1/4").  Fold that base in half (at

5 1/2") and then fold one of those halves in half (in this case 2 3/4").  Then you adhere the card front to the front of that 2 3/4" portion…..you'll see when you fold it!  Decorate the base, putting a little something popped up that can act as a stopper for your card front.  And there you go!

Time for Wedding Cards!

I tried to do some research on what months are the most popular for weddings, but the answer varies between sources.  One says the most popular has always been June, but now July and August are overtaking that month.  Another lists August as the second most popular, followed by May, July and September.  Yet another lists September in the third spot, followed by October and May.  So who knows?!  All I know is that we all probably need some wedding cards throughout the year!  Here is one I made for my friend recently.
